Dear Guys,

I have used a LG Nexus 4 for 1.5 months and absolutely love it.  So I I wanna buy a Nexus 7 32GB Wifi only (I dont know the price but maybe around RM900?).  However, i have read some website articles that say Google I/O in May gonna Launch new Nexus 7.7

Articles say Nexus 7.7 will be:-

1. same price as N7;
2. built by LG;
3. with 7.7 inch screen;
4. conflicting articles say will launch 8GB only or 16GB / 32GB.

Do you think I should wait another 2 months?  I will want 32GB but not 16GB or less.

And I want Wifi only.  why buy with cellular when can thethering from Handphone data plan?

Actually I am not urgently in need of it.  just that my children and wife now monopolise my iPad already.  And also itchy to have a Google Tablet experience.

Maybe u shud wait for Google IO since its only 2 months away, not to mention that you have a tablet to spare your time while waiting

Having a Nexus 7 make me ditch my Android phone (I will only use it as tethering). Somehow I end up wanting to receive everything on my Android phone screen (Text and Calls) on my Nexus 7 screen instead. There's of course an app for that.

That being said, I tend to use Nexus 7 a lot until i treated it like a phone. (But no I don't call people I just like receiving and replying notifications all in one place) but its lacking something. A back camera.

New Nexus 7 I'm positive they will have a back camera as well as front ones. Plus, with better screen size and HDMI enabled ready, and I'm sure Google will surprise us with more stuff (Android 5.0 maybe?).

But, the waiting is not only until May. The stock will most likely release somewhere early June, then reach malaysia somewhere early August (just like Nexus 7). If you can wait then it is fine. But the price for 32GB = definitely won't be at RM900. RM900 should be 8GB or if we are lucky 16GB (doubtful if they added more cool hardwares)

If you buy now no you won't have any regret. Nexus 7 is great plus all its libraries are live online. Don't worry about future updates (i would say).

My gf owns a Nexus 4 and I owns a Nexus 7. To be honest, I find both to be very very similar, just the lack of a back camera on the Nexus 7. Both offers smooth stock rom, snappy quad core processors.
In fact, Nexus 4's snapdragon processor outscores Nexus 7's tegra 3 processor. brows.gif

For Nexus 7, I would say it can support up to 1 more major update (5.0)
For Nexus 7.7, I am quite sure it will be at 5.0 at launch, supporting 1 more major update (6.0). (more future-proof) icon_idea.gif

If your not in a hurry, I advise u to wait for Nexus 7.7. The experience with Nexus 4 and 7 is very similar. Just that the fact that Nexus 7 has a bigger screen and more syok in watching videos and surfing the net.

I mean, if u get Nexus 7 now, you will get similar experience with your Nexus 4. The only upside is that the screen size brings more pleasure in watching videos and surfing the net. And gaming more syok.

If you can control the itch in ur hand, wait for Nexus 7.7! It will definitely be worth the wait. rclxms.gif

My fiancee got the JB 4.2.2 update OTA last month. Coincidentally, she was using the Nexus 7c at the Nexus Karambunai resort when the update came in. LOL! Till today, no problems, everything running as it should.

Thank you for your sound opinion. The lack of back cam in N7 doesnt bother me much cause i dont take pictures much. However, with better specs + Key Lime Pie, I think I will wait for nexus 7.7 (albeit as someone else in forum said the N7.7 will be more expensive compared to N7). just gotta fight the urge!!!

By the way anyone know the price of N7 32 GB Wifi only? where to buy is best? a friend suggested ALLIT in Lowyat.

Thanks

The only possible disadvantage to wait for the N7.7 are the following :

1. Screen size being 7.7 will consume more power...if the battery capacity remains, expect usage time to decrease.

2. Not sure about the resolution for the 7.7", if its a different resolution, then application compatibility also gonna have issue. Physical size of the device also requires consideration...N7 can fit nicely on single hand/palm by grabbing d corners. Not sure if 7.7 I can still do that. I also attach the device on my car dash...7" feels just nice...I know my car's spot won't fit a 7.7" coz my current N7 already fits snugly.

3. Newer android OS means another round of headache with app compatibility...now many apps are just getting updated to run on 4.2.2....later 5.0 released, another round of it...means some apps you won't be able to use till the app maker come up with an update. One example is Papago M9 supports till 4.1 only. And they have no plans to make it run on 4.2 and above....for 4.2 and above, you have to buy Papago M11

Just my 2 cents.

called newegg malaysia, they said no stock. gotta wait 3-4 weeks. anyway, I dont' like to shop online cause i like to ask questions about product, have the sales ppl put in screen protector for me, slowly choose a case that I like etc.

While I won't rush out to buy the N7 just yet. The next time I am in Lowyat I will just check it out and see whether I can still fight the urge. Judging from another forumner's opinion that N7.7 may only be available in Malaysian Stores in Aug/Sep (another 6 months)t and also uncertainty about GB and price....then that makes me rather impatient.. blush.gif

Hey everyone! Just a few help needed here. I realized there's a crack on my Nexus 7 screen this morning. I guess it was from the weight pressure i had on it with all my books without realizing sad.gif Now half of my screen isn't functioning but the other half still is. Where do I go to if I wanna replace the screen or something?

enter fastboot manually. Maybe because you did not enable USB Debugging. Either do that and restart the program or enter fastboot manually by pressing power button + volume down when the device is turn off.
