"would like to know is there anyone here udgraded their warranty to 3 years? i use my lappy everyday, once in uni, once at home - with frequent opening and closing of the lid, would it make the hinge spoil faster? is the 3-yrs warranty worth it?"

QUOTE(sss2sssss @ Jun 14 2013, 01:08 AM)
For the hinge part I think no...
And also 3 years onsite and accidental damage warranty is worth it (for the onsite no need go for service center, just call them, accidental that one is more imba), although I din apply and I dun think now still can apply since bought the lappy almost half year ady..
Anyways if u have some ways to register that 3 years warranty in a half year-bought lappy pm me, I also want to upgrade..lol

#update: just found that we can extend warranty....

Ok, thanks for your input.

Dear forumers,

I have tried replacing my factory drive with a Vertex 2 SSD but it seems that I needed to boot the notebook thrice before it gets detected to boot into Windows; no idea why.

Since that didn't worked well, I changed into a WD Black with Windows 7 and sometimes my WiFi couldn't detect any networks; forcing me to reboot the notebook multiple times.

Updated latest drivers didn't help either.

Anyway, Y410p user joining the club. Hehehe.

Hi all,

i just bought y500 with pre-installed windows 8. i downgrade to windows 7, installed into miniSSD, since i dont like the windows 8 interface. the problem i get is about the touchpad, that seems like not very sensitive.

anyone got this problem or is there any links or tips to counter this problems?.

and one more things, why can't use nvidia driver 320.18?..

btw, Y500 user reporting.. smile.gif

refer to my earlier post about using ExpressCache for y500. Should be the same for you if your bios don't have raid config. smile.gif

It all depends on what function you want the msata to do. 1st, the chipset used in the Y500 is the H76, which does not come with raid - meaning that youc can't use Intel's caching solution.

If you want to use expresscache, just install the msata, boot into windows and the software will take care of things for you.

My rig is Y480, which used HM76 as well...
So that means if i want to use my msata as my bootdrive AND Cachedrive, i just install my windows 8 and install expresscache on it ?

Hm. Never tried it that way before, the msata I used isn't big enough for both. I supposed it is possible, but ultimately not that useful.

I mean, if your msata is big enough for boot drive, may as well spend a little more and put all your program on the msata drive as well for the full SSD speed.

HM76 cannot support Intel's SSD caching solution.

ExpressCache however is a solution from Condusiv (A.K.A Diskeeper)

Install the OS directly to SSD is still a better solution than ExpressCahce

Of course. Any solution that uses the full SSD speed is a better solution all around. I've said as much a few post back. That assumes however that affordability is not an issue. Not everyone can afford to splurge an extra RM400++ just to install a 120-128GB msata.

For now, the solution is there. You want cache, can, just stick the msata in an install the aformentioned drivers, and you are good to go.
