just wana add a point here, nvidia and asus originally announced the memo 370t at the beginning of the year with the price tag of $249, google is the one that came in and lower the price to $199. IMO, I think google subsidize asus to lower the price of the tablet so they can increase their share in the tablet market. Google planned to make up for their loss by earning from the sales of apps, music, games, movies, ebooks and advertising. And we can't compare it with apple products cause the seller cannot overprice an overpriced product. In the end is up to ur opinion to decide which to buy. If you gt lots of money and want premium products, go for prime or apple. u like external storage tab 2 7.0. u like quad core, butter and google support, nexus 7. Low budget, china brand such as ainol.

Project butter is an initiative by Google in Jelly Bean 4.1 to make Android more...well, smooth (like butter).

Not only is Nexus 7 a lot better than Kindle Fire, the Kindle Fire (and the newer versions as well) don't even work without rooting in Malaysia. It's meant for Americans to watch tv shows/movies/books online via the Amazon market.

let me tell u, the screen is awesome, HD ips is really beautiful ! Unless u've been using retina display before. This screen is sharper than your average monitor. u ll see the difference instantly. worth every cent.

imo, the nexus 7 isnt a bad choice, if your comfortable with 7" then N7 hands down... if u need a bigger screen i suggest the ipad.

just to share: rooting makes nexus 7 more vulnerable and may void warranty. i strongly suggest not to root it. if u want paid apps for free there's no reason to root it bcoz u can get em without rooting(that's d beauty of android), unlike ios u need to JB.

ps: i m just saying this as i see the OP is already suggesting newbie to root it without knowing what is rooting and pros and cons of doing it.

i never tweak much. everything use nexus7 default UI, i only change youtube to tablet UI.
its buttery smooth, project butter is working, battery & performance same as stock.
like this rom because can hide the control bar on the fly.
and have all cm10 goodness.

If for just a stop gap solution, I would go for Tab 2. BTW, where do you get the the price for Tab 2? Some people I know manage to get it for RM920 during promo.

Oh yeah, google just refunded my credit that i cancelled.
