Just got my repaired ASUS RT-N16 from Alpha Wolf last Saturday.
Sent the router to Alpha Wolf on Friday 7th August & got it back on Saturday 8th August.

He repaired it in only 1 day.
My RT-N16 has been working fine since then.

Previous issue was caused by dead/bulging capacitors.

So if any of you got a dead/faulty ASUS routers where it's no longer under warranty, consider sending it to:

PS: Nevermind the closed topic, just Whatsapp him & he'll respond to you right away. thumbup.gif

so he's still in business? my rtn66u is having wifi problem.

not sure, like shawty says you can whatsapp him. I fixed the caps myself as I have a bit of electronic background. RTN66U is a very good router and does not suffer from caps issue.

what kind of wifi issues are you having? i suggest that you flash the firmware with merlin's fork and reset to factory default settings, and test the router again after that. I own several units of RTN66U as well due to its excellent coverage and stability icon_rolleyes.gif

True but I just need some clarification if this is a hardware limitation of the RT-N12 or not. Torrenting at 30mbps causes router CPU load to be at 100% and therefore unable to do anything else. sweat.gif

router load depends on how many sessions/connections during torrenting, and most likely the router's CPU/NPU and it's limited ram is overloaded. try investing in a higher end model such as RTN66U.

But weird thing is I can torrent just 2-3 files at the same time at 30mbps and CPU load is at 100% making it seem like it "hang" and can't browse the net and all.

When I torrent about 10 files at the same time but limit overall download speed at the torrent client to 20mbps, CPU load is around 90% and everything else works fine.

Also, the RT-N12 D1 is stated to have 'Powerful Online Multitasking at up to 30,000 Data Sessions'. My torrent client is set to only have 250 max connections. It seems like the issue isn't with the number of sessions/connections. hmm.gif

are you using latest firmware? perhaps try reset to factory default?

else can try DDWRT or Tomato to see if issue persists.

Hi, I have been using the asus ddns for 2years already but recently, I can't seems to connect to it. There was no change in any of the configurations in both systems.

Is the *.asuscomm.com down? I have checked a few website and is reporting that the domain is down.

Can anyone confirm this? Thanks

are you on streamyx? they are gradually privatizing their IPs on streamyx, some of my office lines also affected by this. DDNS only works on Public IP.

easiest way to check is to go to this website and get your IP address: https://www.whatismyip.com

then check it against the IP visible in your router's main page to see if they match. If matching, Public IP. If different, private IP.

One last thing is does this AC86U support AES-NI? Expressvpn mention no support so might reduce speed but google said support

Edit:Finally make my decision after the survey and follow you guys recommend and choose RT AC86U. Hope it works fine with my devices and VPN (especially main purpose). Time retired my dlink dir867.

Anyhow I'm just normal users vpn movies only. Do I need flash to Merlin firmware?

It comes with a BCM4906, which has hardware-accelerated AES support in the CPU
