ASUSmy I was browsing for Asus routers in Harvey Norman just now, looking to get the budget-friendly RT-N12 C1/D1 but they only had RT-N12U which was selling for RM179. What's extra in the RT-N12U?

Hi OKLY,

I don't think we have RT-N12U, It is DSL-N12U that you saw at Harvey Norman? The "U" mean there is an USB port at the device.

Thank you
*
Nope, very sure it's RT-N12U. I was looking for RT-N12 and when I saw the model RT-N12, I looked at the price and was shocked at the price tag RM179. Double check only to find out it's RT-N12U. Unless they didn't source this model from local distributors. hmm.gif

Hi, is it possible to setup ipv6 for unifi with rt-n56u on latest asus firmware?
*
Can, most of Asus routers now fully support UniFi to allow hassle free setup.

ASUSmy Let's say if I don't want to go back to Harvey Norman for any warranty claims and I want to go direct to the distributor, which one should I go to since you put up two distributors' information?

Hi AsusMy, any advise on this?

Btw, thanks OKLY. smile.gif

I'm using the same settings as per the image you've shown and I'm getting IPv6, could it be that IPv6 is not enabled at your area yet?

Hi, just want to ask if i buy Asus RT-N14U to replace the router provided by Unifi, will it affect my speed? ( More faster? )
*
Generally speaking speed shouldn't be affected but Asus routers will most likely offer better stability when under load and the QoS feature seems to be better than the stock UniFi router.

I'm using a RMVB player that connected via LAN cable, it is able to watch something like PPTV. But it loads in a low speed sometimes, so I'm not sure whether is the router problem.

Note: Using Unifi VIP 5.
*
If restarting your router does not help then very unlikely it's your router. Slow speeds when streaming is usually caused by the connection instead.

ASUSmy

I've updated my RT-N12 revision D1 to the latest firmware 3.0.0.4.374_4561 and it seems that IPv6 is broken now. My devices are no longer able to obtain any IPv6 address while it was fine with the previous firmware. I've also tried resetting but still the same.

What I noticed in this new firmware is also the interface has changed a little, now IPv6 for LAN has a new option to choose between stateless and stateful for auto configuration. Tried both but does not help.

Hi OKLY,

Is the current firmware that you are using is version 3.0.0.4.374.4561?

And your UNIFI is came with dynamic or static WAN IP?

Thank you
*
Yes using this latest firmware. The previous firmware had no issues with IPv6. My UniFi comes with a dynamic WAN IP.

Hi OKLY,

May I know what previous firmware version that you use that is working with the IPv6? Because I have tested the UNIFI dynamic IP is not fully working yet especially the LAN IPv6.

And it is working fine with the UNIFI static IP.

Thank you
*
Previously using 3.0.0.4.374.813 and no issues with obtaining IPv6 address.

RT-N12 and RT-N12HP can share the same firmware? I'll give it a try when I get back home.

Hi OKLY,

May I ask, it is ok that you allow our RD to log in to your router to do the checking? If yes, do PM me your DDNS name and Enable Web Access from WAN at the Administration->System. And the user name and password of your router.

Thank you
*
Done, have enabled access. Kindly check your PM.

hey guys

im using ASUS RT-N66U in my 2 story bungalow house.

router is located at the middle of 2nd floor.

but some places of the house have very poor signal strength

anyone can recommend me some solutions to the poor signal strength issues?
*
I'm hoping for Asus to release a firmware update that allows users to control the tx power to improve coverage. Despite having bigger antennas, the tx power is too weak and coverage is not that good even for a 2-storey house.

QUOTE(QQHTJ @ Jul 8 2014, 06:38 PM)
May i know is it we need to use AC feature, my wireless adapter must in AC support as well?
What if my laptop have no AC support, so the speed will like normal?
*
It's backward compatible, if you don't have a WiFi card that supports AC, then it'll just fall back to Wireless-N.

ASUSmy

Is it possible to feedback to your RD team to include an option setting for IPv6 MTU, I believe the current IPv6 MTU defaults to 1492 which is kinda high, it can be fixed by manually entering commands via Telnet but that's too troublesome to do it each time the router reboots/restarts.

Not sure if other Asus routers has it but my RT-N12 D1 does not. Using the latest 3.0.0.4.376.3602 firmware.
