the only way you can watch astro is to buy iptv programme from some buyer (ebay etc)
otherwise, you have to use apps to watch drama smile.gif

as far as i know, mibox can play 4k and has higher ram or powerful processor (could be just either one of these). mini is very handy for travelling but should get the mibox if just putting in house

Also is anyone having issues with native AirPlay?

MiBox 3 are more powerful. Mi3 Mini don't have USB port and SD Card Port, it is suitable for travelling use. smile.gif

for the other add-on, i'm using genesis and phoenix mostly, although phoenix has this dependencies not met lately (perhaps mine is too old version, frodo)

can find from lowyat. worth to buy or not depends if you're clear on what it can or can not do. it can stream movies from various sources, but not as direct as you can get from mi itself since we r not in china. explore on xbmc/kodi or you can pay for the cloud iptv for live tv stream (not legit, and i didnt)

When using Kodi, it can sometimes randomly crash
Great for some gaming, but you'll need to add micro sdcard since internal storage is quite limited
There's some chinese stream app installed, doesn't seem to work for me
Probably need those dns app that most sellers seem to have preinstall in their mibox units.
Instead I just installed astro iptv service, there's a bunch of sellers there in garage sales.
Using the 2g ram version btw.

Kodi doesn't really crash, but the playback suddenly stopped for no reason, but you can resume it immediately
Then again, I tried using Kodi on the mibox around a few months back
Since then there's probably a lot updates for the android version, and I still haven't update my mibox to the latest version yet.
The same 4K version that you just mentioned, just that mine's 2gb version which is quite rare to find now.
I don't even see this version listed in the xiaomi official website anymore.

I clicked on the Mibox Mini where i bought my Mibox Mini and I found that price has already increased from RM169 to RM199. So if you buy it from this seller, after coupon applied, then it would be RM179.

Try the link below.

3rd Generation is good for home use cause got network plug. 4th generation (Mibox Mini) is good for mobility (e.g. traveling) but only can connect through WiFi and Bluetooth.

Guys, i have a question. I was using Android TVbox previously and it basically sucked all the line connection to it and left everything else slow. Laptops, phones basically have very laggy connection when the TVBox is on. Does XiaoMi box have this issue? I on Streamyx 8MB by the way.

Bearing in mind that price is not an issue, which Mi Box allows you to stream different channels to different TVs? And what kind of cables do they use? Or there is no such option, and that I have to buy 3 different Mi Box to stream to 3 different TVs?

If not you can just use link2sd

That's the only app available to control your mibox other than your remote
Is your mibox mini already rooted? There should be no problem with video playback with h/w enabled once rooted

For those who 'subscribed' to the iptv package with this Xiomi, how do you find the streaming? Are you happy with it? Are there subtitles in English or perhaps Malay?

Seriously considering to get one, but I'm worried about the performance of the iptv.

Do you mean the one with Astroxx packages? Subtitles are available alrite
Any android device can run the iptv app, basically just depends on your broadband speed.

Did you have stuttering issues in previous version of Kodi?
Also, what's the format for the videos with stuttering issues? Are they mkv files with high bitrates around >4gb?
Seems like this guy has no problem with 1080p, although he didn't exactly mention the 1080p source (could be yify rips)

Kinda interested to get one because of the small form factor.

Planning to buy the 3rd gen Mi box as price is quite reasonable. However just found out another andriod tv box - turbo box with free IPTV for life. Very tempted but Turbo Box is something new to me. Anyone tried that before ? Are all channels stable and accessible via Mi Box ? I am thinking to replace astro and hyppty if the channels are the same. Anyone can advise on this, thanks.

I personally had subscribed to the app called HDTV. It is very reliable and smooth running on my Mibox3. biggrin.gif

Mibox 3 is more reliable compare to the Turbo Box. You can subscribe to the app called HDTV which is more stable and can watch the Astrox Channels. Save some money for you. smile.gif

Hi guys,

My Dad r english movie n football channel fans , mom r korea drama fans , but the tv channel pictures is not clear , so Plan to get one Mibox for my parents .

