Do we need to call up the card centre to activate internet transaction?

Both Maybankard 2 also rejected when making a payment. (the service provider is paypal)

Yes..for paypal, you need to call up Maybank to allow this transaction..but they will just allow for certain time upon request nod.gif

QUOTE(hye @ Jan 12 2013, 06:52 PM)
As I mentioned before, it has for so many years been a rampant activity (all over and not just in LYP) until the public thinks it's acceptable. An example would be the reader whom triggered my reply had thought it is an acceptable practice and worst advocating double standards when it comes to recognizing a violation had occurred.

Banks are aware of this but unless consumers lodge an official complaint with evidence it's as good as the offense did not happen. And for so many years, consumers "think" it's acceptable - more of a chicken and egg situation.

Let me just mentioned it again - The practice of adding surcharges by merchants when customers choose to pay using credit card is illegal and violates the T&C that the merchant sign with the banks/MC/VISA.
*
+ it all comes down to enforcement too
the banks/master/visa knew it is happening, and what did they do?
couldn't they just send out an agent to check the places out

well, to see it another way, either the shops include the 2% surcharge into all prices, then deduct it when u pay cash or deduct it and charge 2% when u pay credit card. 2% is not too bad,3 is seriously taking advantage,

Just to share, I received my MBB 2 yesterday. Went to collect from post office as I was not home when they delivered.
I tried to use it to purchase movie tickets but was told the card is declined, both Amex and Gold. So I called CS, they asked some questions then activated the cards for me.
Later that day, I used Gold for makan and Amex at Watsons & Esso petrol station, all can work.
Really want to thank all you guys who contributed because all the info are useful for me (first time use CC) hahaha. biggrin.gif

But I want to ask if I can get SMS notifications each time I swipe, if it possible for MBB 2? (because when I apply, staff told me no such service...)
Also, anyone with experience can guide me how to purchase iphone5 to get 5X TP and 5% cashback?

EDIT: typo

Thanks! Will definitely do that.
Forgot to mention that I live in Penang. No Machines. Actually just want to confirm that if I swipe on weekends then will definitely get the 5% cash back which will be shown in statement, right?

Yes, accept for specific cases when they process the transactions on Monday (example Dell) or for transaction with different timezone situation (example paypal, refer post #3).

that is for security purpose. try to ask maybank to allow all transaction for your card then, but this is at your own RISK.

Which telco are you aiming for?

If DiGi, you can go to the DiGi Centre at Lebuh Pantai.

Just read the posts about the CC surcharge.

Just wanna share my experience. (I posted about this before but didn't update). Short version:

QUOTE
- Bought some stuffs at Epicentre e@curve, paid with my amex, after signing the slip, cashier told me there is actually a surcharge for amex, she made a mistake, and wanted to cancel my transaction and register a new one with the surcharge. I sternly disagreed and left without paying the surcharge.

- Reported them to Maybank and KPDNKK via email.

- Maybank simply replied something along the lines of 'we will investigate this matter" via email. I didn't bother to follow up or reply them back.

- KPDNKK actually called me to ask for the details.

- Around a week after my report, received a snail mail from KPDNKK... they said they went there to investigate and discovered that the staff (most probably the cashier) had to pay the surcharge.. and supposedly the surcharge is only for iPhone 4s.

- I didn't reply their snail mail. I wanted to at first but then I figured I'll let it go since I did get my items without paying the surcharge.

I guess what they're (KPDNKK) trying to tell me was; since I 'escaped' without paying the surcharge, there's no crime. LOL.

oh and 'shittycentre' totally ignored my message and email. doh.gif

Likely the punishment for the staff coz he/she did not charge the fellow above the surcharges.

Tbh la, surcharges all this, very hard to argue one.

Have reported tonnes of merchants for charging, so far most of them are still alive even after multiple reports.

Can't say I blame the banks nor our Gomen.

When the policy is good but there's no implementations, things becomes crappy.

Anyone reported AirAsia before? Shouldn't even need evidence.

@hye I'm the one who said should let small fry go. For me, I'd rather the merchant keep list price low than charge everyone a higher price that they MAY lower if you pay with cash. Personal preference.

Of course, got legal requirement, but if otherwise I'm happy with the shop and the service I get I personally won't complain. Maybe this is called 3rd-world mentality =p

Airasia RM10 surcharge for me is bodoh. Can't believe noone report before, and if people got report before but no action on Airasia then why let the CC company bully small shop?

Don't worry. I share your 3rd world mentality. laugh.gif

If the place pleases me, I would pay as well laugh.gif

I wont mind a little surcharge, like rm 0,50 or rm 1 for 1000 bucks worth of transaction la.

But even few dollars wanna charge, a bit rclxub.gif

The RM 10 surcharge is referring to the convenience fee right?

I remembered that it used to be RM 6.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Not a frequent Air Asia traveler.

I just got mine at SenQ 1U over the weekend using Amex (5x TP and cashback). They also did offer me 6 months 0% interest with Amex, however they will levy $20 as admin fee. If I use MBB visa or master, it'll be foc on admin fee. So I couldnt be bothered with the installment but did wondered why the surcharge on Amex. hmm.gif

Alternatively you can also try to buy from Courts Mammoth, accepts Amex without surcharge. Or 12 months 0% interest installments via Visa or Master.
