Anyone knows where to get catnip plant?
I did some reading, and below is what the plant looks like :

[attachmentid=7055801]

There is also another species, called 'acalypha indica'. In Bahasa, it is called 'kucing galak' / 'ceka emas' .
The plant thrives in our climate, so I would be hard-pressed if it could not be found here biggrin.gif

I'm not sure where you can find that in Malaysia but dry catnip works the same way.

You can buy catnip seeds at local pet online store. This for example:-
http://www.catsgarden.com.my/product_info....products_id/607

As for "pokok kucing galak" plant, I also heard it is easily available in our country but I also don't know how to identify the plant. sad.gif

I plan to plant the plant, then dry the laeves myself.
Not only it is cheaper, I can also give it to other cat owners biggrin.gif

I have a hunch that kucing galak / ceka emas, or whatver the local term is called, is the same thing.
But.... I heard the plant may give the same feeling as weed, so I am not entirely sure if is legal to plant it in Malaysia. Ha ha

And yeah, identifying the plant may be a challenge.... if you are looking it in the wild/jungle.
However, I think places that sells flowers/trees/plants may know it.

Trouble is.... I am not sure where the shops are tongue.gif

Makes sense, but cheaper would be a relative term, since there is effort involved in drying it etc. I personally wouldn't care to receive catnip from you if I could just plant it or buy it myself.

3 times i gave it to my cat, and he loves it liek crazy
but male cats, like what i read from research, only want its roots

female cats will like its leaves

yes they are suppose to thrive any normal wild herbs, roadsides, fields...

will post photo the next time i get my hands on one

LOL ofcz it is relative! But as I do like gardening, the effort / time is negligible (i mean, if I am not attending to the catnip plants, i'd spent it on other plants).
That, and the fact that I would want to have better use of my area. Well, flowers are nice, but why not plant things that can be for other uses as well, hehe)

LOL methink it is about individuality, not gender per se. Some may like the leaves, some the roots, some dun give the slightest damn pun, haha.
Just to be sure, planting it is 'legal', right? Read a few review that says the leaves when smoking can give weed-like effect. keke

Hi, need some advise.

I only recently started to place my cats in a cage, before this they are loose in the house without any cage. The problem is i noticed the cats always breathe heavily only when in the cage.
They breathe with close mouth and body will also move when breathing. When i let them out, they're fine.
The cage is outside of the house, at the balcony.
Is that normal tho?

Yeah, likely this. When free, they can find comfortable place for them to lie down whereas in the cage there's no way to go. They may also stressing out when they cannot escape from the heat.

If caging them is a must for you, they're a couple of options though. One, you can let them loose in the house during daytime but cage them at night. Two, put the cage in the house during day time, with fan turn on of course & outside at night. Option one seems better IMO especially in our climate because the fan likely just going to recycle the hot air which will not help at all.

Great advise. Thanks! The cage is actually in a covered place outside, im not sure if theres much heat. The bigger, older cat cant stand it in the cage, making a mess in there so i just let that one loose in the house.
The reason i have to cage them is because they're spoiling some sofas and curtains.
Maybe it takes some time for them to get used to being caged.

That means you need to redirect their scratching, not cage them. Get scratching pads or posts and put them near the curtains and sofas. I never cage my cats and they have not ruined any of my furniture.

Regarding comb, i prefer to use the plastic blunt ones, very cheap under rm5, can find it at mr diy.
I also have the furminator that cost Rm50+ but i find it too harsh on my cat,
she likes the plastic ones better, does not trap the fur as good but i mainly use it to massage my cat and keep her fur looking "brushed".

iinm i used to get the 2kg ones for around rm80. one thing i noticed after giving my cat royal canin it refused to eat fish anymore biggrin.gif . usually it has good diet of boiled fish but now sudah memilih and doesn't want the fish no matter how fresh it is haha tongue.gif . i guess royal canin is that good.

I recommend more wet food than dry food.