Had no idea what this Mibox how to use and what can do, hope you guys can help me out.

Ok , First my home internet speed : Maxis Fiber 10mbps

Q1. Which version to get is better and easy? Cracked or Original ?

Q2. I have go thru the comment above , realize you guys r using some apps call " xbmc" and "Kodi" . is this two apps , just install into Mibox and directly can use to surf movies or i have go thru some setting by myself?

Q3. Does have big issue with using Mibox load movie or drama with WiFi connection ?will effect the buffing speed ? Or recommend using LAN to connect with my modem ? Because there's a distance between TV and Modem (around 100cm)

Q4. Cracked version Mibox is using VPN connect to China and other country to load their Drama n movies right ? From what i know VPN has no free to use, but the seller told me the VPN install into their Mibox is can use for forever. Is this possible ?

Hope anyone can answer me these question, because the place I live there's no nearby shop is selling Mibox , so I only can get it from online seller. Afraid they r not doing after sales service.

Thank you

currently mi tv2 user.think the way it run same as mibox.
1.using maxis fiber 10mps,no problem.
better get a crack version as save worry about download apps, get english surface.

2.xbmc=kodi(new name) you need to do more than just install,add-on,add source.check it out from here.
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3139601

3.confirm lan better than using wifi.it will be lag if sharing too many device.

4.mostly the vpn they download for you is those free vpn from apps shop.free vpn always unstable, some time it works, some time it dont.but free, cant expect much.if want stable vpn need go for pay vpn.can try this.got free trial

uninstall unnecessarily apps and go into settings -> apps -> clear cache.

Just wanted to share, I have recently moved to a place where Unifi is not available yet and Streamyx only supports up to the 2Mbps package.

So I have no choice but to subscribe to Streamyx 2Mbps, just got it installed yesterday and tested out my Mi Box Mini, it works. streaming was all smooth.

Just wanted to share, I have recently moved to a place where Unifi is not available yet and Streamyx only supports up to the 2Mbps package.

So I have no choice but to subscribe to Streamyx 2Mbps, just got it installed yesterday and tested out my Mi Box Mini, it works. streaming was all smooth.

if usingMi-Box + PC surfing Internet, really ok?

no buffering/lagging?

Hi guys,

No one using youtube on Xiaomi Mi Box?

Just some feedback - Youtube works fine, just that without login, you will not be able to retrieve your watch list / subscribed channels.

If u want to downgrade just go to the update page and revert back.
Should have no prob becoz mibox will auto save previous version.

Hi Guys,

I've using an un-rooted unit and a VPN service to access content in China. Recently, the Wifi connection keep gets disconnected on its own.

The only way to reconnect is to reboot the Mi box unit.
during disconnection, the wifi setting seems to be disable. And the wording in Chinese says it's trying to acquire an IP address. I've tried static and dynamic IP settings for the unit, but the same still happens.

Any idea how to solve this besides using a fixed Ethernet line via an adapter? I'm hoping this is just a setting issue.

I'm already on the latest firmware.
Usually, i only use dian shi mao and the VPN app wang yun jia shu.

Rebooting the unit usually solve the IP problem, but lately, i noticed the reboot process seems noticeably slow.

Wondering any others member having same issue.

Hi guys, I have a MiBox (MDZ-06-AA) which I did not power up for couple of months and start using it now lately. But when I chose to power up the unit, the front panel white LED seems very dim and my remote control not able to power the unit up. For your info, I changed the remote control power (Sony CR2032), but still no luck to power it up. I even tried to press the Home-Menu button together, hopefully to bring it up, but fail too. Please HELP!!! Thanks.

Hi,

Thinking of buying this. I was a Chromecast user. I am used to sending my own Youtube account's content from my phone to the TV. I depend a lot on my account's Watch Later playlist.

So if I get the Mi Box, what is the best solution to achieve this please.

