Hi yoonlim,

Do you mind clarify the you mean by below text from your last post? So that we can lat HQ know the problem you faced.

"And latest version firmware is very unstable."

And for the IPv6 problem, our RD are in the midst of fixing it.

Thank you

1. When I restart the router, sometime usb light will be flashing non-stop, I have plugged in my usb drive. When it is flashing, the router web (192.168.1.1) is very slow to load.

2. When I restart the router, sometime I get broken web UI (192.168.1.1), Some links are missing. The page is not loaded completely.

3. Internet tab is missing under Traffic monitor. Using Google Chrome when i clicked on WIRELESS (2.4 GHz) or WIRELESS (5 GHz) tab, it will jump to WIRED Tab.

I have restarted the router for many times during the latest version to test out IPv6 issue.

Thanks

Is it possible to feedback to your RD team to include an option setting for IPv6 MTU, I believe the current IPv6 MTU defaults to 1492 which is kinda high, it can be fixed by manually entering commands via Telnet but that's too troublesome to do it each time the router reboots/restarts.

Not sure if other Asus routers has it but my RT-N12 D1 does not. Using the latest 3.0.0.4.376.3602 firmware.

I want to ask if its better to use 14UHP as base with another 14UHP/12HP as wifi repeater or 14UHP with wifi extender such as RPN53?

I have absolutely no problems with IPv6 support in my RT-N12 D1, but my firmware 3.0.0.4.374.5517 is one version before the latest.

My MTU by default is 1492.

The MTU can be set in the 'Account Setting' section under the 'WAN' tab.

What exactly is your problem with IPv6 MTU defaulting to 1492?

It's discussed over here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2978208

Many of us are using MTU of 1420 and below. Some devices don't play along well if the MTU is too high for IPv6.

I agree the default works but it does have problems for some devices, so if we can change the MTU for IPv4, why not allow user to change the MTU for IPv6 as well?

Sorry, but I still don't understand the problem.

What are those problematic devices you are referring to, and what exactly are those problems? blink.gif

Here are my IPv6 test results.

Hi andrekua2,

RT-N14UHP will have better range compare to RP-N53. RP-N53 is a dual-band repeater, if you use RT-N14UHP as base, you won't be able to utilize 5GHz band.

RP-N53 easy to keep if compare with RT-N14UHP.

Thank you

hi asus malaysia, i just bought a rt-n14uhp recently and want to ask about its QoS setting. i'm using the default automatic QoS mode which prioritizes online gaming & web surf. however, does streaming on youtube is included as part of web surfing as well? how do i tweak the setting so that the priority of the apps goes like this: dota2>web surfing>youtube>others

Consider using AsusWRT-Merlin.
Both my RT-N16 & RT-AC68U gets IPV6 address instantly.

Is anybody else having DNS issues using the latest 3.0.0.4_376_2678 firmware (I'm running an RT-N16)? I downgraded back to 374_5517 because of it. My router would simply stop responding to DNS queries after 2 days or so (when Maxis decides to cut the connection and the router has to reconnect); this is not a problem with earlier versions of the firmware. It's annoying because while my PCs can be configured with redundant nameservers, my other equipment cannot.

Maybe I should switch to Merlin instead; any issues with it that anybody can report?

Using Merlin 376.48_3 on my RT-N16.
Working fine over here. Though I am on UniFi.

Consider restoring the router to factory default before flashing Merlin.
Also, don't restore the saved configuration from ASUS stock firmware, it may not work on Merlin.

It'll be better if you set everything up from scratch. smile.gif

AsusMY,

Let me help you update on RT-N12HP firmware update issue that I raised not too long ago. Asus has finally fired the incompetent webmaster and fix the whole problem of mistaken identity.

On another note, Lazada offering 10% off Asus router today with LAZ10 code. Bought another 2 N14UHP to help my parents cover their double storey house. Tried with mine and it has some problem covering the whole bottom floor with the router on 1st floor. Both floor were separated which make it tad much harder. RM232 after discount not too bad, even though my first one only cost RM219 after RM30 rebate.

Not sure.
But this is what's written in Merlin's FAQ:
QUOTE
Q: Will flashing this void my warranty?
A: This is a kinda grey area for which I have no definitive answer unfortunately. I have seen Asus publicly commit to supporting DD-WRT for some of their models, without any mention about it voiding your warranty. Therefore my personal opinion would be that "No, it won't void your warranty", but as the saying goes, IANAL. Your retailer might certainly have a different view on this than Asus would, too.
