for me, i think it still worth to get broken webcam if u can get the price cheap coz i dont use it at all. when i bought y510p for RM2350 a few days back, i already prepare for a broken mousepad (coz i heard the mousepad is so fragile).

and buying US set should also prepare for no warranty as well. coz will u willing to bare shipping cost to US to get the laptop rma? plus i dont believe any laptop warranty except from DELL coz they will come to our place. i had so much experience wasting my time sending items (laptop, hdd, mobo, gpu, etc) for rma for a few months just to get back a non-fixed item. warranty is not a nice story for me. so i just bought as cheap as i can and repair it myself (or pay to the shop) when the day come. hopefully it can last for 2 years before i bought another new one wink.gif

I dont know. But does it worth to repair? even if the cost RM50, or RM20, i wont repair it. Coz if i want to video call, might just use smartphone since its portable. Laptop for me is just for work, movie and gaming.

Hi everyone, I'm considering getting a lenovo 510p and I have a few questions:

1) How does the ultrabay thing work.. Is it easy to buy and HDD to add in? Can I add in a 7500rpm one to use together with the stock 1TB 5000 rpm one?

2) How is lenovo's warranty service like? Fast? slow? Reliable?

3) How's the battery life? This site say that it's bad .. http://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/l...apad-y510p.aspx

4) Anyone have any problems with it in general?

5) .... How come malaysia lenovo site doesn't lise the y510p .. Is it available here 1 or not...

Thank you everyone

1) Buy universal 9.5mm caddy (dont buy 12.7mm). Its aroung RM65. Then pull out the DVDRW. Take off the bezel/faceplate from the DVDRW to put on the caddy. The bezel procedure is optional. It just a case to make the caddy looks like DVDRW

2) I dont know. But from what i read from Lenovo Malaysia facebook, based on customer comment, their warranty not seems friendly.

3) U r buying this becoz of gaming right? Then dont bother with battery. Gaming sure sucks battery. But i'm telling u the battery is small. so dont expect too high

4) Prepare for especially the mousepad. So far my problem only with wifi always DC when idle. Another thins is, when I connect my Galaxy Note as usb, it will DC when idle after awhile. I think its due to windows 8 extreme power saving mode. I'll install windows 7 soon in hope the wifi/smartphone problem go away

5) Buy and gamble bout the warranty icon_rolleyes.gif U'll have more peace of mind

I experience frequent lost internet connection on WiFi. The signal still ok and stated as connected but no internet. Then I DC and reconnect and the internet ok. But it occurs again after about 10 minutes.

Q1: Does this normal to Windows 8?
Q2: Does this normal to Y510p?
Q3: Does this normal to my WiFi card model on Windows 8?
Q4: Do I need to install another driver? Please point me.
*
A1: AFAIK, this is totally normal on Windows8. Seems to me everybody is having similar issue on wifi connection with Windows8 unless your router is right next to you. When I'm in US, i didn't have this problem and my wifi router is right next to my laptop... My phone, tablet and Win7 laptop doesn't seem to have any problem at all.
A2: It doesn't seems to be related to laptop models.
A3: All I know is that any wifi card (except the one that comes with Intel chipsets) will be affected. I do heard Intel wifi cards do affected as well but I can't confirm. I'm getting a new laptop with Intel wifi card on win8 for works in next few weeks (or probably months... we'll see) so maybe I can confirm that later on.
A4: Some say the problem does goes away with Win7 drivers. So maybe you want to check Lenovo's website on that. I dont know if there's any.

for the time being, I just use LAN instead of Wifi...