The Mi Box is not a receiver like Chromecast, is it? Can I just run the Youtube app from my phone and cast the screen to the Mi Box to have it mirrored on my TV?

Thanks.

Thanks for your comment but that don't serve my purpose. sad.gif

I think best for me is to mirror phone screen. Not sure how successful is that. Anyone tried this before? Otherwise I just watch Youtube on my tiny phone screen. cry.gif Or I buy back Chromecast. Ish. unsure.gif

As mentioned, mibox youtube unable to sign-in (not rooted) so "watch later" will not work.

The only solution is screencast your phone to mibox (same like casting to chromecast) or buy other android device that can sign-in youtube.

Yup yup, thank you. smile.gif I understand the Mi Box does not support Google account sign-in. So, the pre-installed Youtube app in the Mi Box is not useful to me. I won't be using it.

So I guess, my real question is whether anyone tried the screen casting function of our phones to the Mi Box successfully. Did you try it on yours Wacky-Angel? blush.gif

No, you cant do in such way. Me also having same issue like you

What i do is, Mibox -> HDMI -> TV -> Audio Output -> AV Cable -> Sound System

TV usually will default the Audio Output as primary, if no plug in then only TV speaker, just like mobile phone or laptop.

It worked perfectly to me. Hope this will help you out.

hi bro, thanks you for your replied.

Mibox -> HDMI -> TV , this part i understand, just connect my mibox to my tv with HDMI.

TV -> Audio Output -> AV Cable -> Sound System, the "Audio Output" here means the AO from TV or mibox?
and the AV cable is the 3 color red, yellow and white cable?

thanks

Nowadays LED \ LCD TV will have a Audio Out option at connectors part, it should be either coaxial cable in White and Red, or Optical Out, depend on your preferences.

Coaxial cable can get very easy, it comes with 2 colors (White and Red) or 3 colors (Red, White and Yellow). If you bought 3 colors which is the easiest to get, just ignore the yellow will do.

Having issues with my mi box launching Kodi. Everytime I launch, it's as if a first time activation. Then I get a black screen.

I read that the solution to this is to force stop them clear cache but my mi box isn't rooted so I can't see those android app management.

Tried using clean master but didn't work

Anyone have any solution?

Hi, I use "Tubio" to cast online video and "BubbleUPnP" to cast local contents from my phone (android) to my MiBox without problem. There are plenty of apps with the same function out there I guess u can get easily by searching DLNA.

No app required. From the homepage, just press the up key until the top, you will see the USB icon. Just browse inside and look for your apk file.

I have bought a Xiaomi 64bits unit and I zoom into the storage usage of the unit and I was surprise that the unit consume more than 2 GB for the system use only.

Another category is the "Other" section, it took 495MB. Is there any method to zoom in more and to remove unwanted item from there.

Care to share some method to solve my issue.Attached Image

2GB are reserved for OS partition untouchable.

Otherwise install "XH Home for TV" app and launch it u will able to see the "normal android" settingd page.

Kodi size maybe varies depends how many addons installed or enabled, plus caching it couls varies between 200mb to above 1gb.
It requires constant cache cleaning but otherwise its fine.
Xiaomi builtin app also takes up alot of spaces, some of it can be cleared without problem.

If u owned an older version mibox, its advisable to add in sdcard.
If the latest version without sdcard slot, well wait for xiaomi firmware to enable usb support for storage

I have an issue with me right now and I am not sure others are facing the wifi connection for Xiaomi 64bits.
Last 2 days I faced no connection from my router and my Xiaomi. I have on / off for both Xiaomi and router more than 5 times and it was still the same, no connection.
However yesterday it works fine but there was a short lost connection for awhile.

Steps I have taken were:
1. Reboot the router and tvbox, several times.
2. Checking the router setting, any restriction of number of device connection,
so far no restriction.
3. Others setting look normal (default) to me.

Anymore advise to troubleshoot this broken connection?

Should I need to configure the channel? and how to do it?

