I have just purchased my RT-N12HP today. Already done set up and am using it to post this now.
However, one issue with the router settings page, why is it (sometimes) forever/infinite loading? It never loads, I have to press ENTER on the address bar to "send"/initiate the session/browsing again so that it loads.
Already on your latest firmware by the way RT-N12HP_3.0.0.4_374_4561-g5f5c8d8 which I downloaded from your website.
You can try do a factory reset to have a try, this maybe due to some changes on the new firmware or the firmware is not properly flashed.
Thank you
It happens during out-of-the-box as well. On the stock firmware before I updated, it was so slow, I wanted to return the item because I couldn't even get past the set-up! It just says "Transferring data from router.asus.com" for as long as 5 minutes.
I have to keep refreshing the page to get to the next step, some even make the entire installation start all over again.
I am using a direct connection to the router, by the way.
If it is still same after the factory reset, then it might be something worng with the router already.
Thank you
The router works fine now. Only that the setup page loads slow. Haha. Well, not really bothered about that for now. To claim warranty I'm not sure how long it'll take.
Our networking device are 1 to 1 exchange, but still you will need to send in for warranty claim before they can replace a new one to you.
Thank you
How soon can I get my replacement if I send it for warranty? As I'm not free to just drop it then collect it the next day or next few days time. If I could drop it at your service center for the networking devices, have it checked on spot then I'm fine. Kindly advise. Thanks
Dear ASUS, some time ago I posted here that my newly purchased router (RT-N12HP) has gotten a very serious WiFi dropping issue. Like withhin 1 minute the WiFi just drops. Was advised to send it back to retailer to RMA it.
I have gotten that router sent back and received a new router set.
To date, the router started acting up again, the same issue. Does your product really have a proper QC (quality control)?
I started my PC which is connected to the router this morning and there was no network. I thought the cable was loose but no it wasn't. I had to unplug and plug it back in (the LAN cable connected to router side) just to get the internet working.
Your product is really bad and I want to return this router with full refund. Because you will tell me to wait another 3-4 weeks for the replacement and without a router how am I to surf the internet? Are you going to pay for my internet fee?

May I ask, have you try to update the firmware to the latest? The latest firmware is Version 3.0.0.4.376.2048. Is the problem happen to other device which is using LAN cable also? If you don't have any device using other LAN port, is using other LAN ports also have this problem?
When you are not able to online, is your other LAN or WiFi device able to online? You also try updating you PC Ethernet LAN port driver.
Thank you
PC has got no issues if I use back my default Unifi router. It's clearly your product.
It is also on the latest driver. Other LAN ports are used by PC & PS3. 4th is IPTV.
Here's a video showing the WiFi drop using your router.
Edit: Device in video OPPO Find 7a.
If you are going to blame that it's the phone hardware issue. This happens on my Xperia Z1, Xperia J, Galaxy Y, and Galaxy Tab 2. All the devices are faulty?
I'm seated 2m away from the router. As you can see it's 4 bars full. Then gone to 0 and back up again. I'm sure the router itself is faulty, again.

i bought same rt n12hp 2 months back. mostly default settings, not even latest firmware.
all has been good, actually excellent, much better than the unifi router. i m pleased.
but... i seem to read about a lot more problems with wifi highrise (condos) than houses.
ru using in highrise or house?
Landed property. And no other neighbours nearby on the sides. (only the one behind the house)
Next nearest neighbour on the left side of the house is 70ft away. and another one about 150ft but this one does not have internet.
The one staying behind me as you can see has 1-2 bar WiFi if I stay in my current position. Definitely not wireless interference. My DLink Unifi router have not come into this problem before. reason i changed router is because of wifi coverage only. I regret now.
Yes, you will be able to find the serial number at the box. As for the Channel Bandwidth, you can find it at Wireless->General->Channel Bandwidth.
Thank you
Channel bandwidth 20Mhz.
For SN, check your PM, I'll send you picture of the SN instead. If you can get this resolved within 1 week's time, I'll be glad that your team can really actually help out. Otherwise, I'll be disappointed again.

Do update since my N12HP on 20/40 Mhz didnt have any issue while my previous d link I have to set at 20 Mhz to get my ipad to work with it
On my router using 20Mhz all the way. Hasn't got any problem until recently. And the power is on 80mW. Didn't kacau.
Quick update. As of now, the WiFi is totally 'unusable'. I am connected to the WiFi but it'll just keep fail to load everything. Facebook/games. even Lowyat also failed to load (Chrome for Android).

Unfortunate to hear about your situation, but I'm using the exact same model without any signal drop issue. And like another poster above, I'm using the non-HP model. For the price I'm still amazed how well it works compared to the Dlink piece of shit provided by TM. You could have been so suai to get a faulty unit, then RMA, and get another faulty replacement? What are the chances of that..
Hope it works out for you.

Sup guys. Just an update again for tonight.
I removed the left antenna, the WiFi is now stable. I'm not sure what is causing the issue.
Unlike dd-wrt firmwares, i can't set specifically the antennas to be in/out.
Video showing that the left antenna is causing the WiFi drop.

think a few weeks ago, another asus user reported wifi problems and also finally found the solution by removing one antenna.
a good chance problem is qc of antennae or the antenna screw on connectors?
but so many questions.... which antenna for what... why the wifi problem... why the solution with one antenna... what about those with 3, 4 antennae? would to good to know a bit more... anyone?
ASUSmy can help you ask his technical team
Anyway, both antennas - as long as connected to the right side, then it's OK. So I guess I've factored out all possibilities and come to conclusion that the left antenna is the one causing problem.
you are one lucky guy. saw your raving reviews and great experiences on RT-N12 in Unifi thread, went out and bought the same one hoping for the same experience as yours.
my problems, 1) connection keeps dropping, 2) range is bad, 3) auto channel is not working, instead of selecting other channel, it maintains at 11 even when there is interference. have to set the channel manually. 4) auto bgn and 20/40mhz doesn't work well with apple products. 20mhz works fine but defeats the purpose of having 20/40 5) Fake QOS, no DMM
promptly returned the unit and the shop recommend RT-N12HP Kind enuff to let me top-up and exchange 1) Range is just so-so better compared with RT-N12 Despite the intimidating antennas 2) Connection dropping too.
Finally returned the RT-N12HP too
my conclusion. Asus routers are a hit and miss affair. be prepared for a lot of hassle if you get a lemon unit. not recommended
Try removing the left antenna of the RT-N12HP.
Check back 1-2 pages on my issue.
I removed left antenna (the modem is facing you) and the WiFi no more connection drops.
Up til now ASUSmy have not gotten back to me yet, or the very least give an acknowledgement of the issue.
