I think this is not accurate, as far as I understand, this 5% p.a. promo is valid for both new and existing Advance customers; however, is a one-time-off offer (we can only utilize it once).

I myself is a HSBC customer before I applied for Advance, and still, I'm entitled the chance to participate in this promotion.
*
You are normal HSBC customer and join Advance recently yo entile the 5% FD promotion?
If u are new to advance, iu should be still able to entitle for the promotion.

Made a FD placement with Ambank's 36-month 4.50%...then baru realised the maturity date falls on Saturday.

Read from here that Ambank doesn't pay interest on non-working day??? doh.gif

If I remember correctly, depositors for this particular FD promo can't transfer the matured FD to SA...only the interest earned is possible.

So I'm bound to lose my interest la shakehead.gif

Ho wmuch ur fd amount? But, u shoul dhave interest credit to ur SA every 6 months which is better.

I put 4.38% for 2 years for the following reason :

a) not using the money
b) no need for yearly "maintenance" tongue.gif
c) Feel the interest is quite good compare to tothers. The only one with so high interest is Ambank 4.5% for 3 years and MBSB 4.7% for 5 years
d) No stupid CASA which will lower your overall interest rate (effective interest rate)
*
Also, the interest for 2 years have to wait muturity before can take interest and are no compount interest,

Nowadays banks want to know source of our funds  tongue.gif

Last time another member mentioned he wanted to place a FD with OCBC but they told him to "balik kampung" and place the FD with their branch near to the address shown in his NRIC.

Yesterday I went and withdraw my money from UOB in cheque and cash forms. They also wanted to know why I taking out the money, For the cheque, I said to go deposit with other Bank's FD Promo. For the Cash, I said I going Genting  laugh.gif And they actually keyed into the system what I said  thumbup.gif

I then when over to MBB to deposit the cash into my Savings Account with the teller (as I wanted the money ready for Q-Cash first thing in the morning today), and they made me fill in a Declaration Form  stating the Source Of The Fund doh.gif As for the Bank Draft where I placed with MBB Promo, no question asked.

Nowadays, banks very fussy where Source of Our Funds come from, especially if you are new to them.

For BSA, the ATM/Debit Card should be free, quoted the following from Saadiq's Fees and Charges Schedule

Basic Savings Account-i & Saadiq JustOne Savings Account-i
Free Debit Card with unlimited ATM and over the counter access

*
Seems SCB offer better for Basic Saving Account

Other banks offer basic saving card with Free ATM with only limited 4, 6 or 8 time ATM withdrawal for a month.

You mean the maximum cash deposit allowed for placing FD is RM 30K in UOB..?

Last time I deposited cash RM 90K to HSBC for FD, HSBC asked me the source of
this cash, then I showed them the SCB cash withdrawal slip.
If a person pass away without a will, then don't make condolence advertisement in newspaper.
Banks won't know when a person is dead, so can just wait for the FD to become mature (provided the FD is joint name with either one to sign), then withdraw quietly.
The best way is to prepare a will, we will never know what will happen to us tomorrow... sad.gif

Normally, need to make a police report for someone is dead and dead certificate will be issues. NO sure bank will have the info for dead certificate from police.
