i used the 3 steps start up method and still got this over cranking sound. Well it is not only the over crank sound but the abnormal rev, look at the rpm meter.

i TEND TO AGREE WITH WHAT BRO gIGABit said here.. If no oil leak that thing is better be left untouched. Just try the new start up sequence. I've been doing that for months & mine is ok just fine.

Besides, Rufez's over-crank is so much less compared to our very own rich8833 here..

Kongyw, I can but now don't have any friends nearby to start the car while I'm filming the engine.. sweat.gif

Thank you for the support bro!

Only change OWV if got oil leak, i think with ECU update and tuning, the abnormal rev will subside...mat79...am i right to say this?

While it is advisable to have it checked at SC, no need to change OWV if there is no oil leak. I will not change it if there is no oil leak. Bear in mind, some owner who changed the OWV still experience the overcranking sound.

I think avoid it, please try this method to start car.

1. Insert Key Fob
2. Press Start Button
3. Press Start button again and wait for 10 seconds
4. Press foot brake and then press start button again.
Hope it helps.

that's what i was told to do as well, however, doesn't solve the problem....

Anyone experiencing the fog misting in front of the windscreen near the two holes? Still haven figured whethers its leaking or standard. Go SC they say its standard sad.gif

Try Press the brake pedal kau kau before pressing the start key !!!( until you feel the brake is stiff).

Mine also overcrank often and try the 3 step start oso the same but after reading in FB that you have to press
the brake pedal with full force during starting and No More Overcrank happen. hope this helps.

my car engine overcranking sound used to happen very morning without miss, sometimes afternoon too. no oil leak however.

i have to leave my car at cose for 7 days to let them solve this problem.

now, after 2 months of engine starting, i only got once very loud and long overcranking sound, others are short but seldom.

the chances of hearing a good engine starting sound is more often now. I still using the long start method.

if you have serious overcranking sound like mine, i think it is better to have it check. If it is seldom happen and no oil leaking, then just leave it.

there is no guarantee it is 100% solved. Not of what i know of. maybe for latest batch.. hmm.gif

I cant really tell listening to Rufez's but Rich and 37867 are really obvious. Now I don't know if I have it or not until I can listen and compare to one which is OWV free.

Engine stall/cut off when engaging into "R" and the once in a blue moon where the odometer when up and down erratically almost to the point of stalling when the car is stationary are the 2 main issues I would like to see an end to.

I know some of you would say those are not major issues... I just prefer not to have those niggling feelings at the back of my mind that my car will go into those "mood" unexpectedly. And that I have to shrug my shoulders when it happened in front of my family, friends and even strangers.... I am telling my colleagues it's a great car, the joy of driving it etc. but when it come to questions like "any issues?".....

hmmmm..once in a blue moon. from april until now...i encounter only 4 times... 3 times i did not practice the long way to start...the last time was i park car and it was not turn on more than 24 hours. then when i insert key fob and engage brake pedal and straight press the button again there was over cranking sound.
until now i not sure i have OWV but i think mine was not that severe compare to other members encounter that problem. early batch not sure all got that problem or certain cars only. not sure. we dont know the definite answer..

Correct! nod.gif All those days where this thread is at super speed is because so many of us the new user of this car discussing our findings of the car. Nowadays, that rush has subsided significantly. Thats a good way to put it though. The existence of Prevoc FB is a major contributing factor as well though.
