Why don't just get a whole gallon of it?
I have one that's still with the seal on. But not sure if I would call it 'extra' though....you 'need' much?

i wish i could get the 1 gallon, but don;t know where to get. The last i contact KC from detailien, they said their stock is stuck in custom, and i was not sure is he carrying in any 1 gallon OPC or not.

i need maybe around 1litre, need to keep some and do some major work next month.

Speaking of OPC, I used it today to do spot cleaning at a 2:1 ratio on paint to clean stains. I have white paint, and the spot immediately took a lighter color than the uncleaned areas wink.gif

I know it is possible to use it as a pre-wash to remove wax and such, but how much of a dilution ratio should I use for paint cleaning? Should I spray and wash off, or place some mixed with water in a bucket and wash normally?

Optimum's recommended dilutions are neat - up to 1:3. I've tried with 1:5 & it still worked well. I don't know how the pros do it but, for me, I would wet the panel, then spray on the panel and lightly wipe with a damp cloth, then rinse the panel with a hose. Later on I would wash the whole car again with normal shampoo to make sure NO residue left whatsoever. Just don't let it dry on the paint or work if the panel is warm. The residue left *could* be a little difficult to remove later. Oh...and make sure no loose grits ya...they could be picked up by the mf then scratch the paint. Call me OCD but I'd rather be safe than sorry......

Got it - I'm leaning more towards the spray method or I will soon be another person to ask you for OPC wink.gif It's becoming a precious commodity nowadays...

You can see the color lightening below the curve - ignore the black spot, phone camera problem sad.gif slightly difficult to see it from the browser due to the poor color gradient but it's visible under the OS picture viewer.

Hi sifus, planning to get a wax from Meguiars. But not sure what's the different in between, any brother can share?
- Ultimate Wax
- NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0
- Gold Class
Thank you thank you
*
Hi there, I'm currently only used Ultimate Wax, but did a bit of research before buying. so basically, UW and NXT are pure synthetic wax while Gold Class is a blend of synthetic and carnauba.

UW is supposedly the longest lasting wax in the Megs consumer range. NXT seems to be glossier than UW but doesn't last as long. GC is the least lasting, but is designed to darken the paint of dark/black paint. A few of my friends told me not to waste time on GC unsure.gif

from personal experience, with proper application and buffing, UW definitely last longer than 1 week, but for how long, i wont know because I'm OCD when it comes to wax protection. I always top up with UQD/UQW (alternate) during my weekly washes and only re-apply UW every 2 months.

Just use enough to make sure you spray it on every single inch of the areas you're cleaning

The retail price I think you already know la...around RM80 for 500ml. I'm afraid you won't be able to get the 5L one over here......yet whistling.gif

Oh....how about trying out one of those spray waxes on the rims. Might not last a week but it is very convenient and doesn't take much time. I used to apply sealants on the wheels (before all these spray waxes came out) but surrender also....just too much hasle and one round of APC wash and it's all gone. And none of the coatings (except for one) that I tested also can last more than a month.....

Bro which rim coating that you used lasted more than a month and also what are the ones that lasted around a month? For my next set of rims thinking of bringing them back first for a full prep and then apply some coatings laugh.gif

It's the same glass coating that I'm currently using on the rest of my car. The original (1st version) Opti Coat and CQuartz lasted me around a month maybe two, others (not many) are a dissapointment.
Note: I gauge the durability by how water bead/sheet so the coating might (or might not) still be there.

Except for the glass coat (trying it on one of my wheels only), this was quite some times ago (especially the Opti Coat). Now I just clean them and use one of my spray waxes when I'm not that lazy....

Buat penat only if just use wax as it will wear off very quickly sweat.gif

To justify the prep time, need to use those long lasting coatings biggrin.gif

i remembered patrick from dodo juice mentioned something for wheels, however it was extremely expensive so i kinda forgotten about it sweat.gif

Wow.. was expecting more from Opti Coat and CQuartz since on the American and British forums it is claimed to last more than a year sweat.gif

Looking at the feedback from KrisMas above, maybe the conditions here are too harsh for the coatings to survive on our rims sweat.gif

Speaking of high temperature, Permanon claims that they can last up to 300 degrees which is higher than burning brake dust.

Like I said, they might still be there even though the beading was already quite flat and very minimal sheeting. I can't think of a way to find out since, after a couple of months, I don't see any difference between the coated rim and those I didn't coat, before, during or after cleaning. Maybe the advantages would show in the long run.....

Anyway, mine are just OEM and my waja is just on cheapo taiwan replicas. I'm just testing them out for the time, maybe in the future, when I can afford to get a good quality ones..... tongue.gif
