Have to praise Asus for making exceptional quality routers!
And it's cheap!
Here's a few screenshots of it! Uptime more than 11 days, 13 clients at the same time not crashing like the ASS DIR-615

Hi, recently purchased and hooked up a RT-AC56U router. Signal strength is way stronger than the lovely DLINK provided by UNIFI. However, been facing connection drops with my portable devices eg. iPhone, iPad

The PC on the other hand, operates just fine. Would need to constantly reconnect the Wi-fi (every 2 minutes!) for the portables, have tried running Google searches and testing 'fixes' such as changing the Channel etc. but still facing the same problem. Any advise please? Thanks.

Hi blu3chip,

May I ask, have you try update your firmware to the latest already? And which WiFi band that you connected to and facing this problem? 2.4GHz or 5GHz.

And is your PC is Mac also or it is running in window OS?

Hi,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Will try updating my firmware later tonight. As for the Wi-fi band, am facing problems with 2.4ghz via handheld devices as mentioned.

My iMac on the other hand, has zero issues whatsoever. Same connection, different outcome. Can confirm that it only affects handhelds through testing (iPhone, iPad, Galaxy S4 etc.)

Try disabling NAT acceleration if its turned on. Solved a TON of issues on my end. We don't need that with the "pathetic" unifi speed we have compared to what others have (200mbps++)

Hi doket,

Can you try update the firmware to the latest which is 3.0.0.4.374.4422. And have you tried to check with the TM to see whether they have any problem with the line. Try change another splitter if you used one.

30 seconds setup is pretty much a lie to me.
Firstly, you need to select Router among the three modes when setting up. After that, select PPPoE and tick special requirements from IP and select Unifi-Home. Type in your Username and password next. Its pretty straight forward next. After the setup complete, tweak it slightly and plug everything in. HyppTV will out of the box.
WiFi performance according to your devices
Galaxy S3 running Android Revolution v50: One bar but the speed is very stable. You will be able to use your 5Mbps.
iPod Touch 5G(closest hardware i can get that has same WiFi chipset to your iPhone 5): 2 to 3 bars full so yeah. full speed!
Lenovo Y410P: 3 to 5 bars. Need more clarification from my friend.

Hi ASUSmy

I have just purchased my RT-N12HP today. Already done set up and am using it to post this now.

However, one issue with the router settings page, why is it (sometimes) forever/infinite loading? It never loads, I have to press ENTER on the address bar to "send"/initiate the session/browsing again so that it loads.

Already on your latest firmware by the way RT-N12HP_3.0.0.4_374_4561-g5f5c8d8 which I downloaded from your website.

Kindly advise, thanks.

Jeff.

yes, checked with TM. they said there is no problem with line in my area.

i updated to latest firmware(3.0.0.4.374.4422) still the same. ADSL still no light but i have internet connection. do this mean that maybe the ADSL light ic is burned? another thing when i download the latest firmware, there is a notice:
ASUS DSL-N55U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374_4422 (Annex A)
Notice: After upgrading to 3.0.0.4.374_4422 please press the hardware reset button of DSL-N55U over 8 seconds to reset the modem router.

do i need to do hardware reset like the notice mention after i update? i affraid i lost all my old setting after reset.

thanks for reply...

edit: strange, after typing this and over 20 minutes the ADSL light is back on again. i hope it wont happen again...

Router/AP/Repeater are the three modes

Yes boss, of course you need cables to setup

Basically how you connect it after setting it up.

UNIFI FTTH/VDSL2+ MODEM>RT-N12HP's WAN PORT=INTERNET
RT-N12HP's LAN 1/2/3>Your Clients (Laptop, PC, Astro Decoder, Smart TV, BluRAY player, Consoles and many more)
RT-N12HP's LAN 4>HYPP TV
