Hello to all sifus here,

Today I found out my MBB conventional FD deposited via M2U interested rate were changed.

Jan and Feb 2015 I roughly get ~3.15% p.a interest which matched the advertised rate at MBB page.

Due to I credit out the interest monthly, this month I found MBB only give ~2.89% p.a. interest, there is different of 0.26%, is M2U FD interest fix or floating? Interest earned are subjected to GST?  hmm.gif

Thanks for the answer.

it is because February has only 28 days, compared to "regular months", you are "losing" 1 or 2 days interest.

Hi guys and FD sifus.

I applied for Maybank 2 Cards Premier and today they told me my application is being conditionally approved with the limit of RM30k against FD RM30k. Is this a normal procedure?

What is the advantages and disadvantages of this deal?

Hak, last week just placed for their 4.08/4.28% 12 mth FD. Now they came out with this one. Looks like they are trying to beat other banks' 12 mth 4.2%.

But at least PBB now is coming out with better step-up promo, unlike 1/2 years ago. rclxms.gif

Pros: u got a pair of great cards without submitting proof of income
Cons: your cards are good as cancelled once you withdraw the FD

Thanks for the reply. I did submit proof of income, but I think it was due to being a freelancer the bank not really confident if I can maintain my income months to months.

Anyway, didn't really see the downside of this deal so will visit Maybank branch to open a FD.

Is there any tips that I need to be aware of when opening a FD account?

Thank you.

Your FD cert is held by the bank at board rate (damn low). You cannot withdraw your FD unless you can show them proof of income. If you withdraw, your card is cancel

You can show them 3-6 months of bank statement + income tax form. What's the point of puting at 3.3% when other banks offer you >4%?

If you can show them bank statement + income tax, you don't need to use FD.
