Hi.This is my first MOC.
I like the new Imperial Troop Transport but I wanted a bigger one to accommodate more Stormtroopers.
So, using just bricks from 5 boxes of 75078(with the exception of two red tabs on top of the front
turrets taken from 75079), I proceeded to make my own version.

Features include

- space for 20 Stormies
- detachable cockpit to access pilots
- gunner's cannon and both front turrets are on 360 rotation
- roof flaps open to reveal craft's interior

QUOTE(yhlee12 @ Jan 13 2015, 12:22 PM)
yes they have.. in lego certified stores and many of the retailers (bricksmore, impulse, mighty utan etc.)
all on RRP though.. none offering price cheaper than that.
haven't really check on other resellers, whether they are following suit or giving cheaper price
*
Not quite... Brick Santuary still offer discount for new sets.. 10% and if purchase above rm300 can enjoy 15% off..
waiting for them to stock up bigger sets.. smile.gif

Btw, is it true that UCS models can't be played such as the wings on the X-Wing can't be moved?

Im behind schedule as well. some 2014 sets not yet opened. Even the 2014 Creator sports-car-turn-dino also I havent buy (will wait for 10% discount hehe). I'm reserving these sets to be unboxed during "musim kemarau" next week that might last 2 months.

And 2015 stuff not a single set bought.

My resolve is unchanged, I'm still bent on getting hot dog guy and unicorn girl. I 'picited' at Box of Bricks for about half an hour but it's only about 20+ packs.

Definitely no hot dog guy but I'm not entirely sure whether the unicorn girl is still there. Good news is they're opening a new box tomorrow.

hi guys,

i m quite new to lego but i have about 3 sets in my collection as of now.

just want to ask, does the pricing change very frequently?

i bought the lego ideas Exo Suit for RM 250 at impulse megastore, then the following day, the price dropped to RM 200!

Another example: As for the ghostbusters set, it was originally RM 250, but now increase to RM 255 (same goes for other sets increase by RM 5)

First and foremost, welcome to the family! rclxms.gif

It depends on the supply and demand and sometimes due to the lifespan of the set. If it's close to EOL (End of Life), it will rise because it's no longer in production, making it a 'limited edition' set.

Take for example, the 9493 X-Wing Starfighter is originally RM380 (RRP) and since it's close to EOL, some are selling it for RM400-500.

So, that's why some of us follow this motto: buy now, regret later. tongue.gif

for sets before 2015, variation could be bigger since a lot of sellers import sets from overseas, their cost also varies.
2015 sets, mostly on standard price now.. aka RRP since source pretty much comes from lego trading. can expect discount of 10% from certain sellers perhaps.

back to exo suit.. impulse price was quite high back then since it was selling like hot cakes (they didn't change since day 1 of their announcement). now that stock > demand, easier to get stock so prices gone down quite a bit.

Anyone got the Year Of The Sheep set yet?

How does the mechanics work?

Must it be purely RM 150 spent for the specific theme or can mix and match example RM 75 worth of CITY + RM 75 worth of Friends.

And always wanted to get the Camper Van. I actually wanted to get it during TESCO sale but didn't. Ended up paying more for it now!

Some TRUs are flexible, you don't necessarily need to get City, Friends or Ninjago sets.

I plan on getting it for my grandma hehe tongue.gif

Congrats. I also have sets from 2012 (manufacture) that I haven't built.

Plus my Wayne Mano ... I mean Town Hall still stagnant at the Ground Floor.

Having a kid really saps time and energy away, amongst other reasons.
*
QUOTE(yhlee12 @ Jan 15 2015, 02:57 PM)
congrats alanyuppie. enjoy parenthood  rclxms.gif

so who's buying the sheep / goat today?  biggrin.gif
*
Thanks for the wishes guys!!! So the timer has started (ngam ngam 37 weeks last Sat). anytime now!

Currently the living room is kinda berterabur with some parts under the sofa and some of my display from Kidzexpo last year still unpacked and put in one corner.

Felt kinda weird not buying anything from 2015.. so I finally succumbed and poison myself with one single set last Fri after work. thats the set I set my eyes on after seeing the leaked pics last year. RRP at 79.90 but worth every sen:

http://brickset.com/sets/31034-1/Future-Flyer

Again I quickly build the car mode the same night... then the jet mode the next afternoon and kautim the robot mode few hours later.

My score:

car mode:7/10 - decent looking enough. Ball joints are used to pad up the build
jet mode:6 /10 - would've expecting a sleeker design
robot mode: 8/10 - very articulated especially on the arm and hands. Knee joints yay!! Looks like a boy-robot though, must be the gorrila arms + short legs + big head proportion.

pros:
- lots of hinges and balljoints big and small
- best Creator Mech so far from LEGO

cons:
- too many 1x1 round plates to "pad" up the design (no wonder the piece count so generous ... mostly tiny parts)
- not much standard bricks like 1x2 or 1x4 .