Guys,

Not sure whether anyone facing this similar problem.

My mibox2 would sometime face the disconnection problem mentioned by teniqcnerd above. And to recover i would need to restart the unit, but holding the power button on the remote and choose the reboot option.

I noticed sometimes the reboot just takes a short while, while on some occasions it would just hang at the ictv screen for a long time. Any solutions to this?

Try to do some cleanup of your Mibox using Clean Master. If possible, can update to the latest version firmware.

Hi. I'm probably on the latest firmware. Unless there is developer versions to try.
Also, using the builtnin clean master and shafa app, this cleans the storage when any app is closed.

But the long reboots and drop wifi still happens.

I have uninstall most of my apps. Only left apps left back are the xiomi app which I can't uninstall and less than 4 of other apps which doesn't take much space. Mostly 10-20mb per app

Delete files in ES Explorer. Press and hold the OK button in the remote control to select the file to be deleted. A box will appear at the RHS of the file and the box will be ticked. At the bottom of the page, look for the recycle bin symbol. Click the symbol to delete the selected file.

Hi, the latest model is Mibox3 64 bit with 1GB RAM and Remote Control equipped with Bluetooth Motion Sensing & Voice Search. You can found the model number from the bottom of the box which is MDZ-16-AA.

Still in the Wifi issue. Follow to the most advise give in this chatter and still very annoying whenever I off the unit.
Since this Mi 3 has no LAN support, all it depend is Wifi.

I posted and attachment and it said "optimize WIFI Channel", anybody knows what it means?

Hi, bro. Did you try change your wifi password to numeric only or try reserve your Mibox Mac address inside your Router?

2gb ram is rare and much more expensive. And sort of limited edition no longer in production.
Plus its old model not the latest 64bit processor

hi guys, just curious how u all maintain your mibox storage ? I kept received message from mibox saying that it is insufficient storage to upgrade the apps, advise me to delete some apps there. I have additional 8GB storage RAM on top of the standard 1-2 GB RAM (cant remember). I noticed internal storage was about to finish but the additional storage just used about 2GB only when I checked the system settings. So what is the best way to move the internal usage to external storage without affect the current apps installed ? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi MPK I'm also facing the same issue. Searched some websites also but haven't found any clue as to solve this internal storage problem of mibox. Another different forum posted the dude using multiple apps to try move apps to external storage but can't get it to work also.

This is what he said

"Hey guys,

I have Kodi (XBMC) installed on my Mi box enhanced (4K, 2GB ram). It uses about 1GB of the internal SD for userdata, which leaves almost no free memory.

Since I also want to install some games, I've tried to enlarge the internal SD by trying to move data to the external SD. I've used:
* Link2SD: works, but not possible to move data from internal sd to external sd, so useless in this case...
* Mount2SD: not working, shows external SD as not mounted
* Internal 2 External: not working at all
* Foldermount: not working
* manually editting vold.fstab: not working, no sdcard line

Did anybody try to solve this problem with success and how?

Thanks!"

Hopefully someone can help with this issue.

Afaik link2sd does not work unless ur box is rooted.
Which nowadays most sellers does not root because its more stable for unroot.

The only way to move data to sdcard is to reinstall the apps again (meaning u will lose the saved games/settings unless u know how to backup n restore)

Must install shafa first, then go in shafa install other app.

You need to test one by one which app can run, everyone line speed different.

There is a way to hack android system without rooting to install app into SD card. Follow the instruction at below link:

http://www.howtogeek.com/114667/how-to-ins...to-the-sd-card/

I had tried it on my Mi Box 3 and now managed to install all the app into sd card including kodi

Now there is a problem here. Xiaomi Gen3 only have one USB. After using that port there is now way
to connect a mouse to navigate the Xiaomi. I found the original remote is quite difficult for navigation.

