My Daikin inverter aircon FTKD 2hp died recently (cannot turn on, only fan mode works) and the repairman said that the electronics/pcb died and fixing it would not be worth it. I can't remember exactly the reasons given but one of them he said was that the model was out of production and it would be more expensive to get parts.
So I need recommendations in the 1.5hp-2hp range. Even when it was working correctly, the cooling power for the FTKD Daikin was quite mediocre for a 2hp aircon. I'm looking at Panasonic inverter models (premium/elite) and want info on durability/cost savings etc.
Update after calling Daikin support - The support guy asked for the error codes (there were about 5) and he said that the electronics probably needed to be changed for about 1k+.

QUOTE(kevinwawa @ May 19 2017, 10:32 AM) no understand when turn on we no turn on the fan mode ? None of the aircon functions (cool, dehumidify, etc) work, only the fan option works. Edited for the reading impaired:- Daikin model FTKD Aircon doesn't turn on. Only fan blower works. This post has been edited by derail: May 19 2017, 01:56 PM

QUOTE(VeeJay @ May 19 2017, 01:44 PM) If your compressor is fine, just change the blower, second hand only cost around RM500 ++ Nothing is wrong with the blower. The aircon does not turn on EXCEPT for the blower.

Whats the length of the standard warranty period nowadays?
And how do the different brands compare in functionality/reliability for inverter models?

I had a chat with a support tech for my problem with electronics failure (see my posts on the previous page) and he suggested getting a non-inverter instead. After some searching online it seems like inverter air cons have a higher failure rate because of insects/geckos shorting out the electronics.

QUOTE(williamjr @ May 24 2017, 10:36 AM) Isn't the probability of insect / geckos shorting same with inverter and non-inverter? I mean the enclosure to protect the PCB board design should be similiar and is not dependant on whether it is inverter or non-inverter. The inverter design will be more complicated, will have extra sensitive power electronics making it more prone to damage from insects crawling inside. But the more recent inverter models at least for some if not all brands I hear have made some changes to be more reliable however.