Well the reason why I'm rushing to complete the 3 alternates is coz I wanna MOC my own transforming mech from it . So I did.... spending few hours from yesterday to complete it. hehehe...

pics coming soon!

Bought 1 box at first, after build it, seem too puny to me, so went n bought a second box to add on.
tried transport of 8 trooper, too long too big, so end up with a 6 troopers transport instead.

That's why I play Technics differently now. Always build the B-model first. Then dismantle and build A-model to keep. If can modify/enhance it, then add motor/etc.

That's why I play Technics differently now. Always build the B-model first. Then dismantle and build A-model to keep. If can modify/enhance it, then add motor/etc.

this is a good idea biggrin.gif

i'm always build main model first, then only B model.
then i found A model is better, rebuilt it to A model biggrin.gif

My own Technics tips:
1) That brick separator is pretty much useless for studless. It's more for the standard lego studs sets.

2) To Push : Phillips screwdriver (test-pen). Either original Phillips, Stanley, or RM2 from pasar malam. This is mainly used to "push" those axles at the head/tail portion. I feel this is just a nice size and grip, with more than enough force. Hold the tip close to fingers, find your own rhythm, strength, and style. Much easier and stronger force than the puny brick separator. No scratch.

3) To Pull :
(i) Thin rubber grips. Any kind 10cm is enough. I use extras from my badminton overgrip.
This is the same grip I use to open those 1.5L carbonated drinks container. Sometimes it's pressurised so hard in order to open it.

(ii) Pliers : That's right. Wrap the item with thin rubber grip (1 or 2 layer), use plier to grip and pull. This can be done on any axle, but you must know how to grip using the plier to minimize damage. Assume the pliers grip top and bottom, you must grip X, not +.
X gives you 4x points of contact. + gives you only 2x points of contact.
Pliers must grip using the front teeth, not sideways.
For pins, it's easier to damage, unless you practise well with axles first.
Also, must not use pliers excessive force to grip and pull. Just enough inner force.
I did damaged a few pins and dented a few axles when starting. Now, I'm confident experienced when to use it without any damage/scratch/dent.

4) Push & Pull technique : basically combination of both #2 and #3 above. Sometimes you just can't push the entire axle out. So, push out quarter/half first. Then use the pull technique.

5) Pin : another pain in the sss finger. This one is easy, treat it as axle to push out.
The rest, just use the pull technique with thin rubber grip.

Edit: which part to grip ... the pin normally look like this from head/tail:
( )
grip both the top and bottom.
Don't grip left and right, the pin will damage easier.

There is a technique where you need a brick/liftarm with this "Utensil Space Gun / Torch ?" , so you plug the other side of pin-hole to "stop" it, and pull it out first. Then release this stopper by pulling out the pin. Then use pull technique above.

Don't know how to explain, I think there is some sort of video or other blogs/explanation on this. Some older technics manual has this as well.

Anyone who has tried dismantle 8110 front wheel hub-set will know the difficulty of the axle-2 (red)

6) Do not use pliers/test-pen as leverage or to skewer something. Metal vs plastic = metal wins. Use the useless brick separator as leverage.

tried transport of 8 trooper, too long too big, so end up with a 6 troopers transport instead.

Joker Land seems to pack alot, especially a well mix of heroes and villains. Funny that I was about to look for Poison Ivy minifig.

hmm i tried... max lift capacity for the crane is roughly 500g... much less than expected. But the lifting power provided by the NXT motor can lift way more than 500g, i expect up to 1.5kg... but when i lift 500g, some of the technic beam start to bend.... sweat.gif so i stop haha

Finally completed my New Year Day project... Constructions was delayed as my kids kept wanting to play "Masterchef Lego" after the kitchen was built 😅

I love the details of the set especially the kitchen in the ground floor. smile.gif it looks really good by itself and it looks great when placed beside the other modulars 😊

I'd highly recommend this set of anyone is looking for modulars 😊

i was planning to buy town hall this year 2015 since i assume the set will retired next year 2016 because it was on sale in 2012
after GE, should be petshop that is going to retired since it was on sale year 2011

but somehow rumors and speculation said townhall going to retired sooner because low volume of sales..and TLG already stop production..

thats make the price jump doh.gif

"I have also heard rumors that the #10224 LEGO Modular Town Hall may be retired early as that seems to be one of the least favored sets due to the higher price and lack of interesting details."

i was planning to buy town hall this year 2015 since i assume the set will retired next year 2016 because it was on sale in 2012
after GE, should be petshop that is going to retired since it was on sale year 2011

but somehow rumors and speculation said townhall going to retired sooner because low volume of sales..and TLG already stop production..

thats make the price jump  doh.gif

"I have also heard rumors that the #10224 LEGO Modular Town Hall may be retired early as that seems to be one of the least favored sets due to the higher price and lack of interesting details."

When I got it, I saw other potential and wanted to convert it to "Wayne Manor".

Unfortunately due to lack of time, the ground floor is as far as I got. Construction of Wayne Manor is temporarily halted.

