Hi everyone, how are you? I have been working in Singapore for quite some while, and am thinking if I should apply for a PR. I have some foreign friends who have been here for some time too but a big majority of them don't plan on applying for one since the "paycut" for CPF is pretty horrendous.
I am hesitating if i should do the application, and would appreciate it if you could answer some of my questions. 1) say i apply for PR, got it, and don't renew it after. Will i be able to still work in singapore (not having done the renewal), AND will i be able to take out my CPF since I am no longer a PR? 2) i want to bring my parents to live in singapore. A search online indicates that there is this pass called long term visit pass. Can i apply for one if i am not a PR (some told me there are special provisions for malaysians?)? 3) or alternatively i can apply for the social visit pass? does it work like a normal tourist pass which means my parents can stay in singapore 60 out of 90 days? Thank you for your help in advance. I have tried to search for the answers but the ICA website does not give clear answers. Actually, my decision to apply for a PR hinges on mainly bringing my parents over to SG, and if they can actually stay with me for long term without me being a PR, i might not consider applying for one. |

Good deal! 550 in fact is good deal! Now got one room, 2km from nearest MRT but can take bus to MRT, middle of EW line. 650 aircond wifi. Another nearer to MRT but also $650 still not sure got wifi/ac or not Aircond still ok... Got aircond also I on 1-2 hours only each day. Only sometimes sleep till forgot to off then very cold wake up off In fact I care more about WiFi Other rooms near Tiong Bahru, Redhill, Clementi etc want find 650 without AC also hard. Seriously expensive QUOTE(JohnJon82 @ Jan 14 2015, 09:28 PM) 600-700 got what?Actually after going through the room rental sites, I almost come to think that... Places near East coast (eunos/bedok/paya lebar etc) actually easily as expensive as those towards the West (clementi, redhill, tiong bahru etc)... It's like on average, Singapore room rental is already at that level Unless go up north maybe can get 450 500 like that. Towards the south all so bloody expensive This post has been edited by IwanAGP: Jan 14 2015, 10:43 PM |

Answers are provided as of what I know (I'm just 5 months here in SG 1) PR no need renew right? What you need to renew is REP. If you never renew REP, you still can stay in SG. But after you go out to MY you cannot come back in 2) S Pass/EP also can apply LTVP with conditions to fulfill. See the link above. 3) No idea Regarding CPF... If you're West Malaysian (Peninsular), you can only withdraw all your fund in CPF AFTER 55 year old and AFTER you renounce your Singapore PR status. If you're East Malaysian (Sabah/Sarawak), you can withdraw all your fund in CPF BEFORE 55 year old AFTER you renounce your SPR status. If you want to keep the SPR status, there's a limit in amount of money you can withdraw even after you hit 55 year old. |

I am using Citibank and can transfer between my SG and MSIA account instantly.Today saw the rate at their Currency Exchange Counter. Cash RM2.615 only but "Speedsend" 2.661. Asked about the charges the lady said around $5 for 2000 (not sure how true). But then... Suddenly system down, I want send money home also can't If got CIMB M'sia account, instant transfer. Other banks take few days according to the counter staff. As for rate, CIMB is always better compare to Citi |

QUOTE(ntick @ Jan 15 2015, 12:18 AM) Hello My friends just got offer from NCS. Hi, firstly do your friend know what NCS company is? NCS is outsourcing IT company which mean you might station in client company and your friend need to confirm where is the client company only rent the room nearby. He will be working in NCS hub ang mo kio. 1)Which is the better area/ HDB block to stay nearby? 2)walking distance to office and it is good if nearby surounded by recreation park 3) how is the enviromnet in NCS? mind to share? second, normally those area nearer to mrt or recreation park will have higher rental fee. depend on you whether you go for cheaper or for your comfortable. third, NCS is outsourcing company which mean they dont care about your career. they just hire come entry IT or fresh graduation people and put you on that client company. I have friends from NCS and they also saying that they wont stay longer. |
