Abang mat79, how about a manual with similar problem? I've stalled my car several times when I slot into 1st, then rev the engine a little. Not yet release clutch also.
Nowadays, I'm especially scared when I stop @ toll. I have to rev REALLY high to launch or the car will suddenly shudder & die sad.gif I've already sent my car for 10000KM service & they did something called "adaptation". Now the problem is worse sad.gif
Something i realize though. If I release clutch and don't press accelerator, the car takes off smoothly. The idle automatically increases & the car start moving. After that, if I totally release the clutch & press the accelerator the car takes off (very slowly also lah tongue.gif ) but it doesn't stall (unless the A/C disengages - then whole hell breaks loose! sad.gif ). Is this the anti-stall mechanism working (if there is one)?

its not ocv in ur case. I hope u already update with latest version of engine adaptation program. Since using dbw@drive by wire, u need to rev a bit more to move since it doesnt transfer 100% throttle input during start to move, due to emmision cntrl, sometimes call throttle lag for dbw.
Try rev between 1.5k-1.8k rpm when start to move from 1st gear. Iinm, u will see the rev drop automatically a bit even if u maintain the pedal at same pressure, but it wont stall the car.I think that shud solve ur probs.

But try to check with sc whether they already update with latest version 1st as arthur inform earlier. Same apply to cfe on the program coz they r some reports earlier on the stalling. ocv only for cfe n being recalled to those affected according certain batch number.

But no harm checking ocv for cfe if encounter the same probs.

Hopefully this help.

Thanks for the reply Abg. mat79 smile.gif I'll check with the Glenmarie SC when I go for my appointment tomorrow. The clutch-bearing noise is getting worse and I think I need to get it resolved urgently as well sad.gif
By the way, I drive a manual (not CFE) so I guess the OCV issue not relevant to me, right? unsure.gif

About the launching issue, yes, I do occasionally rev about 1.5K - 2K RPM but when I rev once, release the pedal a bit then rev again (to adjust), the RPM drops quite low. As a result, I stall sometimes too sad.gif Even if you press about the same intensity for both times, the first time high, then the second time low. That coupled with the slow response of the DBW makes judging the power a bit difficult sad.gif Is this normal Abg. mat79?

Thanks for all the advice anyway smile.gif Appreciate it A LOT!!! biggrin.gif

ocv is referring to Oil Control Valve.. its like injector or controller for oil to be pump in/inject in to your engine when u pedal on.. not a master, but talked base own history/experience..

Oi GK Lai bro.. Long time no see!  Glad to see u're still checked in here. rclxms.gif
Damone bro, then how was ur HU after u've done what Arthur has shown? Is the HU still blink/flashes? Crappy GPS can't be helped since it's on the HU map that is inefficient enough.
Oh thought u were asking his number cause u wanna send him Selamat Hari Raya.. tongue.gif

LOL! Its 7 minutes past after 8.30 when u post this. 7 Minutes only bro... Hehehe  laugh.gif
*
Still have the problem. What bro Artur88 posted was not a solution, just to check version of HU only.

That's the famous OWV problem bro. Go have it checked at SC.

While it is advisable to have it checked at SC, no need to change OWV if there is no oil leak. I will not change it if there is no oil leak. Bear in mind, some owner who changed the OWV still experience the overcranking sound.

I think avoid it, please try this method to start car.

1. Insert Key Fob
2. Press Start Button
3. Press Start button again and wait for 10 seconds
4. Press foot brake and then press start button again.

Hope it helps.

mat79..proton going to recall back some batch of preve to change ocv??..is it the same as owv??..so the engine cranking sound during startup is caused by owv or ocv???

Dhuang or anyone without the OWV problem,
can you make a short video of your car cranking?

i think mine sounded like Rufez's from time to time and it never crosses my mind it's the OWV problem...

i TEND TO AGREE WITH WHAT BRO gIGABit said here.. If no oil leak that thing is better be left untouched. Just try the new start up sequence. I've been doing that for months & mine is ok just fine.

Besides, Rufez's over-crank is so much less compared to our very own rich8833 here..

Kongyw, I can but now don't have any friends nearby to start the car while I'm filming the engine.. sweat.gif
