I was just at UOB yesterday & confirmed FD promo 4.2% is still on but not applicable for the gold gift though.

Side tracking a bit, I was introduced to Pru Retire Guard & was wondering if anyone participated in it before.
The attractive point is that it can be withdrawn anytime after the first year & 6th - 20th year it will provide 7% guaranteed interest.

The only -ve is 1st - 5th year, there is no guaranteed income but 1st year there is potential of getting 5% interest.
It seems to have been in the market since 2012 (https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2497079/all) so wondered if anyone has gone into it before & gained some good interest out of it.

UOB FD promo, but better confirm first if still available:

Christmas FD Promo extended until 31 January - Minimum Fresh Fund RM50K.
12 Months -4.2%
*
Just confirmed UOB FD 4.2% promo still available till tomorrow.

But I should have gone for SCB 4.5%, only did not want to visit so many banks & had to go UOB since they have a special 3 months FD promo at 5.6% if signup for their retirement plan.

Yes, today CB also tempted me with the 9.18% FD 1 month AFTER I have switched some UT products. Luckily still have some fund that I can put there to enjoy this high 1 mth interest. Also will put into SCB second placement 4.5% but have to get their HQ approval.  biggrin.gif

I got no more bullets for the time being as want to maintain Xclusive status in BR & some monthly income from them too tongue.gif

Saw your post on SCB priority banking, afraid when their promos end & when moving out our money, we forget to terminate the status as they will charge fees for it if the balance fall below RM250k. Thinking of just terminating it now since not much use.

Beware of the SCB RM100 monthly fee. It will kick in automatically. I kena last year when my total drop below the minimum. RM100 per month charged to my account on the dot every month like clock work!!  sweat.gif  sweat.gif I found out only after the 2nd monthly fee charged as SCB is not my main banker.
Called to ask for waiver...they say if top up then can waive. I got no more bullet then, all gone to other FD promo.  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
*
tbheng, yes, is all written clearly on the 'Welcome letter'. That's why I was very worried when I saw RM100 EVERY MONTH!?!?
Worst of all, I didn't even get any credit card / privilege card with it unlike AMBank or BR.

Credit card, like all banks would require documentation from account holders. SCB offered me their pre-approved Signature Card but I didn't need it. And they would still require me to submit the usual application documentation like tax returns, salary slip etc .... which I really, really, reallyyyyyyyy hate giving  laugh.gif

Anyway, their Signature card only entitles to 2 or 3 Premium Plaza Lounge visit which is too few  doh.gif  Kedekut
*
I beg to differ, for Ambank, I was given the Visa Infinite as like a PB member card, no further documentation required from me.
(Sorry not promoting Ambank, but initially for sometime I was a PB customer at Ambank only tongue.gif)

QUOTE(cherroy @ Feb 2 2015, 02:22 PM)
I find PB or not has no difference one.

Nothing special, FD rate still the same.
Still need to Q, sometime the Q in PB counter (or in some bank they have a lounge) is longer (as may be too many PB customer or split it too many cert due to large amount hence take longer time for counter to process).
Many time resort using normal route instead PB one, faster.

I don't see anything special, in fact charges may be incurred if AUM fall below the threshold.
I rather to be normal customer, can switch all the fund if other have better promotion rate.
*
FD promo at Ambank recently gave additional 0.05% for PB but yes, only sometimes there is additional interest given.

For Ambank & BR, if you have PB, you can jump queue to the next available number in the normal banking branches.

But ya, I don't agree with SCB, in automatically making a person PB customer with such charges. They should ask our consent first like Ambank, I was required to sign a form to agree to being a PB customer.

I was thinking of joining AmBank PB. Did they explicitly say if balance fall below 200k or 250k (not sure of the figure), there will be monthly charges ?  smile.gif
When I placed my FD for 4.5%, the leng lui told me cannot split to multiple FD cert. Later one forumer said can get HQ approval.

