Helo, I've just bought an intel 330 series 60gb, my intention was to replace the aging hdd on my hp tx2000, but till now the notebook wont detect the ssd.
The bios on this notebook is limited, there is no option for changing IDE or AHCI mode.
Still, the ssd suppose to work even in IDE mode right?

I've try making the ssd as an external drive, it do work.

Anyone have any idea?

Thanks

Guys,Which SSD should i grab? I can't decide between following Solid State Drive :

1) Crucial M4 128GB
2) Intel 330 Series 120GB
3) Intel 520 Series 120GB

I not sure which is best bang for buck. Is it really worth to fork out the money to buy the Intel 520?

I would just go for the Intel 330 120GB as its the cheapest now and the performance+ warranty is still good biggrin.gif

It's not particularly noteworthy and the cost/GB is poor.

Corsair F3 120GB - RM 3.03/GB
Intel 330 120GB - RM 2.49/GB
Intel 330 180GB - RM 2.33/GB

And considering the price of the F3, you might as well consider the 330 180GB at RM419 at Viewnet.

Hi, I'm thinking of getting my first SSD as a boot drive. I've currently shortlisted it down to OCZ's Agility 3/Vertex 4 (60GB) and Kingston's HyperX 3K (90GB).
Any opinions on which I should go with? I'm leaning more towards the Kingston now but it is quite pricey.

By the way, is it me, or are the SSDs sold in Lowyat Plaza slightly overpriced?

Well my requirement is 240gb minimum for a drive.

Does every SSD sold comes with data migration?

Compare with Corsair F3 240GB and Intel 335 240GB, which is better performance and reliable?

It's only your license number that's important. It is usually a sticker below the laptop. You can use a pirated copy to install but as long as you have a legit license key, it still remains original. You may have to call Microsoft to reactivate since it is OEM version.

The other way is to use a partition cloning software but I don't suggest doing so.

You mean clean install the window on new ssd rite ? i wish to do that too...

What if i download the trial from Microsoft, install then key in OEM product key, can oem license do that ?

Btw, why people are recommending M4 instead of intel 330, i tot their prices are similar and M4 has lower writing speed ? hmm.gif

You could do that but preferably if the version matches(Starter, Pro, Ultimate). You will need to call Microsoft to reactivate the legit key.

Crucial has a good track record and Intel is well known for its reliability. There are no right or wrong choices here.
