I see the TM HyppTV discussions mostly divided and scattered allover to Unifi and Streamyx 8mbps or 4mbps threads in network and broadband category. Due to the home entertainment IPTV feature it has, I believe this is the correct place to discuss and share.

I am just opt for this service for 8mbps user, and activated not more than a week ago. Not much I know about about hypptv compared to our friends of unifi that already into hypptv since 2010? I am given a STB unit under Huawei brand EC6106V5 which is run by android.

I got few questions here, feel free to share with others too. I am on trial basis as if this trial ended I am only able to watch free 17 channels. Currently under this trial am still getting to watch all 64 channels.

1- How long this trial lasts from the 1st day of activation, some said 30 days and some said 60 days.
2- I am thinking to opt for Platinum and Sports Pack at RM30 + RM 30, so the next bill will be RM160 + 60 which will be RM220. It really worth it?
3- For the unit itself, I am find difficult to switch off it, do you experience the same?

1. i've been using unifi + hypptv for almost 2 years. my promo back then was 30 days for hypptv.
2. im quite tempted by their new sports pack since they have 2 astro channels but lack of Motorsport show gave me second thought. FYI, i only subscribe for Warner TV cuz got latest TV show like Arrow, Big Bang Theory etc. i don't think platinum pack is essential for me. I always watch Warner TV and Travel channel.
3. difficult to switch off? i dont have that problem. usually turn off the main power from the plug.

If we use hyyptv ....speed internet will be slow or statstik pakej we paid...

Hypptv uses its own dedicated line from the modem, so it wont affect your internet speed, dont worry

The Sports pack will be at RM30 if we register during the promotional period, any later than that will be at at RM50, me too find it tempting. What I am afraid is the RM30 price also is also a periodical promotion and still they will charge RM50 at the end
Yup, the model EC8106v6 what I am having now I have to press the on/off button for many times to off it, tried a single short press and a single long press also still the same. Switching it on however is normal.

I am feel confused how to use the remote, it has 2 power on button. The right on and off between the working and standby. The left one does nothing, what is the really function actually. Still, the on/off function either from the remote or the unit itself really bugs me

yup, there is no major issue of connection lagging if we use both the internet and hypptv at the same time. I tried watching youtube in fullscreen HD either in 720p or 1080p with no problem.

Sports pack mostly on football, no live badminton broadcast. Only got astro supersport 1 & 2 HD, but NO 3 & 4 which are mostly for badminton and tennis. I would've subscribe it to watch the BWF badminton championship if it has supersport 4...

yup, they should widened the offering not just giving the football highlights only. But football is multi billion dollar business especially the english premier league, most providers see this as investments and good ROI

Beware of the term & condition. I believe they will force you to bind contract for 2 years. Hate this, I'm waiting my contract to expire now, n may be change to abxness or time broadband for faster Internet speed wif less $$$$

yes I do aware of the extension of another 2 years contract and I don't mind that. This is due to lack of broadband choices due to my location is considered far and fibre offering is not possible. The available broadband providers mostly from the telco company and from Yes. The best currently is streamyx 8mbps which is what I am subscribing now.

I think for Streamyx the case is YMMV. Since Streamyx is based on ADSL2+/VDSL technology, the line speed is best effort instead of guaranteed. So depending on your line quality, HyppTV may look worse compared to UniFi. Also, HD channels may not be as clear because again, it's up to your line quality.

I am yet to see the HD performance under Unifi connection, and the same I am yet to experienced the HD under streamyx as well due to I am still using the classic 21" CRT TV under PAL but for speed I am finding there are no lagging playing hypptv and streaming youtube with HD fullscreen at the same time

Searching over I found this on how to 'give a learn mode to the STB's remote control. But this is based on the Unifi's STB and not the the current model for 8mbps streamyx users

The same method applies to current Huawei EC6106V5?

How about YouTube apps for HyppTV, does it working?

