I'm looking for 240GB version of SSD. Any brand/model recommendation?

I found Intel 335 series 240gb for RM 599.

Budget range less than rm 650.

Where to buy or buy with the kit, hard disk cloning tools. In which i don't have to reinstall OS.

Thanks

It's not particularly noteworthy and the cost/GB is poor.

Corsair F3 120GB - RM 3.03/GB
Intel 330 120GB - RM 2.49/GB
Intel 330 180GB - RM 2.33/GB

And considering the price of the F3, you might as well consider the 330 180GB at RM419 at Viewnet.
*
Well my requirement is 240gb minimum for a drive.

Does every SSD sold comes with data migration?

Compare with Corsair F3 240GB and Intel 335 240GB, which is better performance and reliable?

I was in LYP on Wednesday. 120GB very limited. 520 series none.

Now I have headache on getting the best value and performance for 2 units of 240gb SSD.

Force 3 240gb rm 588 but worry out of stock.

you can get Plextor M5S 256GB if you don't mind, it's RM 59X depends on which shop ^^
*
Plextor is old company, made popular of CDRW and DVD drive back in early 2000's

Wonder their SSD is that reliable...

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Mar 8 2013, 02:49 PM)
2x Intel 335 240GB then?
*
Intel brand has been famous for reliability and low RMA rate. But performance seems not that great for 3xx series.

520 Series is great but out of my budget scope.

Jayacom Intel 330 SSD 240GB RM 555 (is it 330 or 335???)

Viewnet Intel 335 SSD 240GB RM 569

Well, if you're going for 2x Corsair Force 3, might as well go for the 335 then?

Intel 330/335 > Corsair Force 3, in performance and reliability.
This I can confirm.

Also, if I assume that you're going to use RAID 0 on both the drives... the P45 chipset on your mobo doesn't even have SATA 3 to begin with. Doesn't matter much at this point as you are already bandwidth limited.

If the SSDs are for a new build, then why not just slap on 2x Samsung 840?

Prices between all the mentioned SSDs are in the RM550~RM600 range.
*
Okay then, I'll go with 2x Intel 335 Series 240GB. Jayacom sells for RM 555 but mention Series 330, could it be an error?

I didn't mention im going to use on my P45, I've plans to build another RIG.

Samsung 840, read the review. Doesnt seem to last as long as Intel MLC

there's someone selling samsung 840 120gb in GS for 330 i think. that or the plextor m5s better? u get more for your buck with the plextor and performance wise i've read mixed reviews but most say samsung better. dont know about reliability though. anyone have any advice? wanna buy my first ssd here  rclxm9.gif
*
Plextor use common MLC chip where else Samsung tries a new TLC chip. For mainstream and popular SSD goes MLC type.

Any reason not to go with Intel 335 series which is slightly cheaper?
*
Intel uses SandForce controller and is widely claim that they perform at best for compressible data but sucks at incompressible data. Where else Marvel controller is different. It can be customized firmware to blend with manufacurer requirement. Crucial and Plextor is a good example using marvel controller. The only good thing about intel is they provide screw, adaptor mount and SATA6 cable. laugh.gif

Thanks for the reply.
I saw one seller selling M5S 128GB at RM299. The thing is the guy is from JB. Do you guys know any seller in KL/Selangor area who sell it at a comparable price? Thank you in advance.
*
Get from hanny652 or shops like C-Zone & Viewnet. Selling rm 299

SLC > MLC > TLC. MLC is still the best for mainstream. TLC is for low end user where performance is not their priority. Such as Samsung 840 which is TLC based.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have personal experience with M5S 128GB?

One more thing. Is this M5S come in a 7mm profile? BTW, where can I find this hanny652 guy? Thanks again.
*
What if I told you that if you scroll a post before me was the seller I mention? Hahaha

I have no experience with the 128GB but 256GB yes. Performance is great. Boot up needs around 23-25 seconds from the moment GPU bios appears on screen. Pretty fast I would say. Of course 128GB will be slower but not a big impact. Even my intel 330 120gb manage around 23-25 second. Basically SSD is about read speed. Reason why I choose plextor due to marvel controller which works great.

QUOTE(Alfsaw @ Mar 31 2013, 04:01 PM)
For those whom plan to buy Plextor M5Pro Xtreme, if you have problems with BIOS not recognizing/detecting the SSD. Update the Firmware to the revised 1.03 version. Solved my problem, without having to change mobo.
*
As of production dated back in February 2013, all plextor M5S SSD is firmware 1.03 I just check with plexitool software.

wan to ask plextor m5s 128gb, intel520 120gb n kingston hyperX 3k, which one is most suitable for gaming? n best value for money.hehe. the plextor m5s is cheapest? how the performance? thq all sifu advice.
*
Having highest performance will not gain much notice due to SSD is already proven fast. Is whether you're going to do benchmark most of the time or utilize the benefit of SSD in processing programs.

Most of us utilize SSD because of high read speed not the write speed. You mostly grab data not input data cause input data is still best use on HDD.

End of the day, get MLC NAND type and value for money.

Well it seems to be that way. Rm 299 gets you 128GB instead of. 120GB SSD. You get marvel controller chipset. MLC NAND flash chips.

Anyone has any idea where can I find this Plextor at the price of RM299 if I were to go to The Mines instead of Lowyat? Thank you in advance.

So far hanny652.

Or else lowyat plaza Viewnet and C-zone. Frankly speaking best place to get PC stuff still lowyat plaza.

Can recommend me some reputable SSD seller with good selling price?

I heard pendrive, SSD, RAM price is increasing recently due to shortage of flash module. Should I get the SSD now at old stock price (even though increased price ad) before new stock price.

For example, 120gb SSD i heard around RM300 few months ago, now become RM360-380 ad

For u guys experience and knowledge, how long the price increasing trend will last? it takes how many years to become cheaper?
*
Plextor M5S 128GB @ RM 299 is already at a good bargain. Better grab it before is gone. Is true right now RAM and SSD price is increasing due to shortage. Now is not the best time to get RAMS but while SSD is selling at low price, grab it first biggrin.gif
