You  can show them 3-6 months of bank statement + income tax form. What's the point of puting at 3.3% when other banks offer you >4%?

If you can show them bank statement + income tax, you don't need to use FD.
*
They have my bank statement, my main cashflow is through Maybank, not really sure why they still need me to pledge FD. I know other FD is >4% but my main goal is to get the cards and not to waste money in the process so to say.

There is still a "waste" of RM300 annually to maintain this card.

From the opportunity loss of 1% interest on RM30k deposit.

Your FD cert is held by the bank at board rate (damn low). You cannot withdraw your FD unless you can show them proof of income. If you withdraw, your card is cancel

Bro, you sure or not that the card will be cancelled if he withdraws the FD after a year or two?

Bro, for those not needing to fly Business Class then I agree it is a "waste" or "lost opportunities" getting the Maybank 2 Cards Premier. Better go get Maybankard 2 Cards and earn up to RM600 guaranteed cash back.

But for frequent flyers who wants to enter Plaza Premium Lounges nationwide, the Maybank VI grants the card holder UNLIMITED entries plus 5 FREE entries to overseas airport lounge . And for those who want to fly Business Class, the Maybank 2 Cards Premier is the best cards to own. For those who spent more than RM50K per year either locally or overseas, by pledging RM30K FD for the Maybank 2 Cards Premier, the card can reward the cardholder more than 10 times the so called "wasted" RM300.

The Maybank 2 Cards Premier, i.e. AMEX Reserve and Visa Infinite has rewarded me and my family members close to RM100K worth of "FREE" Business Class tickets to Europe with MAS.

So, for you guys who DO NOT have a fixed monthly salary totaling RM180K/year (i.e. non-salaryman where income not fixed, e.g. commission based or like running a own business) BUT do spend RM50K or more a year locally or overseas AND want to fly Business Class for "FREE", [YES, RM50K spending with the Maybank 2 Cards Premier can get you a Business Class ticket - one way only to Europe by upgrading Economy ticket OR enough to get you Business Class RETURN ticket to Australia]; then pledging a RM30K FD with Maybank (and losing out a mere RM300 versus FD Promos) is a very good deal.

Many people have mentioned in Maybank 2 Cards Premier Thread that they pledged FD with Maybank just to get the Maybank 2 Cerds Premier.

Click here to my article titled The Best Credit Cards in Malaysia 2015 if you do not have the Maybankard 2 Cards (guaranteed up to RM600 cash back per year for local spending on ESSENTIAL expenses) or Maybank 2 Cards Premier (if you want to fly Business Class). And in this article I will show you that the American Express is accepted for many types of essential expenses.

And since I am talking about flying, and to save you some money, click here to my Facebook Page where I mentioned MAS is having a Post-MATTA FAir Sale now and I also showed that MAS ticket is cheaper than AirAsia!

Yes. Remembered I told you that I tried to apply for a maybank 2 gold card by using my FD?
Q If I withdraw my FD, will my card still be active?
A Your card will be terminated UNLESS you can show us proof of income (bank statement for not sure 3 or 6 months, or salary slip min 3 months)

I am surprised Maybank is so strict on this. I previously tried for CIMB & they allowed me to just submit FD slips of other banks.

BoomChaCha I just had a look back at the T&C from the first campaign (ending Feb), it says "12.1 Campaign Bonus Interest Rate on the 9m or 15m fd's will be credited to ... nominated ...Account upon maturity"

"Bonus Interest Rate" is defined as the 1.1% (for 9m) or 1.25%(15m) bonus over the board rates.

No mention otherwise ie no restriction on the Board Rate interest. And note that "Total Interest rate" is also defined as Board rate + Bonus rate.

So my interpretation is that the interest based on board rates should be credited 6 mthly according to the pre-printed notes we see on our certs. The bonus they will hold back & credit at maturity smile.gif

Let us know what their response to this is. Thanks

Boomchacha HumanNature gchowyh bbgoat ooops your SCB FDs weren't the recent 4.5% 15m deal, was it? That deal I referred to in prev post started only in Jan 2015 iirc. Since yours already 6m, means your deal was much earlier, right?

Yes, the sole reason I applied for M2CP was because I'm frequent flyer although all the tickets bought by the company who hired me I do from time to time went to airline lounges around the world. As for spending 50k yearly I think I can manage it by using the card to pay for everything that I normally uses cash.

I guess it's not that bad of a deal at all.

Well, probably I will pledge 30k with them for a while and see how it goes. Need to reconfirm with the officer when I do that, if there are tips of what I should ask the bank before agreeing to open a FD account with them, it would be much appreciated.

Hi all..

Can someone help clarify the steps to move funds for FD. For e.g. if I have RM50k in Maybank and want to open an FD with OCBC, I understand that I can use Rentas or Giro. But how does the account opening at OCBC work? Do I just walk into OCBD and ask to open an FD account with minimum amount and then go to Maybank to transfer (as I have the OCBC FD account number already)? Also, would I need to open a Savings account first with OCBC and then only open the FD account there?

Any information is apprciated. Thanks.