Guess Bruce will continue to stay in the penthouse tongue.gif

Hey guys. I just got back into the whole lego thing. Kinda regretting on giving away all my old legos to my cousins. But glad I got back into it this year cause they re-released my favourite line back then. biggrin.gif rclxm9.gif

Collecting the 2015 Bionicle line right now. So far I am only missing the Protector of Fire, Water, Jungle and Stone and Lord of the Skull Spiders from the 2015 Bionicle line. Anyone collecting these? Oh and just to let everyone know, a guy in lelong.com.my is selling the bigger sets (Tahu, Kopaka & Onua) for the same price as the others, RM60. Lego shop and TRU are selling them for RM80. shakehead.gif

Anyways, does anyone know where to get all the old Hero Factory sets? I'm looking for the Queen Beast, Crystal Beast, Flyer Beast and all those other beasts lah. Haha. Currently looking for them cause they look cool and I'm wanting to make some Beast MOCs. thumbup.gif Thanks!

Yeah, plenty. I'm always checking the stock availability almost daily.

Sadly, it's the same minifigure box from last week. Looks like I can't find hot dog from this outlet until they finish selling all the minifigs from the current box.

It's very troublesome to post photos in forum. gotta paste this paste that. haha
I usually collect the LEGO that I like, not main into any specific series.
Now I have collected:
Grand Emporium, Petshop, Townhall, Parisian restaurant, Palance cinema.
Some DC Superheroes minifigures or sets.
Lego collectable minifigure series (not whole set but selected minifigure that i like)
Maersk train, light house, Haunted House, Camper van car and etc..

But it's nostalgic to me and my wife loves it.

Another set that I might get, but not at retail price.

I couldn't find Fencer, only got Last Samurai from TRU yesterday.

Easy to tell Female Cyclops, Carpenter are least popular.

While others not sure, this series has a quite a number of beard-ed character. sweat.gif

40 each? might as well buy a whole set. even if you just collect few figs and want to target that top 2, better buy whole set sell off / trade those you don't like at a slight discount.. save the hassles to battle with all the scalpers smile.gif

Hello, I am new to lego. I am just collecting Train set. The goal is to build something like this:

I recently purchased a train set (which come with sheep), and are willing to exchange it for some cash or rail tracks. Any offer?

The trains is roughly RM500. I expect the new train set to be much more expensive, roughly RM700.

But I will need tracks first. Since the new pack is not yet out, I will just wait.

Those are very old 9V train sets that you quoted.

Seems like every year, the City train set will come out with:
1x passenger train
1x cargo train (which is normally more expensive and bigger set)
1x train station.

Yes, passenger train set about RM400-550 +/-
Cargo train RM600-750 +
Train station RM150-250

You don't need to buy tracks rolleyes.gif Just keep buying every train set tongue.gif and you will get a lot of straight and curve tracks. The only one you need to buy, maybe 7895-switch. Or maybe 7996 splitter.
Cargo train set normally comes with switcher, so if you have 3x cargo train (or more), you may not need additional switcher anymore. 9V Crossroad 4519 already obsolete and expensive.

I only have one train set, so will need to purchase more.

9v trains are obsolete, now it is power function. Need to amass tracks to build until the ideal rail system.

Wow! You get to lug back something which is 8kg and all you save is less than RM200 compared with your local seller. I hope you did not spend more on your luggage space and possible customs charges etc etc, otherwise.... doh.gif

Obviously not quite free, need to purchase something RM150 and above then you are entitled one. Since I only got one set left, anyone want to offer?

I was rooting for the Light sabers, but I think realistically, Wall-E was the only feasible choice.

I'm still waiting for The Big Bang Theory.

Well, that depends on what range of lego and what place you buy. Last heard Isetan is out of stock for the Sheep.

Maybe try somewhere else.

My greatest disappointment with Jurassic Park sets is that:-
1) No original grey and red jeep wrangler from the original movie sad.gif
2) Jurassic Park entrance doorway with the Ford Explorer in original livery sad.gif
3) T-rex versus Raptor final battle in the main building

Also looks like Lego just took the old Dino theme Triceratops holding vehicle, modify it for the T-rex. Also just reuse a unimog design for the raptor set (of course, it may be argued that the new movie will have a unimog, who knows).

Think I'll skip the Justice League sets. Too many can't keep up

Oh look … new Robin minifig

user posted image

Maybe this is just Wave 1 of the Jurassic World sets.

Yeah, read that he's a trainer.

But read some "fan theory" that says Raptors should not be controlled by a human. If they can be trained/controlled, they're not "real" raptors anymore.

The same theory also suggests that Owen (Chris Pratt) may be the Alpha male type so the raptors are "afraid" of him. The article said that maybe Owen is "The Boss".

If you can control raptors, I think you deserve the title "Boss" tongue.gif

Btw, is it worth getting the Attack on Avengers Tower set for RM350 before the official release or should I wait?

if it's 20% off US RRP x5 probably can consider... for me that is smile.gif
why not wait for local RRP first? think the set gonna release after GST coming in?
