Not sure if this is a sign of my RT-N12 gonna die but only recently when I start to download around 5 torrents or more at the same time, the router shoots up to 100% CPU and hangs, never had this issue before. hmm.gif

3 years old now.

Further observations, it's not really about how many torrents I'm downloading at the same time but the speed. Even if I download 10 torrent files together but if I limit overall global speed to 20mbps, everything still works fine. The router somehow "hangs" when the speed is near 30mbps. What I noticed is at 30mbps, the router's CPU load is at 100% causing the router to seem like it "hangs" until I reduce the speed which will lower the CPU load.

ASUSmy Is the router dying or unable to handle load?

True but I just need some clarification if this is a hardware limitation of the RT-N12 or not. Torrenting at 30mbps causes router CPU load to be at 100% and therefore unable to do anything else. sweat.gif

router load depends on how many sessions/connections during torrenting, and most likely the router's CPU/NPU and it's limited ram is overloaded. try investing in a higher end model such as RTN66U.

my rtn12hp-b1, i never did any qos or whatever.

with good seeds, torrents do get to 3.5MBps if nothing else is on.

if something else is being used, torrent will go down accordingly.

everything still works good.

kinda smart but i never questioned why, never had to deal with it.

1.5 yr old unit.

hope it lasts!

But weird thing is I can torrent just 2-3 files at the same time at 30mbps and CPU load is at 100% making it seem like it "hang" and can't browse the net and all.

When I torrent about 10 files at the same time but limit overall download speed at the torrent client to 20mbps, CPU load is around 90% and everything else works fine.

Also, the RT-N12 D1 is stated to have 'Powerful Online Multitasking at up to 30,000 Data Sessions'. My torrent client is set to only have 250 max connections. It seems like the issue isn't with the number of sessions/connections. hmm.gif

are you using latest firmware? perhaps try reset to factory default?

else can try DDWRT or Tomato to see if issue persists.

I'll try to reset it later. I've tried DD-WRT and Tomato before but it seems like wasn't really stable with random reboots, don't think so there's a 100% stable custom firmware for the RT-N12 revision D1.

Ya, the unifi guy checked, cannot solve. First suspect I m using cat6 cable, not compatible with hypp system. Then connect using cat5 cable also showing 00:00.
He is so helpful, getting a brand new tv top to try, but still the same. cry.gif

Hi good day ASUSmy and all,

I plan to upgrade the stock router to Asus HP series (the one that have long antenna) and hopefully, with wireless AC capability, my budget around RM500±, which model do you recommend?

Can I setup Asus router to watch HyppTV wirelessly?

Thank you in advance! notworthy.gif

This model looks promising. Although I don't use USB connectivity (unless I know how to setup a printer on it), but it is a bonus.
By the way, do you have any info where to get it at this price?
You can PM me if you like. nod.gif

Both have the same hardware inside it, the only difference is the wireless power, the RT-N12HP comes with high gain antennas (but they are pretty long) for better wireless coverage.
