QUOTE(xtylish @ Apr 20 2013, 09:23 PM)
so my kind malaysian koliks are being kind enough to share how they plan for their future. from what i gather,

i should save at least $800 every month.

and then buy a property in Malaysia.

and buy  saving insurance,

because I don't have CPF (she said to cover my backside)

and it is definitely worth it to work in SG compared to KL.

I am still digesting and I couldn't see my future.

I know most elites here will laugh it off, but this i am just from a low paid freshgrad in SG from Malaysia.

I certainly cannot afford to buy any property or drive any car in SG. I am still searching for for a way to settle down psychically and mentally in SG.

is there anything else that i need to know or prepare myself for?
*
yeaps.. at least $800 is good..

dont buy savings aka life insurance in sg.. coz it is at least 30 years.. n u gotta pay non stop... meaning if u return to msia n earn rm, u still gotta pay it off which could be tough in difficult times... buy in msia is better, and since it covers death n critical illness only, if u mati in sg also nvm.. ur family still get the $$$

QUOTE(MiracleEverywhere @ Apr 20 2013, 11:44 PM)
Hi guys... if i tested for hiv and syphilis in malaysia bp healthcare... can i straight work in sg "found a job" without undergo their medical check up?

usually got 4 main, life, hospitalization, medical and accident

life - usually 25-30 years, if u buy in sg u must be prepared to pay sgd for that period... highly recommended to be in msia

hospitalization - pr pretty well covered with cpf or + rider, here usually companies cover too but very little, i believe this is annually.. can take in sg, if u leave can cancel

medical - out patient, usually involve minor cost.. company will cover this part, dont need much.. this is also annually also i think

accident - usually not much and on annual basis, not needed unless u r driving or riding bike..

I have a S Pass, so I am eligible?

Some companies encash the employer CPF together with salary for non PRs (like mine) to make their compensation fair to all. You could always after a year or so try to move to one of these companies.

Otherwise, nobody is asking u to get your PR right this very moment. IMO work for 2 years first, see how you like it here, if you decide that SG is for you then only apply PR. Although u are eligible now, if you apply now your chance is pretty much 0% to get approval.

Totally agree. try it out first and who know whether you will like it or not. Like me also trying to work there but first need to sort out my place to stay first. Of coz have to admit. i under estimate the rental cost in SG. Still punching the those number to see whether what I can do with my salary.

I think u r one of the many out there who have been staying in sg for so many years until u have lost touch to the reality in malaysia.
Sad for u for being so irrogrant.
Otherwise I guess u r one of the pemuda UMNO?

Why so many students, elite and kuli from Malaysia (and from Philipine) came over to SG if our country can provide equally good education and career opportunity? We have plentiful of resources, much larger land and sea area and more people?

We need smart leader and a whole crappy civil service in Malaysia to keep this thread going till v2020.

Or else we might have to move back to our home town earning good money, our kids playing safely with their cousin at playground and having dinner with all our family members.

Hisap ganja kah?

It must be nuts to wake up 5am for daily traffic jam at CIQ to get to school and work. Stupid to pay for COE while I can buy another new car in Malaysia for the same money. Crazy to sell a bungalow in Malaysia just to pack our family in a HDB. Spending more time with our phone instead of our home town Kaki at mamak stall...

All this just to show off our x2.5 saving when we retired back home?

Thanks for voting the right leader.

+1, and yet there are still some ppl in here fail to differentiate who is a right and and wrong leader.

Anyhow it's a double edge sword.

Vote right leader = RM2.00 to $1.00

Vote false leader = RM3.00 to $1.00

We all started using same currency before PAP split with BN. 50 years since, the rate went from 1.7 when I was schooling till current 2.5.

Only drug addicts believe RM will forever weaker than SGD because every 5 years the drug dealer will give them small dose of excitement an they will never see there are other capable people being denied a post at top leadership. Some of these capable people have to work in SG's MNC to live like a king in his own country. They fail to see that in MNC if you can't deliver, out you go.

No need to talk politics here la. Go to the right thread for the right discussion. Just keep this one open for discussions on working life in Sg. You can show your political ideologies elsewhere where you might be appreciated.