Today I asked the leng lui again for 2nd FD placement, she said got HQ approval already but "subject to promotion still ongoing". Their promo supposed to end on 6/2 Friday.  biggrin.gif Forgot to ask her to get approval for splitting FD cert. My RM has not come onboard yet as just signed up recently (though has met him for a talk). Not sure will regret if get monthly charges of RM100. Have declined to join the PB few months back when the leng lui tried to ask me to sign a form for PB.  biggrin.gif
*
It is RM 200k but I cannot recall what the charges were if fall below it & believe there should be some fees tongue.gif
I think I will just try SCB PB once & then terminate it biggrin.gif Just afraid may forget to terminate it next year. sweat.gif

QUOTE(tbheng @ Feb 2 2015, 05:22 PM)
It was not JustOne acct, no such acct back then. I guess they will tag it to one of your CASA.
If insufficient fund they will still deduct and shown as Debit instead of Credit balance. It happen to some of my bank acct before but not specifically for this PB fee case.

Ok, point to note sweat.gif

Since bbgoat & co from Penang got hampers from Bank Rakyat tongue.gif I decided to try my luck today in PJ.
Though did not get hamper but still got an Xclusive umbrella & ceramic cup with cover.

This year's AmSignature's diary/organizer looks good too.

Here is the photo including BR's ang pow packets:

Somemore, I was requested to go to BR branch to pick these up, BR did not provide courier delivery just like Ringgit Plus..  sad.gif

Essence of Chicken definitely much more $$ than a cup & umbrella tongue.gif
Actually I should be more thick face & ask if got hampers or essence of chicken though even to get the cup & umbrella I must be in their selected list, must be their budget is low for that branch.

Sometimes you would be surprised, last time my RM in Ambank kept commenting to her colleagues I am one of their youngest priority banking customer! (not that I am that young) sweat.gif

I can still remember 10 years ago Public Bank savings account almost 0% interest when other banks still give some interest.

QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Feb 25 2015, 11:02 AM)

The branch is Nilai branch.
Chicken Essence is suitable for you.

Few months ago, I had an argument with AM Bank Sri Petaling branch when they did not allow me to put a chop/cross on my IC when placing my FD, the Chinese female RM (not a leng lui) said like this to me twice: "Mr. Boom, if you worry this and worry that, why don't you keep your money in your house?" This is the rudest RM I have ever encountered...!

Later, I found out Am Bank OUG branch is also under this female RM administration. So next time, I will not place my FD in Sri Petaling branch and OUG branch. And I was thinking to complain about this female RM to HQ.
*
Wah, Nilai branch too far for me cry.gif
I can get the Chicken Essence then sell it online tongue.gif

I think at Ambank, you can complaint as much as you can but not much change will happen.

The last time I went to the AM Signature outlet, I asked to check who is my RM, they asked me back.
I said I don't know ever since my previous RM left so they asked me to choose. I said anyone as long as I get updated from time to time but after suggesting an RM they did not make any note on it so I don't think they bother which RM will attend to us.

Besides that, I also got a few double charged transactions in my credit card 2 months ago & my online account was not synchronized for several months due to their system upgrade issue! So I could not perform some of my transactions.

Sorry, I did not make it clear, I do not have any FD account in BR Nilai branch lah..
My friend told me about this when he helped his daughter to open a FD account in Nilai branch
couple years ago.

AM Signature outlet..? Is this inside Am Bank?

I think everybody will agree with me that the most polite bank in Malaysia is Bank Rakyat.

KWSP is not a bank, but they are more polite and more professional than Bank Rakyat..
*
Is ok, my bad too..

As far as I know, there are 2 AM Signature banks in Klang Valley, one is in TTDI & the other in Jalan Yap Kwan Seng but I cannot say anything about the service at the TTDI branch as everyone seemed to have changed since they first started AM Signature.

In terms of service, I am quite used to the SS2 branch as some of the senior staff & branch manager know me through the years.

By the way, when you signed up your Am Bank Priority account, did your RM allow you to put
a chop/cross on your photostat IC?

Am Bank Sri Petaling at first did not allow me to do it, they said if put a chop/cross on photostat IC, Am Bank Priority Department will not approve the priority account. That's why we had an argument for this issue. Then the RM asked me to keep my money at home... rclxub.gif

*
Well, that is the good part of local banks. Once they have your details (which was many years ago), they never ask for it unless to verify during withdrawals.
When AM Bank Signature first started, I was called & met my RM at a restaurant which she treated me & just asked me to sign the form to be a member, that is all.

