Here's spreadsheet I developed to compare transmission of various car type at redline and 3000rpm. It shows their theoretical top speed if not limited by engine power or electronic.

More powerful engine can afford to have wider overdrive gear ratio thus cruise at lower rpm, it is the transmission.

cool... would be interesting to also fix a constant speed, say 120 kmh for the final gear, then work backwards to see engine speed... with this can check where it sits on the torque and power curves thumbsup.gif

also another good speed to test is 70 kmh... why 70?...because some automatics with 8/9 gears will downshift from overdrive and run on gear 7 or 6... this will burn more fuel compared to lower powered car running on overdrive... lol

Not related with automotive, just car enthusiast. But my work is need linear algebra and calculus, so this spreadsheet is relatively quite simple  tongue.gif

He might refer to your info in the spreadsheet, not the spreadsheet layout lor. tongue.gif

and back to viva topic, I dont know why so many zoom fast fast flying on highway. its should be for fuel efficiency. but they all drive fast, beat the purpose. small engine drive up to 150kmh.kek. dunno what they trying to prove.
*
Yes ive tried once. on the Sban-PD highway.
Because the road is empty, decided to see how fast the Axia can go. About 140.
The feeling of adrenaline and plus the tune of 3 cylinder engine revving almos like a in-line 6.
Ego also. Small car able to bully bigger size cars.
Because kena before bigger car bully small car.

But i dont recommend on a stock 14" tyres. And yes, after speeding sure 1 bar of fuel level drop.
So yes, i know how it feels.
Besides i myself dont drive extremely fast in this compact car.

let's just say i miss those mco days

before this I also believe, rush hour traffic jam stop and go crawling it's what destroy the fuel consumption,
but after 2 months of mco with me still going to work using the same route with 0 traffic, end up using more fuel

so I don't know what to believe now

I jam save more fuel lol

I also feel something's not right with the FC.
Moreover I almost never used the aircond, no passengers, and tires are pumped to specified pressure. unsure.gif

Exactly my thoughts. My 2016 Axia E spec (Manual) does 16KM/L , sometimes 15Km/L if I drive hard and speeding. Mix city drive + highway. And with aircond.
Yes I know mine is manual, so your auto should get around 14KM/L on mix driving.

I noticed sometimes Petronas sometimes give poorer FC thats why I try reduce using Petronas.

Both same driving style (up to capability of engine) =D

Says a LOT about the fuel economy of large modern turbo engines coupled with DCTs.

By right your Passat should be doing slightly better than 10.5L/100km due to bigger engine and higher gear ratio = Lower Rpm / More relaxed engine .
After all it was designed for the autobahn.

Just for comparison my Exora when doing 130 constantly it does around 9.xL/100km , close to 10L.

As for your saga, well the older Campro engine wasnt designed to be fuel efficient even with the IAFM add on which only mask the torque problem.
Newer VVT protons are much more fuel efficient.

it's not as simple as modern turbo + dct... it's all about matching engine power/torque with good gear ratios for the weight+load of the car

I drove a 3.5L NA, normal 6 speed auto, 2000kg 8 seater once, and it does better than your 9.5km/l...