Yes, mine (unifi) is working well. My kids use it very often. TM if you are reading this PLEASE install parental control to block youtube (when need be).

confirmed, youtube is not included for this model huawei EC6106V5 as I checked every tabs and submenus under interactive option. But ok, not really a big deal for me for not having that

In hyppbuzz, the words are Promotion starts from 15 August 2013 until 30 September. Starting 1st October 2013, customers will enjoy this package at normal price of RM50. I got a question, if we subscribe this sports package now, will the RM30 remains even after the 1st October? hypptv use its own VLAN --> different route. same goes your internet. So, not effect your internet speed.

Lacked of menu management I guess, I am only see 'heart' icon representing the fav channels in guide but there are no options to group it all or to access the fav shortcut button from the remote control.

All these 33 channels is to be said under the Platinum Pack, but the real I am having now is channel 308 Sony Max is a subscription based which I need to buy for this, 833 Fried Chilies is and invalid channel no. Means to say, the real watchable channel under Platinum Pack is only 27 channels (minus the 308 Sony Max, VOD 821, 822, 831, 831 and lastly 833 Fried Chilies) and not 33 as been advertised.

Apparently, you can use channel no 99 to browse your favourite channel. But only 2 tiles/channels per screen.

I believed yours is using unifi with the STB supplied with it, I followed some instructions on how to get thing working but it was true for unifi such as 100 for mosaics and 99 to see the favs. For streamyx's STB, 100 and 99 doesn't work as it returns me invalid channel no. message. Since this model is so new, TM is not ready to documented what and which working for unifi and not for streamyx. For streamyx, to view the favs is guide > categories > my favourites.
btw, the Platinum Pack as I mentioned earlier about the missing channel 833 Fried Chilies, which is actually not. This channel is located under the VOD and not under the Live TV channel no 833 as been advertised.

Upon checking these channels, this is what I found: they are VOD channels been 'purchased' that will be expired on 11.59pm, 31st Dec 2099! see purchased history (yellow button) in VOD and see what channels that is ready to watch

I see, to go into the VOD is quite hassle, press this and that button to get them working and watchable. I wonder why they shifted Fried Chillies to VOD instead of Live TV, no wonder 833 channel is not valid no

I believe channel 800 and above are for VOD. As for free VOD until 2099, they are still tweaking it and will not last forever. That is the benefit of early subscriber. Last time on hyppty unifi they gave free point to purchase VOD when the purchasing point system are still in testing period. Manage to use it for few month until they stop it.

Then TM have to amend their promotional template what is categorized under VOD and Live TV. They advertised 833 is a bundled channel together with Platinum but the real is in VOD under Platinum Pack. Searching under FAQ yes they shifted channels 800 to their VOD started from April 2013.

It might be depending on the decoder. I'm using the old decoder and entering 833 on the control automatically redirects to the VOD page.

Btw, HyppTV now has a iOS and Android app for watching live channels on the go. They're getting serious in competing with Assteruk!

yes, this exactly what I am thinking, different decoder. But sometimes they messed up between unifi and streamyx which in fact given unreliable infos. From the hypptv highlight channels at 110 itself, any channels they promoted to enter mostly returned me as invalid channel number

Hi. I have Hypp Tv with Unifi 5mb. I live in Puchong. My hypptv is connected using a TP-LINK TL-WPA281. My hypptv lags. It gets stuck every 3 mins or so. Why is this happening? Is it because of my hypptv is connected wirelessly or are all of you having hypptv having the same problem?

New or old decoder? You using wireless bridge? I suspect maybe your wireless in your area not stable? Try using cable and see if got problems.

In details I am yet to confirm this, but if you are a Sports Pack subscriber, 2 channels of Astro Supersports (ASSP) are ready to be watch + some other sport channels in VOD which is not bad for price of RM30.

I think the purposely removed some other features from it and left the hypptv apps alone, to prevent any any potential software error that may occur. Just my guess. And the funny thing if we read the manual that came with the unit, we can download, install and uninstall apps

I made some suggestions to the hypp guy in FB, some of the how-tos, instructions and tips they documented actually true for unifi's stb and not for streamyx. They should review and revised some of the instructions which is for unifi and which is for streamyx, for instance I am looking high and low for channel 833 Fried Chilies, it always returned me to invalid channel number and lastly I found it in VOD. Unifi users told me if they enter 833 the system will switch automatically to VOD. 100 and 99 also doesn't work for streamyx's STB, the incorrect information really put we streamyx users in the lost

I suffer with the old STV (the silver one) when I change source on my TV to other HDMI ports and change back to hypptv port, the resolution goes back to 480p instead of 720p. Does the new stb still have this problem? The only way i can solve this is to power off and on the switch at the power socket. Can the new stb support 1080i or 1080p?

