lady's choice peanut butter, theres 3 kinds of it but just take the peanut butter, dont take peanut spread usually its cost less rm1-2 than peanut butter. Peanut spread has less umph than peanut butter.

**for those who suffer gastric but wanna gain weight, i know its difficult, i also suffer that illness coz we cant just eat anything afraid of vomit, bloat n etc. what we can do is eat more natural food. Peanut butter is hard to digest cause of it thickness. Instead of peanut butter, eat the raw one like almonds, walnut, hazelnut etc. What i did myself is buy 500g almonds n 500g walnut (stock for 1 month) at bakery shop. Then at night after 1-2hours of dinner, i consume half cup of it (average 30-35pcs) + 2 whole wheat bread n a glass of plain water = the whole set contribute about 350-380kcal. Lastly i see result, instead of average 4kg for non-gastric guy can gain a month, i only gain 2kg a month, yes slow but still a progress, means 1kg of almond&walnut gains u 2kg of weight.
**but i still jelly at peanut butter..haha smile.gif

For some of us, is the reason we cant gain weight caused by genetic factor ?

No matter how much we eat healthy, or work out, we cant just get fatter/fitter..

Nope. Utterly bullshit. Unless you can give us proof that:
1. You've calculated your Daily Calorie Intake correctly.
2. You've consumed adequate food to grow by creating calorie surplus.

yet you still won't grow, I'll trust you. But before that, it's bs.

been eating 5 times a day compared to 3 times a day for the past 3 months. i've exercised 2-3 times a week, once during weekends and the others during early morning in weekdays before going to work (went to the park at 5am lol... i'm too shy and tired to exercise post-work). my workouts consist of bodyweight stuff like push-ups, pull-ups and stuff. the park that i went got these outdoor gym like rowing machine, chest pump-up and whatnot so i try to utilize them as much as possible.

last month i weigh myself at the mall and i only get 1 pound (0.5kg) increment from 62kg to 62.5kg. disappointing... i'll weigh myself again early next month/year. hopefully i'll add another 2 pounds this time. *finger crossed*

i'm 175cm btw. my BMI is normal (around 20) but i wanna increase my weigh to 68-70kg (BMI 22).

Hi guys, I understand that this is a gain weight thread, but my question's on lose weight, I didn't want to specifically create a thread asking about eating well so I just thought I'd post it here.

So I wanna ask about losing weight/getting leaner instead. My trainer has been complaining I'm not eating well lately and I do acknowledge that. I used to be an ectomorph, but I think I am a mesomorph now since I gained some considerable weight (in between body weight, correct me if I am wrong, basically the medium body size ones).

So the first thing I wanna ask is, is it possible to gain muscles without taking protein shakes?

- I know protein shake has got a lot of debate going on, but the general idea is that once you stop working, the fats sink in once you stop working out. So I'd like to know if there's a way to gain muscles without resorting to protein weights because I did indeed gain 2kg when I first took protein shake, and then stopped after awhile. Which brings me to my next question..

What are good sources of Protein? Usually the good source of protein I know are so damn expensive and I can't be eating protein daily because my financial means don't allow it or that I do not always have protein foods at my home daily. Either that or sometimes I go to places where I can't get protein easily (like dining in a place that does not serve salmon dishes).

- People always recommend Tuna/Salmon. I generally eat them, I take soy milk, I eat eggs. I have no idea what else to eat. I know broccoli is rich in protein, but I am not a fan of broccoli :'(. Protein food like Chicken Breast or Lean Turkey meat is not something I get daily so I have no idea. But I always believe protein is in whatever we eat, we just need to look hard enough. So can anyone suggest to me what other cheap protein foods that I can consume? And on days where I just absolutely cannot find pure protein foods, for example like tomorrow, where I'm going to dine at a cafe that serves steak, is it alright if I had beef instead? The menu included other dishes that do not benefit my muscle gain, the best option was a steak sandwich, so I thought I'd choose that.

I am a green tea drinker, will that affect weight gains as well?

-Can I know for those of you who are absolutely restrictive with your carb intakes. How much carbs do you limit yourself to in a day? Would you eat only half a bowl of rice to cover 3 meals of the day and eat more on proteins and fiber instead?

Thanks.

Yes, see protein shakes as an easy form of consuming chicken/egg. It's just a supplement.

It's liquid and easier to digest, so you can easily add it on to your diet in case you're lacking in protein. Simple as that, it's not a magic muscle builder nor a weight gainer.

The main reason why you start gaining fats when you stop working out, is because your food intake (calorie intake) remains the same, but you are not utilizing them (previously through exercise), so your body stores the excess calories as fats. That's how people get fat. Protein powders to not magically cause you to gain fat if you stop working out.

Eggs and whey protein are among the cheapest if you compare the price vs the protein per gram consumed.

Chicken comes second.

Just did a bit of reading on my side. So basically, as an alternative, if I take protein shakes only after I've gone through a gymming session, will that be alright? Instead of taking protein shakes daily like people recommend.

You need to calculate your daily protein requirement.
If you can hit your daily protein requirement then there's no need for protein shake.

quick recovery, i can lift much heavier and i looked bigger, not in a pudgy way but i actuyally like have gained weight and grown bigger on my upper body.

That's because you're on calorie surplus with that mass gainer.
Calorie can be any food.

0.8g protein / lean body mass enough.
1.0g~1.2g protein / lean body mass if your training intensity is high.

Lean body mass = Total body weight - % fat.
Example my bodyweight is 130lbs and 15% fat. My lean body mass is 130-15%=110.5
