Hi Asus,

I recently bought a N14UHP to replace my Thompson router on Maxis Broadband.

It is working great but i have added an external My Book 1 TB WD USB HDD, but the router cannot detect the drive.

I have tried using ExFat and NTFS to no avail. The top right icon for USB Drive does not light up.

Appreciate your help.

Hi netken,

Can you try using normal USB pendrive to have a test, to see whether it able to detect or not?

And can you also try updating the firmware to the latest?

Thank you

I have updated to the above firmware.

I plugged in my 1TB My Book WD but it cannot detect, it is on FAT32.

I plugged in my thumdrive - router detect immediately, it is also on FAT32.

how to solve it? thanks.

I encountered the similar issues before on my WD 2 TB & WD 3 TB external HDD.

Simple solution: Keep the minimal folder(s) and file(s) at root directory level. You can expand the folder structure at sub directory level.

bro what do umean by folders and files at root level? because i just wipe and reformat clean on FAT32, there isnt any files inside?

If that's clean HDD, you may try with other cable or other formatting option.

guys amazingly it worked by trying another usb cable.

i tried to swap usb cable with another external drive.

only thing i can see it is much shorter like 10cm type, the other longer ones did not work.

now i am trying to register asus ddns e.g. netken.asuscomm.com but still not working ... any advise pls?

i get the invalid ip address no matter what name i use under ddns tab and front page i get yellow exclamation on ddns - invalid ip

hi asus,

i am using AC66 router with Lan2 (Huawei BTU) into Asus WAN.

and Asus LAN 3 to Thompson 784n WAN .. for VOIP, it has been working great for VOIP but until last week, it doesn't work any more ...

if i swap and go direct with the thompson to the BTU, the VOIP works fine again.

any ideas?

Hi netken,

Can you try to check the LAN 3 whether it is still usable? Reset the ASUS router and plug a LAN cable to LAN 3 and try logging in the router.

Thank you

I suspect something wrong with LAN 3 port - i reversed the setup now using LAN 3 port to the Thompson LAN as the main router and it works fine for the time being.

Before: BTU - Asus AC66 (Router and WIFI) - Thompson TG784 (VOIP)

< after last week fibernation upgrade - VOIP on Thompson did not work>

Now: BTU - Thompson TG784 (Router and VOIP) - Asus AC66 (WIFI in AP Mode)

Seems to be stable and able to take in the 100 DL and 20 UL - so far less stress on thompson as only router and voip (no wifi) and asus only Wifi and Lan (no router mode)

Question is - when this Sat Maxis comes with a TP Link modem shall i maintain the same setup?
