Guys, not sure if you have the same problem. My 7c seems to have problem detecting the sim card. Every time it say no SIM. But then ask me to restart coz sim detected. Is it that the sim tray is loose or something? Any way to fix this problem?

I'm using Nexus 7c with Hotlink SKMM simpack, only RM25 for 1GB (Very cheap woo). The only drawback is everytime I get disconnected from the internet I need to click on the continue link. The good thing about this is at least my bandwitdh quota doesn't get hijacked by some apps running on the background. Another good thing about Maxis Hotlink the top up is done online, no need to use SMS to top up (Stock Nexus 7c can't install any SMS apps based on my experience).

Long time wait for people to bring up this. I'm not sure we can use SKMM pack for N7. I dont want to spend RM68 every month just to get internet, so i'm also thinking to use SKMM pack. how is the performce of 3G bro? and have u experience slow connection after 1GB quota finish?

IMO RM25 for 1GB is quite expensive as well. I am now using Maxis Postpaid BB for my N7c. It's only RM58 per month for 4+4GB. It's RM68 per month but you get RM10 rebate for 12 months and its not under contract coz I didnt take the wifi capable USB modem.

I am trying out U Mobile's UMI18 which is prepaid. RM18 a month for 250Mb of Data after which it'll be throttled. Usage is unlimited tough. And it comes with free 25 mins talk time and 25 free sms, both to any mobile telco.

It's the cheapest if you're just using data occasionally.

And if you enable "Data Roaming" in your tablet device. U Mobile will roam from Maxis whenever U mobile does not have data coverage there.

RM58 for 4GB is cheap. But then, most of the time i will use wifi, home, office. I will only use 3G when i'm going out and of course for emergency case. I'm not sure if 1GB of data is enough for me, i think i will need more than that, but when quota is finish, i guess i can always use the 3G but with throttle speed. BTW, thanks for your advice bro. Your 7C what thing you modded brows.gif ? i also on stock rom + m-kernel.

Not just that. You can always apply for booster whenever you hit a quota (need to pay RM10 and will lat for 3 days for 1GB).

Tried franco and motley kernel before, got some minor problem. Then decide to go with m-kernel, so far so good, the best i had tried. you could tell by the feedback and how fast that thread is growing in xda. today new build is out, downloading.

Why waste rm3 for things your not using. Im currently using umobile prepaid with mb15. 500mb for 15 days. Can surf more smile.gif

And we can use sms with gosms for unrooted n7c.tried with hotlink and umobile prepaid without any problem. thumbup.gif

I'm also using M-Kernel, performance is not bad, but battery is just like Stock kernel, I wonder how people in XDA achieve over 7 hours of On Screen time. shocking.gif

Underclock maybe. Have u tried to underclock? I dont want to sacrifice performance just to get a 1/2+hours of extra battery life.

You can try backing all up using Carbon for app data

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...ta.backup&hl=en

and Titanium Backup for your apps
*
No need. after factory reset, have to key in google account. then Google will download all the erased apps.

But have to manual settings again only no prob.

What were the minor problems you faced? I'm using Franco-r48, having problems with battery info. Altho i'm clearly using the tablet with screen and wifi on, it doesnt register properly at the battery monitor only intermittenly. Half of the time the table is awake, screen and wifi on but it appears like this... doesnt affect battery time /performance tho.

Underclock will help but will reduce performance to some extent, undervolt white retaining stock clock speed helps most. Best to -100mV as a start, then slowly tweak at -5mV increments per try. When it's all stable for a day at least, then you can turn on 'set on boot'.

Then try to disable all unused stock apps or those google services and auto-sync for sosial networking software or games. Should give you at least half to 1 hour of extra time... I can usually get 8+ hours of battery with my config, screen at it's lowest brightness. I also find that using Dolphin browser is much more smoother and less battery consuming than using the latest or stock Chrome if you browse alot.

Disable stuff like NFC, turn on wifi-optimize, turn off network notification(auto scan), unnecessary widgets(clock), use a black wallpaper, turn off touch and keyboard sounds, useless 'gesture typing' etc etc and should be able to get at least 7hr screen on time imo. notworthy.gif

Yeah, its happened quite some time actually, 3 days after I purchased. All this while just using external speaker.

When the time its happened, I'm not put the volume the max actually.
