Agent fee for your part - One year contract half month rental, 2 year contract 1 month rental. Owner will pay his part for his agent. Forgot need GST or not.

If you rent a room, utilities most of the time will be included in the rent. Share unit without owner mostly divide equally. Ask them clearly how much if not included. See first if new bill come in a lot more then ask you to pay those kind of thing don't belief so much. Be prepare to argue every month if not stated clearly in contract.

Something broke in your unit, who fix and who pay?

Lots of companies probably don't give AWS. (Anecdotal evidence alert) I have significantly more friends without AWS than those with AWS so it's probably no big deal if you don't have. I also don have.

Just came to SG last week and my current company isn't that bad. Work is work but if your superior & colleagues are OK then should be no problem. Stress exists everywhere even in Malaysian companies. Depending on the size of the company & the work culture as well but not all are the same.
Haha i signed a contract with agent laugh.gif so don't think I will be forced out.
If i go back then can buy tau sar pneah

Then should be ok, but staying with owner is still not as much freedom as having your own place. But I guess Penang and SG mentality are about the same so easier to click, haha.

Wah 9 people? How ur share the toilet? I use to share toilet with 1 person, and I usually spray water on the place you put ur butt on to offload. That fellow go and report to landlord I alway wet the toilet making it slepary. How about you when you want to offload what is the etiquette?

bro, 2 toilet sharing with 9 person meaning about 5 person max each toilet. But my case is at least 6 to 1 toilet wor. Not to mention if all working then morning time and night time will be quite challenging to get to use the toilet. Don't you think so...

so my kind malaysian koliks are being kind enough to share how they plan for their future. from what i gather,

i should save at least $800 every month.

and then buy a property in Malaysia.

and buy saving insurance,

because I don't have CPF (she said to cover my backside)

and it is definitely worth it to work in SG compared to KL.

I am still digesting and I couldn't see my future.

I know most elites here will laugh it off, but this i am just from a low paid freshgrad in SG from Malaysia.

I certainly cannot afford to buy any property or drive any car in SG. I am still searching for for a way to settle down psychically and mentally in SG.

is there anything else that i need to know or prepare myself for?

CPF can be obtain once u get your PR in SG la. Since you already have plans to settle down here. There is no nid to worry about CPF since eventually you will become a PR and will have your own CPF savings.

Regarding the fresh grad thingy, I am not even grad la, holding STPM only and working in a factory drawing $1.6k+OT. staying in JB also manage to get PR. you just need to know when is the time to apply and u can get it easily.

I don't think i can get PR. the chances is way too low. and i also read some posts that ppl are actually avoiding CPF?

and my colleagues also told me that we can never withdraw our CPF 100%. guess that the money will go your kids in the future.

so what if i don't have kids?

if you plan to buy a house in SG, you would definitely need the CPF. and employer is contributing 16% of your salary to your CPF account. so indirectly you are getting a 16% pay raise.
CPF can be use to pay your housing monthly installment in SG. Unlike Malaysia. Property interest is lower here as well.

for an example, you earn $3k per month, your Partner also $3k. The monthly amount that will go to your CPF account is $1080.

23% of your salary will go to your ordinary account which can be use to pay installment. Hence you will have $690. Your Partner also will have $690 in his CPF.

So if you buy a 400k HDB, monthly installment is around $1.6k for example. You only need to top up $220 monthly to pay for your housing installment.

Minus the amount you actually paying the rental now, You still save more money. So PR is a MUST if you really think of settling down.

Unless you are those type that want to save a chuck of $$ here then go back Msia do business, then you don't have to apply.

Regarding the other 2 accounts in CPF.

7% goes to Medisave which is for your medical expenses if you need it.

6% goes to your Special account for old age.

I have a S Pass, so I am eligible?

My employer is kind enough to gimme a S Pass because of my qualifications although am only paid $1.6k.

but $1.6k I can do what? like seriously? Buy a HDB in SG? Mission impossible I would say.

now I can only wait for the time to get promoted so that my pay can exceed $2k then only can get CPF right?
