Some buttons were not working for me earlier, but after a reboot now the reply button works again. Options button still not working, dunno why.

Nexus 7C has arrived! No screen lift, no dead pixels, no speaker problem. Says "Made In China Date 2012 12" on the box label.

3G and wifi working well. I can report that in an area where my SE Xperia Pro gets 1 to zero "bars" of wifi strength, and my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0+ gets 1 bar, the Nexus 7C has 2 bars. I'm impressed!

Thank you to the poster (sorry I forgot the name) who suggested gmh81 of Lelong for Nexus 7 screen protector. He is a very responsive seller, I just ordered 2 at a very reasonable price. Me happy!

RM880 for wifi 32Gb, RM900 for Nexus 7C...prices from various advertisements in mudah.my. One seller even says in his ad that he can up the RAM to 2Gb for extra charge. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing before? The ad's URL is

That would be my guess too...but logically speaking, wouldn't that instantly void any warranty? Hmm..unless maybe the RAM module has another gig on it that was locked, and can be unlocked?

Anyways this is intriguing. I'm stuck in the arse-end of m'sia due to work commitments right now, but once I can get back to KL, I may visit that shop and see what's what.

Bro, sorry I missed your question earlier.

Because I had read of the many problems that earlier Nexus units had (screen lift, dead pixels, 3G probs etc), and because I intended this purchase as a gift for my fiancee, it had to be perfect.

I bought it from an electrical shop near me and paid RM1099. I have been buying household appliances, handycams, digicams etc etc from them since 1989 and they always give excellent service. They ordered the unit in for me direct from Asus Malaysia, and when it arrived, i unsealed the box and thoroughly checked the 7C. Zero defects, and I paid them.

Allow me to give my 2 sen worth: on small cheaper items, it is not too risky to buy online. On bigger priced items, I prefer to check and buy the item physically off-line, unless the seller is familiar to me, or is a large well-known corporation with a good reputation for treating the customer decently (cough*newegglazada*cough).

I love the 7C, but do not need 3G....so my next purchase will probably be a 32Gb wifi model. However, I'm kinda waiting to see what is presented in Mobile World Congress this month...I may go for a bigger tablet instead. See how lah!

Free casing and sp??? I looked up Senheng's Feb promo...it only says PWP RM189 for a Mocran POSH casing and sp. PWP means Purchase With Purchase, so your total cost will be RM1099+RM189 for a 7C with casing and sp.

I'm very aware of that. There will be OTHER manufacturers presenting their devices at MWC, so I'll compare their offerings with the Nexus series, then decide.

Possible tough competition for the Nexus 7 from Note 8" IF (and it's a very big IF) the USD299 price is true:

Asus's 7" Fonepad offering with telephony doesn't seem so enticing, spec-wise.. There's also a few more upcoming tablets aimed squarely at taking away some market share from the Nexus. Roll on MWC!

I advise you to thoroughly read and understand the fine print of the extended warranty first, then decide if it's good value or not.

My fiancee got the JB 4.2.2 update OTA last month. Coincidentally, she was using the Nexus 7c at the Nexus Karambunai resort when the update came in. LOL! Till today, no problems, everything running as it should.

Higher rez, better processors in the new Nexus 7. Something to look forward to! Now if it comes with telecommunications capabilities, there's gonna be a lot of phablet makers getting worried.