Android app is working ok, but I Can't see my subscribed channels like those i subscribed in my platinum pack...as for the ios version still buggy...it claim my device is JB but its not...just update to ios6 sommore

Thanks to @jenin for sharing the default password for STB EC6106V5, not much we can do with it actually. Altering any of the value inside could trigger the risk not able to watch IPTV anymore.

the most u can probably do is the refresh rate and resolution...other than that...i dont think u should touch any of it...

There are few options for this special password, IPTV setting, software upgrade and reset STB to factory sdefault. I don't see any refresh rate and reso for this model

after the new updates, do any of you find the aps like youtube for example in the hyp tv unreliable?

Hmmm... So streamyx users will not have shared bandwidth like Unifi. Makes sense, given that it's not possible to implement VLAN over DSL- Never heard of people stacking VLAN on top of DSL before. Still, better than needing to wait two years for the goddamn service to reach your area... If I had the option, I'd have gotten HyppTV over Streamyx first while waiting for UniFi.

8mbps users will be bundled with hypptv STB + 17 free channels. Premium packs just another option which you can read from hypptv website for more infos. Unlike unifi which has it's own dedicated bandwith for hypptv, as I been told by the guy from hypptv the 8mbps users won't enjoy HD programs as it shared the bandwith allocated for the internet, But for current non HD I am still able to watch TV and use internet or playing youtube without any lag. But still, I am happy hypptv user

exactly the same here, kinda disappointed with it as well. But not to put the blame on TM alone as Astro is the one who is pulling the strings, they purposely broadcasts the selected big matches outside the ASSP1 and ASSP2

Every successful pack subscription are subjected to 12 month contract, which in case you are going to unsubscribe it, the penalty of remaining months @RM30 will be imposed.

3 more new channels is coming, someone told me it is now available under Platinum and Mega

But the TV direct, do we pay this just to watch advertising channel?

Some news for Huawei EC6106v5 users, someone just told me that he managed to installed some applications such as youtube and some games into it, in doing so need to open the unit and he risked for not able to boot correctly about 3 days. But luckily he made it working again.

I terminated Astro and signed to VIP 5 in June. It's been 2 months and I am satisfied. If I knew I could watch YouTube I'd have switched earlier.

Channel [V] is now available in English in Malaysia again. One of the most requested channels to bring back since assteruk dumped it Take that, Assteruk!

We are getting 'locked' system which we won't be able to install anything on our own.

what do you mean "locked" system ? TM will know we install own app ??

To make it clear, our STB is not able to install any additional .apk files which other android usually does. Else, there should be a standard application management to install and uninstall and TM customized by removing it. That was what I meant by 'locked'. Yes, to my knowledge someone did PM me that he managed to hacked into the STB and installed youtube and some games successfully, but he risked it and his STB unable to boot for 3 days.

Are you able to watch all the EPL match tat is showing live on Astro on your HyppTV...i am thinking of cancelling my Astro n opt for this is i can watch all the match on HyppTV coz my Astro primary only for me to watch EPL ( wat a waste of $$ )

I am a subscriber of HyppTV sports channel. The two channels from Astro are only Astro Supersport1 and Supersport2. However, there are some matches which are not on those channel, so you cannot watch some. Nevertheless, there are many football channels for this package, all in HD! and you can even watch some of the matches at your leisure on VOD!

No you won't, if you really want to watch all live EPL matches better stick with Astro. EPL in hypptv only limited to what we can watch in ASSP1 and ASSP2.

Asking if you guys having abnormal hypptv (for streamyx) behavior this morning, only few channels viewable and the rest gone black which yesterday evening was normal. None of my subscribed packs watchable. Tried 100 and guess what, they expect technical issues to be treated and solved it on normal working days from monday to friday
