Need some clarification from you.
Your Thomson router connections is it Thomson WAN port connect to your TP-Link Port1 or Port2?
Can you let me know which Thomson LED lights is on and what are the colour?

The phone is working with Thomson router. Is activated.
Once I connect via my Asus router, the phone1 and 2 doesn't light up.
Any idea how to configure it in Thomson router? An guide?
How to export out those settings to check those vlans?
Another way to confirm is some one lend me the tp-link router with openwrt so I can test it with thomson router.

Bad news, not sure why, I'm no longer able to connect to the internet using the same settings again after I refreshed my NVRAM.

If that is the case then I need to logon into Thomson and turn off DHCP and change it's IP address I can't seem to find the right command to change the IP address for Thomson router. I wonder why they give us all these troubles, sigh.

Nope you cant do anything to HG850a... the modem is blocking end user from accessing it.

My friend tried with his MicroTik(+Wifi) to Internet.  No problem.  But VoIP not working.  The setup is BTU<-->MicroTik+Wifi(Internet), LAN Port<-->Thomsom Router(WAN)<-->Phone1, no dialtone at all.
Do you have a guide on how to setup the MicroTik to have VoIP via Thomson router?

hmm, since we are not able to connect our router to the ONT directly, means the only way left is to connect it to the Thomson instead and set the WAN connection type to DHCP. The clients will then connect only to the custom router and routing/connection will be all handled in the custom router and forward only WAN packet to Thomson. I'm wondering whether we still benefit from better processing power in custom router by using this method  Any thought?

Guys, I'm trying to push TM to see if their allow their technicians to set up their BTU similar to what is displayed on page 1 to help those who wants their internet port on the BTU to connect your favourite routers to it upon request.

If they insists of moving the ports let them get it set at port 1 but make sure that port binding is SET but tagging is NOT CHECKED.

Subscribe Maxis FTTH, installed and activated in June. I did not have much problem with Thomson router, however was unsatisfied with the WIFI speed which is 65Mbps which is slow for streaming movie from pc to media player. After reading through post and decided to change to TP-Link TL-1043ND (i think there is not much stock out there, quite difficult to find one with price less then RM150).
Followed post by Sayboon, flashed back to openWRT, and setup the router according to KLSeet guide.
It was easy, just remember that vlan ids for Maxis is this:
621 - wifi (i tagged it on LAN port 1, unifi is 500)
822 - voip (i tagged it on LAN port 2)
823 - IPTV (i tagged it on LAN port 3, unifi is 600)
other than that, the just follow klseet write up.
Thomson router was connected to LAN1, and wifi was disable. It was used for VoIP, just same setup as jssc in page 9 here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2384890/+200.

Everything was right on the spot during the setup, except the wifi speed was still at 65Mbps  . This was tricky parts. Browsed and read many sites, finally found simple solution that need to run some script to turn off autoscan.
you have to download PuTTY  and type in telnet/ssh:
uci set wireless.radio0.noscan=1
uci commit
reboot
(I am n00b in linux & network, i just try)

Hope this will help anyone who want to switch to custom router. Both TL-1043ND and openWRT give a lot flexibility and freedom to me too.

1) just need data line via wifi/3g/edge/hsdpa, can call to any network as same as u are calling from maxis voip ftth
2) sure can, u can setup unlimited client software based (like sipdroid) or hardware based (like dlink phone, motorola phone)

just tested using hello axiata 3g network in cambodia, it working fine. my wife even surprise when see the calling number is our house maxis voip number, not cambodian phone number lol

Is it the +1 on the back of user id for password still can be use..? Because i check mine, there is extra 2 digit from my user id...

Also the VoIP password also diff... Not the same as +1 anymore...
