Completed my MBP 2011 upgrade in an hour.

Upgrade RAM to 8GB (Kingston KTA)
Install new SSD Intel 520 180G in SATA III
Install existing HDD Hitachi 500GB 7200RPM in SATA II OptiBay
Clean installation of Mountain Lion
Copy user data from Lion in Hitachi HDD

Boot into ML in 7 secs. Most of the applications launch in less than 3-4 secs.
Instantaneous web surfing using Safari 6

Truly amazed by ML + SSD

The e-tailer is letting you nab OCZ's Vertex 3 240GB for only $132.99 after a $20 mail-in rebate and a 10%-off coupon code (HARDOCPX919A). That price includes free shipping. You're looking at a final cost per gigabyte of just 55 cents, which is pretty darn cheap for a state-of-the-art SandForce SF-2281 drive with Serial ATA 6Gbps connectivity and peak transfer rates north of 500MB/s. (Thanks to Slickdeals for the heads-up on this one.)

getting cheaper now?? thats abt RM425 for 240GB vertex3

guys quick question. can use this for cloning the ssd right? shud be no problem i guess  hmm.gif

or has to use ori data transfer kit?

this one plug out from 2.5 ext hdd casing tongue.gif

you can try n c..

IFAIK cloning drives needs low level access to the harddisk

usb uses bulk data transfer protocol or something like that.. i'm not sure whether that allow low level for cloning

If you are still on Windows XP and you are going to do a fresh install for your SSD, it would be best to have the necessary SATA drivers or your XP install disk has Service Pack 3. However, there are workarounds if you don't have them and you still intend to install Windows XP.

i think to get full benefit of using ssd, one should also consider windows 7 that supports trim.

so the current cream of the crop is this 3 ssd processors i believe

LAMD, Everest2(marvell?) and the one used in samsung 840

what interest me most now is the samsung840 series.. very fast and i believe the lowest active/idle power usage.

and sandforce has the widest availability ?? alot of ssd manufacturers adopts sandforce.

If I hv an extra ssd, how can I maximize it aside from putting it in a new system? I already hv one running for os. Using z68 board, so no trim raid 0 for me.
