Try emailing Asus Malaysia & see how they give you the run around. I've done that when asking questions about a G55VX & have not managed to get a straight answer from them. Luckily however, there a lot of helpful ppl here in the forum who managed to answer my questions.

Hi all, I am having problem on the SLI configuration for Y500 SLI GT650M. When the laptop is connected to 170W adapter, boot up from previously shut down state, it detected 2 x graphic card and SLI function correctly. But whenever I restart the laptop, it detect only single graphic card. If I shut down and turn on again 2 x graphic card is detected.

I am running Windows 7 Pro. Please help.

Hi tph84,
have you updated the drivers?

Here is some diagnotics from Lenovo you could run to see what is wrong.

By the way, who did you buy your Y500 from & did you ask them about this problem?

Hope this helps

Haswell that ends well? lol

If can't get a Lenovo Y510p SLI GT750M, maybe consider an illegear RE-15 GTX765M.
Or go for a Lenovo Y500 SLI GT750M as the power saving for the Y510p is disabled when on SLI. & the processor is only a i7-4702MQ(2.2GHz) instead of a i7-4700MQ(2.4GHz)

if you're using a lot of engineering software, i.e., AutoCAD, Solidworks, ect, get a Quadro GPU as it is better at openGL.
See link below for explanation.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphi...GL.21333.0.html

If playing games, get a GTX or GT.

when is y510p out
*
Some ppl are already selling it in the forum but I think that they're imported sets.
You might be able to get one directly from Lenovo USA & ship it to Malaysia.
According to Hikari85, the local sets should be available by the end of August. (Better check with her first though)

From the Lenovo USA site (price in USD not including shipping or tax). 1 year warranty
IdeaPad Y510p Laptop - Dual Graphics - 59370006 - Dusk Black
Web price: $1,599.00
After eCoupon:
$1,279.20
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideap...510p/#customize

Not sure if have problem with the warranty here in Malaysia if we buy direct from Lenovo USA.

anyone tried crysis 3 on SLI?
*
I saw this comparison for the Y500 with SLI & without but it is for BF3.

& managed to find this one for Crysis, non SLI.

Guys i wanna ask which one is better interm of less heat n less problm?y500 or y510p srill in dilemma dunni wanna buy which model...

Both the Y500 & Y510P run hot.
Y510P runs hotter though but if you're using a single GPU instead of the dual GPU, you can enable Optimus which runs the Intel HD Graphics if I am not mistaken. This doesn't work if you've plugged in the second NVidia GT750M in the ultrabay though.

Which ever model you do get, do get a cooling pad as well.

Hi Guys,
I just saw this on the Lenovo Forum.
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-...RY/td-p/1113853

Basically, there is a problem on the Y series motherboards. If you were to use the Lenovo energy management system 8.0 & do a full charge & discharge cycle for the battery, the battery would stop charging.

Better read through.

So this problems doesn't affect everyone. It looks like mostly for the Y500 series & earlier though.

Lenovo Malaysia website darn farnee. Y510P is already being sold for the past 2 weeks & they still don't list it on their website. Maybe they need a new web admin.

*
Hi Tuyin,

Which model is yours? Y510P?
Another let down is according to Devour, even though the Y510P have a M.2 slot available, no connector is installed, so cannot install a M.2 SSD later. Not sure if this is true for all the Malaysian Y510P.

Timkai Lenovo, timkai?!?

Since you mentioned that you are waiting, can I assume that you have faced this problem & your laptop is currently being repaired by Lenovo? If so, could you post a report on how their service is like. Hopefully nowhere near as bad as the Asus Service Center.

Have to careful when dealing with some sales ppl. Some of them are either blur or just trying to sell without knowing the product.
Recent memorable experience.
Me: So does the laptop come with a FTL Drive?
Sales : Yes, can play any Blueray DVD one.
Me: ?!?
