if u want 240G with this price, JUST DO IT thumbup.gif

But Intel already stated that later will come out with 120, and 480 version for this series.

an info to those planning to install or already installed windows 8 on SSD, sorry if posted before

STORAHCI had replaced MSAHCI starting from windows 8. so if you wanna check whether your AHCI is enabled and working under regedit, look for the value under STORAHCI. you won't be able to find MSAHCI

Has anyone heard of upcoming Intel DC S3700 SSD?

From what I heard it features the original controller designed by Intel.

Here's the 200 GB version review:

Good performance, for enterprise anyway, but for consumer stand point, the price tag come first. sweat.gif USD4xx for only 200GB of space doh.gif almost feels like back to few years back where the SSD just started to bloom.

Ooh this thread is soooo tempting, after reading many many posts from you all.. I decided to buy intel 330 180GB very soon,
Going to do fresh install as many of you recommended, but jz wondering, is there anyone tried cloning windows from hdd to ssd then install again windows in ssd, this method will make windows optimise itself for ssd onot? Hahaha

fresh install is always the best option

but before that do remember to enable AHCI in your motherboard bios 1st

Well, that's because the NAND flash that Intel uses on this SSD is their own eMLC (stands for "enterprise Multi-Level Cell") NAND. If I remember, Intel 710 is even expensive than this SSD.

Always good to do a fresh install. While I admit reinstalling/updating all the softwares is a PITA! tongue.gif

so the current cream of the crop is this 3 ssd processors i believe

LAMD, Everest2(marvell?) and the one used in samsung 840

what interest me most now is the samsung840 series.. very fast and i believe the lowest active/idle power usage.

and sandforce has the widest availability ?? alot of ssd manufacturers adopts sandforce.

and one more thing, editing the value directly in storahci no longer works. U need to edit the value or simply delete entire "StartOverride" folder under storahci before go to bios screen.

I'm looking for 240GB version of SSD. Any brand/model recommendation?

I found Intel 335 series 240gb for RM 599.

Budget range less than rm 650.

Where to buy or buy with the kit, hard disk cloning tools. In which i don't have to reinstall OS.

Thanks