Initially I had no issues with AM Bank at all but when I attended their Customer Service session a few years ago, I was surprised there were sooo many complaints. Guess not much has been done since then & it only got worse.

I am surprised Maybank is so strict on this. I previously tried for CIMB & they allowed me to just submit FD slips of other banks.

Better use SCB online banking to check your money and interest...
Our SCB FDs that not receiving interest are 4.25% for 15 months.
Thank you for checking
Thanks for the update....  thumbup.gif
It is unbelievable and quite bad for a bank to have mistake like this; SCB should compensate
for our loss of daily interest... mad.gif    Otherwise...  bruce.gif
*
It is shocking but the level of quality here is so bad it becomes 'acceptable', some shocking experiences i encountered:
1. My terminated broadband with Digi suddenly starts charging me again.
2. When I was at Digi centre, a corporate client complained of so much dubious billing until the lines got suspended!
3. Ambank double charge me on some transactions amounting to RM1000+
4. Bank Rakyat did not credit my monthly FD interest

All this was due to system problems & they don't even bother to pre-inform the customers or be terribly sorry or provide some compensation.

So in summary we always need to be vigilant & check (not sure if such things ever happen in other countries)

Update on the SCB interest issue

2 days ago, I called and sent sms to the SCB Service Manager (just found out he is a service manager, not a branch manager as previously mentioned). As usual, no pick-up call and no
reply from him.

So I had to go to the SCB branch and talked to this service manager, he promised would
credit interest; but so far no interest is shown in my saving account. I think I have to
sms him again.. sad.gif
*
SCB seems no better than AmBank. Went there yesterday to check on my interest & open a 4.5% promo FD.
RM desperate for sales until talked to me for about an hour, wanted to yawn out loud!
After knowing I am persistent on FD, she didn't even bothered to check if my interest was credited.

But seems all my FDs last year was placed on option 3 so I hope I do not have to put up a fight for it. sweat.gif
Today I also heard there is a 10% requirement in savings for 4.5% FD even for fresh funds

Btw, SCB priority banking at uptown only gives instant 3-in-1 coffee / tea but Ambank TTDI has changed to Lavazza drool.gif

Ha ha, you edited the post. I was trying to add that there are complains about BR, yet BR in interest crediting is better than other banks.  rclxms.gif Service wise cannot complain too much also.  biggrin.gif
It seems to me they fixed their system so my later FD interest was received right on the day it reached 6 months. But earlier FD still not yet as they need to manually key it in.

So need to get back to them so that they can do it earlier. I heard that they are doing this manually and those that complain will get it earlier.  biggrin.gif
*
And I thought AmBank was bad. My SCB RM suddenly stopped replying me when I told her about this issue.
I am starting to think quality of work & service 'here' is hopeless shakehead.gif shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

As long as we get what we requested for is already a wow factor, cannot hope for anything more.

Anyone still facing problems with SCB?

Apparently, the branches will not take phone calls & call centre said must physically go to the branch to check. And my useless RM is avoiding me. Is been the 3rd working day since reporting the issue & no status at all! Looks like I have to go to the branch which is a hassle!

Maybe I should complain on their Facebook

Bro, your RM avoiding you.... maybe she resigned from SCB already on on leave. And of course, since many have been "played" out by SCB, time to switch bank  whistling.gif

Bro, you want to be a guest columnist at my blog? I would love to published an article on your experience with SCB.

HumanNature - or maybe you would like to be a guest columnist, the way you handled the "forced" deposit into Just One account issue can benefit many others so they are not conned by SCB staff.

I caught her at the bank just now though I went to the normal banking area & she behaved abit wierd. Keep saying need few more days to check so I said are you going to pay for the lost of interest on that interest? Anyway I said fine if that is the case, I will wait at the normal banking area for my answer today. In the end, she got the answer within 5 mins!

Apparently option 3 means I will only get the interest upon maturity & everything banked into my account. I asked her are you absolutely sure as I know it is a known issue & my friends also facing the same problem (thank you guys tongue.gif) , she said she already confirmed with the operations manager.

So now I can confirm my worst experience in banking is with SCB! How bad can it be, today their whole system is down, even queuing number also manual!

Bro Gen-X, you may reuse my comments, no worries. Service industry maybe almost hopeless but still worth a try highlighting.
