edited my issue..

after try again with the thomson....i realised the upload speed is related to my line..thomson also register the same upload speed..soo will call them soon..

kenjixx,
u use klseet guide to do inside vlan tagging in openwrt or follow op guide?
*
i used his guide for vlan tagging... the upload and download speed is correct and quite stable
at first i try with dd-wrt but it dint work... almost give up until i see there's open wrt which work fantastic

Hi all, i just wonder can anyone tell me how to configure back the TM huawei HG655a for thompson, you know just in case.
*
simple... just TICK LAN2 on both Port Binding and VLAN Tagging.
UNTICK LAN3 on Port Binding ONLY!

reverse the step and you are all done

Please advise how to configure the TM Alcatel I-240G-P modem to set-up custom router for maxis FTTH.
*
a quick search in the internet show no web access for the Modem..
that means you would need a router capable to do vlan tagging & also giving up voip until people figure out that part

any list of confirmed router models that will work with maxis ftth?
*
based a list for unifi that i use for reference

http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...id=42&Itemid=39

I gather up some that works default without the need of ddwrt/openwrt

TP-Link TD-W8960N
Most of the asus router in the page i think can support vlan tagging but very hard to find info because they already have support from Asus to have the firmware integrate with Unifi

kenjixx...ur method not using ur way already lah..instead do the vlan tagging as in klseet guide..
any diff in stability and speed?
*
laugh.gif the method post in first page is for those people stay in high rise building(not by me)
They can access their modem so it's easier for them
for everyone else that don't have access to the modem(like me) will need a vlan tagging capable router

about the stability...
My router with OpenWRT was way better then the default Thomson router
no more overheat hang and all those random stuff happens to me
speed wise it's the same 10mbps all the time
i can watch youtube and torrent at the same time because of the better QOS

ah i see..im using the tplink wr941nd DDWRT right now...using the high rise method..
emmm not sure if i shud mess with vlan tagging or not..

what u think?
*
I am sure we have no problem messing around with it because every user will be using the same setting

we are still using the same setting just migrate the setting to our own router

edited for misunderstanding your question

I got another noob question. if I cant get a Vlan tagging router, can i connect my router to thomson?

TM - Thomson (VOIP) - Own Router (WIFI & Qos) ??
*
here you go...
QUOTE(toh2020 @ Jul 7 2012, 08:35 AM)
add access point leceh ini. have more wiring and interconnect device with additional power point. if your AP taps on thompson. it depends on thompson too. if that thing f*ck up and down. your AP also affected.

i tried to follow 1st page setup, failed. VOIP working but my belkin router couldnt get internet connection.

then i try your setup straight replacing the thomson and use LAN2 port for the belkin router also couldn't get internet connection.

Any suggestion what would be the problem ?? all i need to key in in belkin is pppoe username, password, always connect only right ?
*
did you properly set up vlan tagging?

did it as in the first page suggested.

untick port binding and vlan tagging on LAN2 and tick port binding on LAN3 then submit.

any idea?
*
you should be connecting your router to LAN3 not LAN2 of the modem

i did sad.gif

the initial setup comes with thomson WAN port connected to LAN2 , so i didn't change that.
then after the configuration on huawei and belkin, i connect the belkin WAN port to huawei LAN3.

it should work with any router right ?
*
try connect thomson router to LAN3 and test can it go online
if can then the problem must be your router

Any remedy for landed properties?
Or does the router problem only happen to high-rise building users?
*
for landed property you will need a vlan tagging capable router
i.e. Asus RT-N13U
set it up properly and you are done

*
1)common complain
2)has been discuss in the official fibre thread.
3)speedtest not always correct best is you to download some large file from internet.
4)yes there's plenty of replacement you can get one of it would be Asus RT-N13U or just get any router that has vlan tagging

Oh crap, that means landed line can only use VLAN capable router and not any router we like?
*
for landed property most probably you will have no access to the modem
no access to the modem means your cannot mess with the vlan setting in the modem
your choice will be using a switch with Vlan like this one and then you can use any router you like

Can I configure the Thompson router as a bridge? Just like how people using Unify have the option to use the DIR615 as a bridge and connect a custom router to the DIR 615?

PS - how much is the Asus router.
*
there is no advance configuration on the thompson router to make it as a bridge.
