I recently bought a N14UHP to replace my Thompson router on Maxis Broadband.

It is working great but i have added an external My Book 1 TB WD USB HDD, but the router cannot detect the drive.

I have tried using ExFat and NTFS to no avail. The top right icon for USB Drive does not light up.

Appreciate your help.

Can you try using normal USB pendrive to have a test, to see whether it able to detect or not?

And can you also try updating the firmware to the latest?

Sorry for the late reply, may I ask is the previous router you using also is ASUS router?

And do you mind using another device, smart phone also can, to go to the WAN and click on the MAC Clone button and Apply?

I have Asus RT-AC68U, and attached 1 TB notebook hard disk to USB 3.0 port. But it will auto disconnect the Harddisk after a while.

I have updated to the above firmware.

I plugged in my 1TB My Book WD but it cannot detect, it is on FAT32.

I plugged in my thumdrive - router detect immediately, it is also on FAT32.

yes i can receive 5ghz.. when I check the connection status using command prompt : "netsh wlan show interfaces". it's showing as 802.11n. is this a limitation of windows 10 unable to show ac status?

Currently using RT-N16 and recently just upgraded my unifi to advance plan 30mbps. I run speedtest on wifi unfortunately download rate can reach at 20mbps only while on LAN test I can reach up to 30mbps. May I know why this would happen? Do I need to touch certain setting on wifi config? Thank you.

Is there any update from your RD pertaining to the horrible NAS performance on RT-AC1200HP?

Any firmware update or configuration optimization can address this issue?

If there is no any resolution, will Asus admit that its router's NAS capability simply can't perform?

I encountered the similar issues before on my WD 2 TB & WD 3 TB external HDD.

Simple solution: Keep the minimal folder(s) and file(s) at root directory level. You can expand the folder structure at sub directory level.

bro what do umean by folders and files at root level? because i just wipe and reformat clean on FAT32, there isnt any files inside?

Has you tried to update the firmware to the latest and can you test it with another USB port on the router? See it will have the same problem or not.

Updated to latest version. Problem still persist.

If that's clean HDD, you may try with other cable or other formatting option.

When it hook up stable, then 1 week also no disconnect. if after restart, no activity on hdd, then will disconnect after a while (mayb few hours).
