Guys, I'm trying to push TM to see if their allow their technicians to set up their BTU similar to what is displayed on page 1 to help those who wants their internet port on the BTU to connect your favourite routers to it upon request.

That is your choice if you want of leave it if you want things as it is.

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2444049

If they insists of moving the ports let them get it set at port 1 but make sure that port binding is SET but tagging is NOT CHECKED.

I'm sure during the first time they caome and install those who wants this can ask for permission for it to be done?
*
hi bro, i got a question if the technician really do willing to do the setting for us...
according to the post on 1st page, custom router connect to BTU LAN port 3 for internet access, BTU LAN port 2 connect thomson router for VOIP,
then if later we have maxis IPTV already which port should we connect to? and do we need to call tm technician to come reconfigure if later we want install maxis IPTV?
thanks!

Anyone using the TM's Fiberhome modem? Apparently that one you need to use a proprietary adapter to connect to it sad.gif

What adapter?

Instead of using our LAN cable to connect and configure the modem, there's an adapter which is used instead. At least that's what I've seen when they configured it at my house.

Does anyone know the Fiberhome GUI login page address, ID and password?

Interesting topic!

Just wondering, without touching the modem & re-use the Thompson, has anyone managed to setup all the 3 vlans on a router and attach it with a ATA device for normal phone?

I'm just wondering whether if it's possible to do something like this concept (as per diagram at the bottom page):
http://klseet.com/index.php/tp-link/tp-lin...wr741nd-v1-a-v2

Will it work?

Din notice this router when i visit you site...
at the moment most of the user here is using TL-WR1043ND with openwrt which was able to maintain the voip function through directing vlan822 to a new port and connect it to thomson router.

I found out that there is a limitation on Tomato firmware where you can't tag the WAN PPPoE dialer to VLAN 621.

There is a setting to input custom vlan but it doesn't make any difference.

That's the Alcatel-Lucent I-240G-P BTU. That is maintained by TM. It's not a router, you can't really replace it, it's locked down by TM. You can only replace (or attempt to replace) the Thomson router provided by Maxis.

I have the exact same BTU model in my current Maxis fibre and my previous Unifi.

there's a way that you don't need to touch the Modem(BTU)
you just need a router that is capable to do Vlan tagging(like TP-Link TL-WR1043ND)

But you need to keep in mind that you will lose VOIP and future IPTV features if you decide to use your own custom router.