1. Install kodi, however you want. don't run kodi
2. change the data folder to something like a folder in your sd card, or usb drive.
http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Change_data_l...ion_for_Android
3. start kodi.

as long as the new .kodi folder location is somewhere that has a very fast read access - like usb3 drive for example - you won't have lagging problems.

the biggest and important difference, is the absent of any peripheral port in mibox mini.no usb port,no mini usb port, no sd card slot (except one HDMI port to ur TV). thus u are depending on its wireless and bluetooth capabilites to connect to other devices/installing app.
if u r pretty handy with android device, know a little bit of Mandarin, it should be ok. u have to remember too, that it is quite difficult to install a working google play store on any mibox. u might have to use 3rd party store to install any app.

I'm considering this device *solely* for playing back movies using USB flash drive.

Would appreciate current owners' answers on the following:

1. Can it playback (decode) h265 movies?

2. Does it support SRT subtitle files?

3. Can it auto-resume movies? Eg. if I stop watching halfway, and resume the next day, will it continue from where I last stop?

Your answers greatly appreciated. TQ.

Install Google Play Service, Google Login Service and Google Play Store.

After Login Google Play Store, then YouTube auto login already, but Google Play Store still cant use.

Still try doing Play Store to use, if you can use plase let me know.

P/S: I no root

Hi guys, i'm a new user to Kodi and my current version is 16.0. I've put up some add-ons like Exodus, Genesis, Phoenix.... however most of the videos (almost ALL) just keep streaming and end up not playing or stops streaming after a min or two. Any idea how can I successfully watch the videos without any streaming problems? It's very frustrating to see so many videos that can be watched however the obstacle is the streaming part. urgh...Any expert Kodi users can advise?

5mb is sufficient. If u surf internet only, then no issue. U wont notice any lag.

RM450 lifetime for what package? If u know how to google, u can install a lot of app for movie. Honestly speaking mibox is not a good tv box. Low capacity of ram and internal storage. Not advisable to buy mibox.

hi ziggy87, my net speed is 10mbps and I own a Unblock Tech TV Box (Android based).

I've never tried clearing the cache. You mention that you clear the cache when video is not playing smoothly and after that it plays as usual?

Do you go into System or Maintenance Tool to clear cache? New user here..... so kinda noob. lol thanks!

low capacity yes, but you can add microsd card and mi box will auto-fuse that as internal storage.
try to get 2GB version if RAM is a concern

Just buy the MicroSD card to expand the existing storage if your Mibox have MicroSD card port. Buy the USB thumb drive if it is don't have. You can consider the latest Mibox 3 Pro which have 2GB RAM if you want. smile.gif

U can also find the mibox setting to turn on install app into micro sd. The existing app won't auto copy to microsd. Here is the link. TQ

Hi,

1) For the Xiaomi Box Generation 6 (2GB RAM), is the best deal on 11 Street.com (RM330) or you guys have better deal else where?
I see there's a very poplular seller on 11 Street called Botato with tonnes of positive feedback.

2) Do you guys missed the lack of Google Play market on this Xiaomi Box? I'm still having hard time deciding on other generic Android Box which have Google Play with this China Mibox which don't have GooglePlay.

3) Is the Xiaomi Market app useable on this box or is it limited access due to location restriction (outside China)?

Thanks in advance. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

After scrolling through endless choices of Android boxes, finally decided to take my first plunge into online video streaming with Xiaomi Box 3 "Plus" (white box with 2Gb RAM & 8Gb ROM). Got it at pretty reasonable price from 11Street at only RM300 (free shipping, after applied RM30 coupon), much cheaper than even prices offered by some seller here.
Reason for picking up this model was:
- This box has an Antutu score of 60k (almost double that of most other android box around 30k);
- This comes with a controller that has G sensor whereas most other android boxes need to buy additional air mouse;
- This box has stronger Wifi (2 internal antennas) than previous Xiaomi Boxes;
- Better build quality perhaps? After all, Xiaomi is the world 3rd largest smartphone producer after Samsung and Apple;
- It may have the best value for money at this moment, I can't find another box with similar or better cpu/gpu at the same price range of merely RM300. Some similar price range android boxes offer more ROM, but their cpu is inferior to the Mibox 3 plus.
Shortcomings of this box:
- I don't see RMVB as the video format supported (it seems the 3plus may support slightly less video format than Mibox3);
- No LAN, no optical out;
- No Google Play Store (this was the main cause for my reluctant to pick up Mibox initially, but then the main reason for picking up the box was for streaming video, anything else I can do it on my Android phones and Apple tablets, so shouldn't be missing too much I guess hmm.gif )

Fellow Mibox owners..

