Hi ASus recently bought USB-N13 B1 (Broadcom) - RM79 but i have some problem here i get 0.7mbps instead of 10mbps from maxis fibre router its not too far from the router within 10meter but with few walls but the other dell laptop and iphone 5s can get around 7~8mbps at the same location area The USB-N13 B1 get around 0.7mbps with ping within 9~12ms what is the problem with it? using WPA2 + AES security. i used to reach 5 mbps previously but then it started to keep dc then the speed reduce significantly
or anyone know what is the problem?

Hi there, I just updated my Asus RT N53 router to the latest firmware as stated in the front page. However when trying to set up the router with unifi, the setup says i have the wrong username and password. The username and password are still the same as I had before updating. Edit: I restored the router to factory settings and ended up with the same firmware. After inputting the username and password, the page stopped responding. I skipped the internet set up and went directly to the wifi setup and suddenly everything was working. Anyways, another question, why is it that i cannot detect the 5Ghz SSID even when i set it to not hide it? Been like this ever since I purchased the router. Any help? Thank you. Hi coOLR3xz, Can I know what software or web speedtest that you use to do the testing? If you are using speedtest.net, please make sure their test server are the same. And try update the utilities of the USB-N13 B1 to the latest. http://www.asus.com/my/Networking/USBN13_B1/#support, Thank you

Hi widesky867, You can try put different SSID name for the 5GHz and do you have other device that can support 5GHz band? Such as smartphone or any wireless device that can support wireless standard "a". Thank you

Asus support,
Can u assist me in choosing the right device based on my problems . Im using the old dlink 615 which is single band and its 2.4ghz band. I wish to improve my wifi streaming between my macbook media player apps call plex together with its client server apps in my ipad2. The buffer of movie is obvious here.
I saw your main page advertising which is the repeater and it says it may boost wifi signal and provided dual band as well for existing single band router. May i ask if this Asus repeater works with other brand like dlink as well without the needs to change to asus router?
What is the economical solution if my purpose is just streaming movies in hd only. Any recommendation for router or the repeater itself is the best way to go? Do you have the closest dealer near to putraheights? Tq

But for your problem, it is best for you to use dualband router also for best result unless you are planing to connect to the repeater only for both your macbook and ipad2. You can visit Digital Mall(best choice) or Sunway Pyramid to buy the repeater. Thank you

What i like about this, is your lowyat online support here. this prompt me to get your brand soon. Im gonna get a router since the keyword is "best result ". I rather forego dlink for the sake of getting old problems to mess with my head again. In your case, what model in your range that is below RM 250 for dual band router , minus the design outlook which im not in favourable with but providing me a good streaming experience handshaking bewtween my macbook and ipad2 worked as a media player . i lived in double storey house. my modem currently is upstairs. my tv is downstairs and i need to stream downstairs for entertainment. Your advise is appreciated. thanks. This post has been edited by hackwire: Dec 16 2013, 05:16 PM

RT-AC68U (Broadcom) - RM829 RT-AC66U (Broadcom) - RM719 RT-AC56U (Broadcom) - RM639 RT-N66U (Broadcom) - RM619 RT-N65U (Ralink) - RM509 RT-N56U (Ralink) - RM409 Because I not sure how big is your double storey and the distance between your modem and the TV, 5GHz has shorter wifi coverage compare to 2.4GHz. Thank you

Hi Asusmy, The wireless router provided by Maxis (Huawei brand - but the wifi name is ThomsonXXXXX) is really bad as it doesn't cover the upstairs & front of the house which is where my room is. The router is located at the downstairs & back of the house, and the distance between back and front is about 30-feet (approximately). I just recently bought a repeater from Aztech and it's a complete waste of money as it did not provide any sort of additional coverage at all. I'm OK with using wifi repeaters as long as I can watch Youtube videos and surf net . My questions are: 1) Can Asus support Maxis FTTH/replace the router provided by them? 2) How good is the wireless coverage of the Asus router as I've not been able to get any information on this. 3) Do I need to pair a repeater with the wireless router or is the router good enough? Thanks! I've had enough of surviving on 3G in my room. This post has been edited by cherriedpie: Dec 17 2013, 12:17 AM

The current firmware is 3.0.0.4.374.813. http://www.asus.com/my/Networking/RTN12_D1/#supportThank you Thank you for your reply. I managed to connect to my media player via wifi. Also I switched the desktop cable from port 1 to 2 and 3. I get the blue blinking lights for no 2 and 3 for both cases. I did not get any blinking lights for port 4 with the HyppTV set top box. I suspect the network port of the HyppTV thing is dead. I will try to upgrade firmware to latest and see if this will rectify. Otherwise linggit 450 fly lorr. p/s - I love the feature where I can access the router setup page from my ipad. Didn't know if this was possible for the old Dlink.
