Y510p/Y410p/Y500/Y400 grey imported set (AP set) major warranty claim issues.
Beware of those cheapo US imported set (AP set) with same/different specs and 1 yr international warranty. Its best to avoid due to many potential hardware and no warranty support in MY.

Calling Lenovo Helpline and ask them to help..
Don't know what can they do..

- Major warranty claim issues on imported set((AP set) reported in local Lenovo facebook.
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2491914/+930
Case 2) Replied from Lenovo Malaysia in their facebook for the user who bought the imported set (AP set) quoted below:
Lenovo Malaysia:
"Hi Ms Radhika, sorry for the delay. I have intended to contact you as soon I was able to speak to the reseller who sold you the U300 but was unable to since their number was not reachable, however, in the process, dialled your brother's number which was written in the purchase invoice (thinking it could be the salesman's contact number) and I have spoken to him with regards to the management disposition on this case.

Lenovo management has decided that we will not be able to support your request for a replacement or refund because this machine is a US based machine. The dealer who sold you the unit is not an authorized Lenovo reseller. I have tried to contact the reseller but to no avail, in order to advise them the situation and for them to liase with you with regards to the solution that they may be able to offer you. I suggest that you walk in to the reseller's office if you also fail to reach them via telephone and bring up this issue to them.

Although Lenovo is an international company, the services that we render is subjected to the company's local policy and at the same time governed by Lenovo International Term & Condition.

For your existing U300 which are still at our service center, we will finish up the repair but there won't be any more warranty repair should any issue surfaces after this. "

Major warranty claim issues on grey imported set((AP set) of Y580 face by unlucky forumer.
Case 3). https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2637513/+51
QUOTE(skan1 @ Jan 8 2013, 12:37 AM)
Seller doesn't have original receipt for the laptops she purchased.

I bought 2 units from the seller above. One broke down in 18 days.

She told me to sent it in for warranty despite I want a replacement from her.

Nevermind , I agreed with her. Now Lenovo did not fix anything and sent me back a faulty unit. This part is not her fault.

But IBM Service Center offered me a chance of a replacement unit. However, they needed the official receipt.

I contacted fie. She replied me that she doesn't have any official receipt.

Laptop buyers beware. I just want to state to you all what I have gone through for 1 month.

She will try to reassured you but words are just words, she just does nothing and is only INTERESTED IN UR MONEY.

my word of advice to all of u , get from a store which has the official receipt.

Attached is my conversation with this person.

QUOTE(ajul @ Jan 9 2013, 05:07 PM)
i know u buy from her bcoz of "cheap"...not bcoz of "service" or "whatever"...if she provide u a receipt...sure all ur problem settle...
u need pay rm3x99 for local unit with that spec...but now u pay much2 lower than that...
got many other reputable seller sell same thing and can provide receipt but abit higher price tag...but seem u looking for the cheapest and prefer newbie than other senior seller....now u learn something...

receipt mention by IBM service center is receipt from shop u buy...not shop/supplier/distri receipt from their source...sometime they just need a receipt for a record and procedure purpose only before make any claim...

seller fault = bcoz cant provide u a receipt
buyer fault = bcoz buy from "newbie" seller

im here not to find other fault...i just to mention even this stock from US...u still can claim warranty here...but u must follow a procedure...some service center need receipt for claim any warranty...some service center doesnt need it...but if u want make big claim like 1 to 1 exchange, higher possiblity they will ask for receipt as a record...to record date of ur purchase...for sure receipt or invoice must got company name and a few standard template....
*
QUOTE(skan1 @ Jan 9 2013, 09:23 PM)
your wrong on this part.

IBM Service Center wants the original Lenovo receipt , not from shop.

I double asked them. That is what they told me.

As for the service center, it was the one at KPMG.

Yes you are right, I bought it coz it was cheap. It is also my first time I purchased a laptop. I wouldn't have thought about the possibilities of this situation happening ( laptop breakdown, crappy services, no official receipt and etc). A first for everything right.

Should I wait for the Y510 to come out? Or should I just get the Y500 now? Will there be major differences in terms of specs? And will there be a price drop when the Y510 comes out? Thank you.

Upcoming Y510p with Haswell core i7-4700MQ, swappable GT750M/Intel HD4600 with Nvidia optimus for longer battery life and lower temperature. It might come with full HD anti-glare screen, slightly slimmer and price around current Y500. brows.gif
No noticeable performance gain except Intel HD4600 and hardly any price drop on Y500 as it will be phased out when new model launch. laugh.gif

Its worth to pay extra RM100 for Y410p for longer battery life, lower temp, extra RAM & HDD.  smile.gif

Upcoming Y510p with Haswell core i7-4700MQ, swappable GT750M/Intel HD4600 with Nvidia optimus for longer battery life and lower temperature.  It might come with full HD anti-glare screen, slightly slimmer and price around current Y500. brows.gif
No noticeable performance gain except Intel HD4600 and hardly any price drop on Y500 as it will be phased out when new model launch.  laugh.gif

Would like to know any of you current Y500 user having any over heat issue with their laptop? Such as gaming on it without the Laptop Cooler pad will it cause the machine to overheat?

Hi! 3 weeks y500 user here! rclxms.gif

Well, FOR ME, it actually depends on the type of game i'm playing, and the overheat is not "OVER" at all. The temperature around the keyboard area is actually quite "warm" and "ok-ok" la... but the graphic card section gets hot after playing 2 to 4 hours of gaming (around high settings for new games)...
But the heat dissipates around 30 minutes after i exit the game (shows that y500 cooling system is top-notch! thumbup.gif )

Be aware though, I'm playing this laptop in a quite cramped space, non-air-conditioned room, no cooler-pad, and my laptop is not lifted a bit to allow maximum ventilation for my laptop...

So if u wanna play on this laptop with max performance while increasing the time-limit before laptop gets hot, u have to:
1. Play in a spacious place to allow max ventilation (Spacious room, vents of laptop not blocked, good air circulation in room)
2. Play in air-conditioned room (Well, it's cold, so go figure! )
3. Use cooled-pad if possible (costs some $$, someone told me to get CoolerMaster U3 Pad or something as the size of laptop is compatible with this cooling pad, price around rm75)
4. Lift the laptop a bit (place a book or something to raise laptop, as y500 has another vent-with-fans below it, which blows heat outside from CPU and RAM)
5. Don't play at bed or ur lap or something, it blocks the vents, reduce function of vents, and may cause ur lap to burn! So be careful.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Err... actually the definition of overheat = notebook auto shutdown @127C?
laugh.gif

New notebooks may get hot, but not overheat I guess?

Hi there. I recently bought a Y500 750m sli. I have been playing some games on it and noticed that there are white powdery substance on the bottom intake vent. I am pretty sure it's not dust. Also when I check my temps using HWMonitor I consistently get 85C on the ultrabay gpu and 65C on the other regardless of the game. Is this normal? Thanks.
