However, in the context that I am not consuming enough calorie, I think drinking carbonated drinks may help me to achieve the targeted calorie/day.

Why haven't I thought of that. I used to think that carbonated drinks have more punch for the money (cheaper and more calorie). But I didn't consider the downside of it. |

gaining weight was never cheap, unless u stay with family n eat mommy cooking everyday. if stay alone u might have to spend xtra for gaining weight.
In between meal : what i can suggest u a way to save abit is buy peanut butter n whole wheat bread. i ask my cousin, he spend about rm60-70 per month for that. He consume 1 slice bread n mountain-full spoon of peanut butter (takes 3 sets of it) + a glass of vico. That alone contribute about 600kcal. now he gains 10kg, duration 2months. from 47kg to 57kg. **make sure u dont suffer gastric before u follow this. |

I recommend eating healthy and get rid of junk food. But very hard to avoid junk in Malaysia (cendol, nasi lemak, etc).
I highly recommend Scooby's workshop as your source of info. A lot of things in youtube but can't trust all of them: http://scoobysworkshop.com/ He has a few kinds of calculators for you to find out how much of food intake is needed depending on your goals. Of course, wanting to gain weight means you have to eat a lot more than your current diet! The calculator will tell you how much carbs/protein you need to gain weight based on your current weight. Since you have to eat more, don't just rely on 3 meals a day, which means you'll have eat a whole lot in one sitting. My advice is to have at least 5 meals (or 3 main meals and 2 mini meals) in order to hit your target carbs/protein intake. Ideally it would be 5-6 main meals but I assume we haven't reached that extreme yet For me, I know my protein intake cannot be achieved from food alone so I have to take whey protein powder as supplement. And don't forget to use those muscles/workout/exercise/play sports. Otherwise, those extra food you consume will just turn into fat. If you lift weight, also important to learn about when is the best time to take protein, etc. It's a long journey to understand all these things but definitely worth it! This is all from experience. I started gaining weight February this year. Managed to gain 10 kg and maintaining so far |

QUOTE(MiseriGhost @ Oct 8 2014, 09:26 PM) You have to examine the nutrition info label and decide if you need it or not. Most of the time, you can get the nutrients from cheaper source like rice. The weight gain powder formula is targeted for those who wants the simplest way to gain weight and money is no issue. Usually it is expensive. If you need more carbs, eat more oats/rice and if you need more protein, eat more chicken/beef/meat. More economical this way, instead of relying solely on the weight gainer. |

QUOTE(ktek @ Oct 5 2014, 10:49 PM) lady's choice peanut butter, theres 3 kinds of it but just take the peanut butter, dont take peanut spread usually its cost less rm1-2 than peanut butter. Peanut spread has less umph than peanut butter.================================= **for those who suffer gastric but wanna gain weight, i know its difficult, i also suffer that illness coz we cant just eat anything afraid of vomit, bloat n etc. what we can do is eat more natural food. Peanut butter is hard to digest cause of it thickness. Instead of peanut butter, eat the raw one like almonds, walnut, hazelnut etc. What i did myself is buy 500g almonds n 500g walnut (stock for 1 month) at bakery shop. Then at night after 1-2hours of dinner, i consume half cup of it (average 30-35pcs) + 2 whole wheat bread n a glass of plain water = the whole set contribute about 350-380kcal. Lastly i see result, instead of average 4kg for non-gastric guy can gain a month, i only gain 2kg a month, yes slow but still a progress, means 1kg of almond&walnut gains u 2kg of weight. **but i still jelly at peanut butter..haha |