Im looking at the new mibox which is quite nice since it support 4k60fps. However, when I look at it, I get puzzled. As far as I knew, xiaomi dont support NTFS nor exfat. The wifi wouldnt be fast enough to stream 4k. With 8GB internal memory, it does not leave much room for 4k content isnt it?

I just got the mibox generation 6 for a week. I can't comment its 4k performance as my tv is only full HD.
Anyway, regarding your question:
1) Internal memory is 8GB, but you can add external memory through thumbdrive or external harddisk;
2) You can buy a extension with extra usb and LAN input to plug it into the Mibox. I see some seller selling it for RM39.

Sorry, I'm not sure what's the format of the thumbdrive or the harddisk.
The 32GB thumbdrive add-on I bought together with the Mibox (so that the seller can install all the apps directly onto the thumbdrive). So if you are buying new, might as well buy it together from the seller to save yourself the trouble.
My 1TB harddisk was previously used for storing Xbox360 games, I can't recall what's the format.... sorry.

Hi veteran mibox owners, any recommendation as to which air mouse is good for mibox?
Earlier I thought the mi controller (Mibox gen 6) can act as air mouse since it has g-sensor, but I was wrong to assume that doh.gif Now I had to plug in a regular mouse to navigate some TV apps blush.gif

Guys, any recommended DNS for bypassing Unifi blocking? I already tried many DNS but still cannot find a single stable DNS. And also what is the best app for watching latest Korean drama and Hollywood movies?

Do you mean video codec or actual player app? Well, as long as they don't "disable" the box completely for overseas users, I guess it doesn't affect us much as we basically rely on KODI and other non-Mibox video apps hmm.gif

Is there any way to rectify it?

Guys, just bought Mi Tv Box Pro edition (2Gb ram and 8 Gb Storage) white color, then the seller gave trial access to HAOHD, however the quality merely average, like watching less than SD resolutions...

Any other recommended TV streaming subscription for MY?

What I know is this two only.
-MYIPTV
-HDTV

Or else I have to sell the box, as I intend to replace hyppTV from TM for news watching...

Note: using 30mpbs Unifi package.. the HAOHD/miBox using only 5 mbps or less bandwith in average.

to watch astrx? those are normally all pretty much in SD. even if the sellers say HD doh.gif sweat.gif

kodi is a must to stream movies, TV, sports, whatever lah that you wanna set up via the add-ons. Kodi will have HD and possibly 4k depending on the stream source.

cloudtv is pretty good. that is HD and can get some live channels, but need to pay for the good stuff. the free stuff really annoying as sometimes works, sometimes doesnt, channels move around and crap. i did the trial on cloudtv and must say its pretty decent.

head on to kodi thread to learn about the addons. Dramago and KissAsian in particular wink.gif To install youtube, you need to root your mibox. If I'm not mistaken, you can install that in Kodi too. Much easier than rooting and installing some google stuff.

I'm using the latest mi box (white) and been using the YouTube without any issue. But the thing is that I can't log in to my account. Anyone able to log in? Cause I can save the links from my phone to load using the box rather than typing the links and all.

When I press Log In the option came out n disappear very fast. Not sure it's a bug or what.

Hi All, how do you setup the Mi Box enhanced edition when they ask you for a China mobile number for verification? And how do you connect the Mi Box Enhanced to your laptop as they only have standard USB inputs? I only have a USB-microUSB cable but both the Mi Box and my laptop have only standard USB connectors.

