QUOTE(ellimistx99 @ May 7 2013, 02:49 PM) Hello everybody, I'm thinking of buying this laptop. Can any of you tell me about your experiences with it? Specifically I'm looking for information about warranty as well as how cool it runs. I'll be doing moderate gaming. Probably HoN and Dragon Age, Sim City, and when the new GTA comes out, GTA5. I'm looking for a workhorse, something that will be on all the time. EDIT: Specifically I was looking for information of the y400. Price and spec of this laptop is great. You will not find anything at this price with the same spec. very versatile and great build quality. No regrets buying my Y500 till now. Conclusion; great spec, great value for money what more can you ask?

QUOTE(ytlay @ May 8 2013, 02:10 AM) Suggest u to get upcoming Y500/GT750m selling around RM28xx with bigger and better full HD screen, better cooling to suite ur needs. If ur budget is tight, then get Y400/GT750m/freeDOS selling around 23xx and use extra cash for CM u2 or u3 cooler, mSATA SSD to improve system responsiveness, upgrade to 3 yrs onsite warranty. wouldn't the y500 gt750m at 28xx not have 2nd graphics card? better get the one wit sli config for full enjoyment of this amazing lappy

QUOTE(ytlay @ May 8 2013, 03:45 AM) Yeap, Y500 with GT750m sli is the best for those who can afford. For those with tight budget, can get basic model Y500 with single card GT750m, later can add swappable graphic card(GT750m) & 170w adapter when available for performance boost. For new Y400/GT750m, probably no optional swappable GT750m as no where to be seen around the web. Sigh then it would be a grey set cause Lenovo Malaysia only sell the Y500 with SLI only. I would recommend getting a local set cause it is quite a huge investment. But that is my opinion since its always up to the buyer to decide.

QUOTE(kuroneko0509 @ May 11 2013, 10:08 PM) i think lenovo recovery doesn't works with windows 8 (not sure bout this one)... as for lenovo theater, basically it's a software from lenovo that adjust your laptop (sound & screen colour) depending on whether you wanted to watch movies or play games... there are differences between the modes that i realized when i'm using it before Yes the recovery works only not sure for the free dos version ya

QUOTE(fared isa @ May 19 2013, 04:05 PM) Hi. I have a question to ask, need your advise since you guys are Lenovo Y400 users. I just bought Lenovo Y400. I'm facing a problem with the graphic card Nvidia GT750m installation. The drivers cd that is provided with the set doesn't seems to help with the installation of the GPU. Everytime I try to install the driver of Nvidia, it says Nvidia installer cannot continue, this graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware. I tried to find the driver at Nvidia website and even Lenovo website, but still cant find any of GT750m driver. Please advise me on how to handle this issue. Its a very dissapointing coz I cannot fully utilize my laptop performance. Thanks in advance. Just trying to help here. i went to Lenovo's website and found this y500/y400 malaysia driver pageIf the latest drivers here can't work then may I suggest you buy original Windows then ask Lenovo SC to help install for you.

QUOTE(Beatmasta @ May 20 2013, 08:21 PM) i jsut bought the Lenovo Y400 which is running on Nvidia GT 650M, was thinking of buying the gpu bay but unsure if the Y400 supports SLi dual gpu card like its brother Y500 yes it does but its a different one from the one used in the y500 (same GPU). How come you did not get the one with the gt 750m?

QUOTE(Beatmasta @ May 20 2013, 08:45 PM) i didnt know there was a Y500 when i bought the Y400.. i was rushing to buy it as well..in replace of my broken down Asus G55VW which i broke one week ago.. impulse buying without thinking, but the lenovo Y Series impress me very much with its removable bay allows the user to swap according to ones need. Loved the Red keyboard light up..much better than my previous laptop.. and most of all its damn not heavy like G55VW 4kg weight..like a tank that one... this Y400 will be my good friend when i travel back to work most of the time traveling and i do enjoy my gaming as well thanks for the clarification on the dual gpu..it would be cool to see two gpu's running at the same time ( ishoulhave bought Y500) Well enjoy your y400. It does have a 2nd GPU, just I was trying to highlight that its not the same one as the y500. Seems the ultrabay design is different for both the y400 and y500. Last I check when I was buying my y500, the ultrabay GPU for the y400 cost rm700+. Welcome to the Y series club

QUOTE(billy_overheat @ May 20 2013, 10:02 PM) 700+? wow. quite hefty. i'm wondering whether should I buy that or not too. the performance will be increasing much? btw, i'm using notepal u3 but my y400 is still kinda hot. 60-65 celcius when i used it in the afternoon. night time, it's still good. 55-60 celcius. Ya blame it on the weather these few days/weeks. The price is high cause the ultrabay GPU comes with another 170w power supply. You will need it when running both GPU. Not sure about y400 but my y500 when running on batt the GPU clock speed is cap (SLI). You only get full performance when running on mains. The amazing thing is I can play games on my 51" TV via HDMI (I play World of tanks) in full HD while getting great frame rates. Currently no complains so far for my y500. Hope the same is true for your y400 ya. Enjoy it

QUOTE(billy_overheat @ May 20 2013, 10:21 PM) the recent y500 SLI is making me ya, the stupid weather is totally making me when running in SLI more, all games are supporting it? read a few pages back that dota2 has no luck on it? when you're running games in FHD, all effects are max? 650 SLI? Check with www.geforce.com to see if your game is supported ya. Ya mine is gt650m. You can download geforce experience to get the recommended settings for your games from nvidia, but I tweak the settings so I can balance the frame rates with graphics quality. BTW y500 is a full HD screen therefor my settings are the same running from the laptop monitor or my TV. I think you can't run games on max settings cause even though this is running in SLI (depending on which games), there is a limitation for mobile GPU when compared to the desktop equivalent. When compared to other notebooks the Y series easily beat them in terms of spec and price. Only gripe I have is the build quality, it could be better (when compared to alienware & other gaming laptops).

QUOTE(kuroneko0509 @ May 21 2013, 12:06 AM) for Y500? yes, there's local single GT750m release version... dunno bout the stock availability though Both y400 and y500 comes with a single card variant. But with 2 GPU the cooling is well design and can handle the heat. You will get hot air (sometimes very hot) coming from the vents but the keyboard and palm rest only slightly warm to the touch.

QUOTE(storm88 @ May 21 2013, 01:21 PM) GT650m... herm why don't just overclock it with 3rd party software? current GT750m is just a rebrand oced of GT650m and the cooling is just as same as the newer GT750m based Y400 Agree just an overclock gt650m.

QUOTE(xDragonZ @ May 21 2013, 03:04 PM) Lenovo Y500 keyboard is melting? When i buy the laptop is fine and now there's some little thing pop out of the keyboard key. seems like i getting more and more of that. Anyone having this issue too? http://i.imgur.com/YBgFHvU.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/9Q3xcru.jpgYour new computer comes with a protective plastic layer between the keys. You could remove that plastic to get rid of the bubbles. I remove mine the moment I got the computer.

QUOTE(xDragonZ @ May 21 2013, 11:30 PM) did't play game much, even I play I just play around 30 minutes per week haha Then just send to SC lo. I would the moment I find something wrong. This is the benefits of buying local original sets. You are paying a premium ya. If SC gives lots of BS then in the future people will just buy grey sets.

Malaysia set doesn't come with msata. are you sure? Did not see that when I took the back cover off. Guess I'm gonna open the back cover again.
