Just curious... but with Macs, is there something you can use for MS Office files? And is there a good torrent p2p client? Now that I'm not gaming, that's all I use laptops for... work and torrents.

I'm looking for a new laptop but although I like how the Macbooks look, I have zero clue on Macs... Considering Macs this time around as any Windows laptop with equivalent Macbook form factor and battery life are way more expensive (like Thinkpad Carbon or Sony Z-series).
*

there is ms office for mac
no idea abt p2p

just paid deposit for my room ,will be moving over to there on 3rd jan

not the cheapest around but ,walkable in 7min to reach bedok mrt, quite good for me imo.

Which fiber optic broadband to get ?

saw M1 at 39dollar , or Mrepublic at 39dollar, singtel at 49dollar.

which one to go for? based on you guys real usage experience
*

do u know that porting fibre cost a lot?
if u move before the contract ends, u have to pay for port termination for the old one AND port activation for the new one which costs a few hundred bucks
do take note of this
this is the reason i am still on cable. laugh.gif laugh.gif

1. cheaper property. By renting out your Singapore HDB when you retire, You can live comfortably in Msia and even go for travel twice a year.
2. health care is a lot more cheaper in Msia compare to SG.
3. Msia houses are mainly landed property which you can enjoy your gardening during your retirement.
*

question here
if re-entry permit expires, still considered PR?
cause retire = no income...i doubt ICA will renew the REP
so if REP expire, no longer PR...how to hold the HDB?

REP can be renewed online before it expired, and is usually approved immediately, done that for my whole family, and remember to save the digital copy so you can reprint it when needed.
if it expired, then have to go to ICA with employment letter from employer, and is renewable on the same day, happened to my colleague. he forgot that his REP expired, and is blocked from using the automated clearance when he tries to go JB.
*

u do know that REP renewal can be rejected too right?

Anyone know whether we still can access our internet banking account for dbs/posb when we're overseas? Does the iB Secure device still works overseas?

Haven't bring it out of SG even once. Going to... Wondering doh.gif
*

Thanks for the input! It's for PR application..so that means the birth cert doesn't hv to be translated even though it's in Malay?
*

yup, no need to translate.

thank you for your reply Iwan. Just was wondering, if i have a PR, and if i renounce it, say after 3 years, can i still work in singapore under a work pass?
*

technically, yes
practically, may not be so easy to get the pass approved.
worse if u become a PR again, u need to "return" all the CPF monies with interest.

Same but ive finally got selected for 1st interview at one of the banks there. Anyway for bank interview, do we need to wear a suit or the tie and shirt combi would suffice?
*

generally, if u are not applying for a high ranking post, suit should not be required.
other than that, long sleeves with slacks and leather shoes would be best
tie if u wan to look more professional.

Hi,

Just got my international driving license, got one question.

I'm Singapore PR, can i drive my own malaysia car / malaysia rented car, into Singapore using my international permit ?

I only got malaysia license and international driving license. No singapore license.
*

i think PR = no MY car plate driving in SG

I drove MY car plate into Singapore last Friday to complete my PR formalities (gave them my EP and they wrote my new Singapore IC number in my passport).
When I drive back to Malaysia via Second-Link, the officer don't bother to look at my car or so on.
So my question is, the responsible (to check) lies on the traffic police officer or ICA officer ? : ))
*

when u came in, u are under EP...so they allowed u
when u drive out, why would they block u if u entered legally.
if they do not allow you to drive the car out, how are u suppose to get it out then? find someone from MY to drive out?
but most likely, you will not be able to drive it back in again.
i do not know who checks, but i am guessing ICA when they scan your passport.

ICA wrote NRIC# in your passport???

Hi,

I would like to apply for Singapore PR. However I notice that the e-appointment is fully booked till July 2015?

Do I really have to wait that long? Or is there any other way?

Like drop in the form in the ICA building.

Thanks for any feedback.
*

u can prepare all ur documents
everyday login and check to see if anyone cancels the appointment and an open slot appear.