But I think it could be related to shafa version. Mine is 4.7.7.

Ok downloaded shafa from shafa.com, installed the latest version.

Still found no youtube inside it. Is there anything else you did? Search for youtube, but only shows up app names with chinese "you".

Hi guys, sorry to ask this. I'm a bit confuse of the MiBox variance in the market as sellers used different name to sell it..

MiBox 3
MiBox 3S
MiBox 3S Pro
MiBox Pro
MiBox 4K

and with 2nd, 3rd , 4th , 5th generation which makes it more confusing..

Anyone care to enlighten me? Like sorting from old to new so at least i know which is the latest one..

Thanks.

I think those are the seller self proclaim..haha..some of them will do all the setup for you, hence pro..prolly..maybe..best you ask from the seller.

AFAIK, the latest gen normal version is black and the pro version is white that comes with 8gb internal storage vs 1 gb, 2 usb slots vs 1.

Bought the Mi Box 3 Enhanced version cos some forummers here say its good....but is it really?

Comes out of the box in Chinese and installing Shafa still its pretty much 70%-80% Chinese.

Spent one whole evening trying to root the device, without a keyboard for input it was a pain and slowed down my progress.

Spent another day trying to set up Play Store, Youtube and Kodi....

Now my Kodi is setup and Kodi is great, but the GITV is still in Chinese and I have no idea how to use it. The GITV really sucks and I hate it.

Seems like I should have bought the Minix U1 instead. Would have saved me quite a lot of hassle and seems like the interface is better.

As this is my first week using it I want to give it the benefit of the doubt. Maybe I missed out some cool feature of the Mi Box. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

What is so good about the Mi Box? Can someone explain why it is so popular?

Hmmm..Mi Box is just an android box. So yeah, for your Play Store and YouTube, you need to root your device. Alternatively if you want to install any apps that you want, you can download the apk file using your pc and transfer the file over to install. Remember, this is a Chinese android box, not a google android hence rooting is require to get YouTube. You don't really need Playstore though blush.gif I face the same thing like you when I first got my Mi Box, only to realize that this is android..lel..not like our phone, its different. rclxm9.gif The only thing that I can't run now is still YouTube, I use my phone to cast instead, for now, too lazy to find another solution.

What is GITV though? You bought the pro version? If you don't want then sell to me at cheaper price biggrin.gif

Look for other addon source maybe for HD picture. Personally i think it is quite hard to get good quality picture from kodi. Even if manage to find one hard to maintain its availability. If picture quality is your concern stick back with axtrok

Basically you don't need to root the box to get it to work. Look for other apk to watch instead of the bundle Gitv. Mi box was popular due to marketing gimmick i guess.

The issue is not about where the youtube from, but the normal youtube normal app doesn't play video. This is mibox issue.
In order to use Youtube, you need to install YOUTUBE TV.

You can install the Alternate App Store - APKPURE - https://apkpure.com/apkpure-app.html
Then you can download "YouTube for Android TV" and install directly into mibox.

Besides Youtube TV app, you need to install other Google Service too.
Download and install all the APK from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?mfek7zqrrp36c

Hope this helps.

Just wanna check with you all, I just got myself a Mi Box 3 PRo as a gift from friend, got it from China.

But the thing is, I'm not sure whether it will work here or do I need to crack it?

Depends on what you wanna do. You wont be able to use the native apps to watch movies. That leads you to installing apps like kodi to watch or any other smile.gif just need to download the apk file and install it in your mibox smile.gif

Hello,

I am new to the Mi Box. Where do you buy your Mi Box? Local shop or online? I am location in Penang.

Do you get the "jailbreak" version? From this forum, I read something you can install different apk so you can watch TV program from China/Hong Kong.

Also, what is the minimum broadband speed for this to work?

Currently has Astro at home, quality/service is not that good. Looking for alternative

Thanks in advance. rclxms.gif

Yes. But some of the apps are still limited for China viewing only.
