Hi, need some advise.

I only recently started to place my cats in a cage, before this they are loose in the house without any cage. The problem is i noticed the cats always breathe heavily only when in the cage.
They breathe with close mouth and body will also move when breathing. When i let them out, they're fine.
The cage is outside of the house, at the balcony.
Is that normal tho?

Yeah, likely this. When free, they can find comfortable place for them to lie down whereas in the cage there's no way to go. They may also stressing out when they cannot escape from the heat.

If caging them is a must for you, they're a couple of options though. One, you can let them loose in the house during daytime but cage them at night. Two, put the cage in the house during day time, with fan turn on of course & outside at night. Option one seems better IMO especially in our climate because the fan likely just going to recycle the hot air which will not help at all.

Great advise. Thanks! The cage is actually in a covered place outside, im not sure if theres much heat. The bigger, older cat cant stand it in the cage, making a mess in there so i just let that one loose in the house.
The reason i have to cage them is because they're spoiling some sofas and curtains.
Maybe it takes some time for them to get used to being caged.

Maybe not used to it?

1. how big is the cage?
2. where do you place it?

I keep my cat in the cage when I want him to stay put (don't leave the house, or go disturb food or whatever)

When it's not cage time the cage is always open, and the fella will go back to the cage to rest from time to time, very natural .

Yes maybe they're not used to it. They're fine now, i dont see them like that anymore.
I let them out in the morning, and in cage at night. They always go back to the cage for toilet break and eat.

My cat is having abscesses on his head/ear. For those who dont know what that is, please google.
This is my first time having to take care of a cat suffering from this. Anyone experienced this?

Its an infection resulting from bite wound by other animals/cats. Its bloody, smelly, and the cat seems hurting sad.gif

This is not a vet forum. Please take your cat to the vet.

Im just asking if anyone had dealt with this problem.
And i already went to the vet, thanks.

What did the vet say? If there is medication, how long has the cat been on it?
*
The vet shaved his head a bit, cleaned the wound and take out some of the blood and pus.
I went to the vet yesterday, we'll see how he is in a few days. Theres antibiotic for a week plus.

Yes, been fighting with kucing kampung around the house. I let him out during the day, in house at night.
Not neutered yet. He will stay indoors more after neutered?

Oh my God why are you letting your injured cat out?! Keep him indoors. Less likely to get killed anyway.

Give the medication a week to work. you're not going to see any difference in a day.

Yes, neutering is preferable. Less pissing around, less urge to wander.

No no, hes staying indoors now because hes injured. I dont let him out even during the day.

He seems better now, the injury still not healed but he seems better.

Having 9 cats now, (6 offspring from a pair) and spending about RM 400 on food/litter alone. I think thats a bit on the high side no? Not including visit to the vet!

How do people with lots of cats do it more economically? Any tips & tricks?
