already going on? sonax or the megs? or both? (i want both, lazy scrub wheels liao LOL!)

For something as strong as the Wheel Brightener, I don't think it should be used regularly, something like every 6 months is fine. Using it still requires some agitation. After hitting your wheels with WB or Sonax, your weekly or bi-weekly wheel washing should be very easy using normal shampoo plus some APC once in a while.

hmm if you dilute WB enough, it could be used as an APC too id reckon. im planning to use that for really stubborn stains on the car itself XD
*
Erkk! I don't think acid-based cleaners should go anywhere near a painted surface sweat.gif

APC/degreasers would be a better choice if you want it for multiple application biggrin.gif

Meg's WB. We are sharing the gallon down to probably a quart per person.
Actually, the WB is Alkaline based, it's caustic. And, yes, I would suggest APC is a better choice, if you want decently cheap and good, then give the OSREN Multi-Purpose Cleaner a good, very affordable even for the gallon.
*
Did they change the recipe recently? Always known it as acid-based.

"Meguiar's Wheel Brightener is an ideal product for professional detailers seeking a powerful acid-based wheel cleaner that quickly and effectively removes stubborn brake dust deposits."

Anyways, if anybody is doing a group buy for it I would like to have some smile.gif

Optimum Car Wash is loaded up with glossing agent. The ones without that I can think of right now is Dodo Juice Supernatural and Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild.

Just got myself a clay mitt. Supposedly much fast and longer lasting compared to traditional clay. Can't wait to give it a go over the weekend biggrin.gif

The one available here is not like yours....more like this one: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2448036/all

Price? Well....errrr....can get it at around RM80, and I think it's almost twice the size of that one from Chemical Guys....
*
Thanks bro, where can I get the RM80 one? Have you tried the clay mitt/cloth? What do you think about them, compared to normal clay?

You are getting the mitt from the URL, and ask them to ship it over?
*
Not sure if they ship directly to Malaysia or not. For all my US shipping, I get the merchant to send the stuff to my forwarding agent who will combine all my packages and DHL them to me.

Osren (looks like I'm sounding more and more like their reps now tongue.gif ). Yup. I think it's a little bit on the aggressive side and can marr the paint a little (though can easily be removed with a light polish). But you can clay the whole car in as much time as it take to wash it.
*
Thanks for the feedback. Always wanted to pay Osren a visit but haven't manage to do so yet hehe...

thanks to sifu KrisMas i totally found the holy grail of wheel cleaner:

basically sonax wheel cleaner and/or megs WB combo (atm i'm using TW until i can get my hands on megs)

1) just the sonax alone, spray product (i spray a lot, basically almost finished KrisMas febreeze in just 2 front wheels, rear drums anyways)
2) leave on 30sec - 1min +/-
3) water down (slightly high pressure)

VOILA CLEAN NO NEED SCRUBBING LOL

i then proceed to spray some TW wheel cleaner (http://www.turtlewax.com/detail-F21%20Wheel%20Cleaner-44-117.aspx) just to further wash off sonax and whatever else that sonax loosened up (but isn't meant to clean, kinda complicated and it took a while for krismas to explain it to me haha) and yeah, i finally get what everyone meant by sonax wheel cleaner's smell LOL

anyways after i did a second water down for the TW wheel cleaner (obviously did this for the rear wheels as well haha), i did a minor test by poking in my finger to the rotors, did a few rubs on the surface and guess what...

i totally and absolutely no longer need to use the wheel brush anymore! effectively cut down AT LEAST 20-30 minutes on scrubbing all 4 wheels!

now... where can i get more of that product? need a gallon or something keeping stock unsure.gif
oh and what should i do with the wheel brush sweat.gif
*
It's very expensive and you need to have deep pockets to use it every wash! Just do a proper cleaning of your wheels and then seal it up with a sealant or wax. Subsequent washes will only need shampoo and minor agitation.

IMO, no matter how strong or good the wheel cleaner is, some agitation is still required to leave a spotless surface.

Just use enough to make sure you spray it on every single inch of the areas you're cleaning

The retail price I think you already know la...around RM80 for 500ml. I'm afraid you won't be able to get the 5L one over here......yet whistling.gif

Oh....how about trying out one of those spray waxes on the rims. Might not last a week but it is very convenient and doesn't take much time. I used to apply sealants on the wheels (before all these spray waxes came out) but surrender also....just too much hasle and one round of APC wash and it's all gone. And none of the coatings (except for one) that I tested also can last more than a month.....
*
Bro which rim coating that you used lasted more than a month and also what are the ones that lasted around a month? For my next set of rims thinking of bringing them back first for a full prep and then apply some coatings laugh.gif

bring rims home first, slowly prep it nice nice... clay, wax 3-4 layers ROFL
*
Buat penat only if just use wax as it will wear off very quickly sweat.gif

To justify the prep time, need to use those long lasting coatings biggrin.gif

It's the same glass coating that I'm currently using on the rest of my car. The original (1st version) Opti Coat and CQuartz lasted me around a month maybe two, others (not many) are a dissapointment.
Note: I gauge the durability by how water bead/sheet so the coating might (or might not) still be there.

Except for the glass coat (trying it on one of my wheels only), this was quite some times ago (especially the Opti Coat). Now I just clean them and use one of my spray waxes when I'm not that lazy....
*
Wow.. was expecting more from Opti Coat and CQuartz since on the American and British forums it is claimed to last more than a year sweat.gif

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ May 21 2013, 03:51 PM)
hmm i wonder what kinda long lasting coatings available out there that can withstand extremely high temperatures rofl...

i remembered patrick from dodo juice mentioned something for wheels, however it was extremely expensive so i kinda forgotten about it sweat.gif
*
Looking at the feedback from KrisMas above, maybe the conditions here are too harsh for the coatings to survive on our rims sweat.gif

Speaking of high temperature, Permanon claims that they can last up to 300 degrees which is higher than burning brake dust.

http://www.autogeek.net/optimum-opti-glass-coating.html rock chip resistant... hmm.... costs half the price of my windscreen... though if including tint that's another story
*
I would take that claim with a pinch of salt hmm.gif

Also if I'm not mistaken, that single bottle is good for up to 30 applications so if there's multiple cars at your house, the price per windscreen isn't so high. If you're looking for a single-use rain repellent, Rain Away is available in the Garage Sales section and it's pretty good nod.gif

rain isn't my concern since got rain-x, i want it to be rock chip resistant because my car's a rock magnet for some reason sad.gif

Stop tailgating! tongue.gif

I use to do that and have quite a number of rock chips on my hood and lots of tiny marks on my windscreen. After touching up the hood and polishing the windscreen I no longer drive so close to the car in front. Problem solved laugh.gif

Where do you guys get new Optimum product / refills?
*
Order online from US. There isn't any local distributor and only available from grey importers who doesn't get stock on a regular basis. A good alternative would be Duragloss (duragloss.com.my). Their shampoo to me is on par with the Optimum Car Wash. Their spray wax is quite good but not as durable as Optimum. Their no rinse wash is quite decent but at the same dilution their cleaning power is slightly weaker compared to ONR.

LOL... I'm not really a hardcore user of their products. Only bought a few like their shampoo, APC, AIO and glass polish (crappy stuff),

QUOTE(MyWifeCar @ May 28 2013, 12:26 PM)
I thought we have local distributor? They are grey importer meh?
*
My bad, checked the Optimum website and KC is listed as an authorized distributor. Perhaps they haven't gone big with product retailing yet and that could be explain their shortage of detailing supplies for sale. Looking forward for them to carry the full range of Optimum stuff in the future thumbup.gif
