Just went there last week. drove all the way from KL to kuala kedah.5 hours and very exhausted.arrived in kuala kedah and very surprise to see the ferry jetty is so HORROR. the parking system is so terrible and everyone looks at you like they want to eat you. there is one mat rempit knock my windshield just to get me to his parking spot.as a tourist eventhough im a local the kuala kedah jetty did not give me a positive impression at all. something needs to be done to upgrade the jetty. stayed in awana porto malai.deluxe room seaview. booked via agoda.superb view.dinner first day at thai town restaurant at kuah town.taste is just OK but the price is quite expensive.RM120 for 3 adults. 2nd day dinner at Turkish Delights. The best middle east cuisine i have tasted so far. nice generous big portion. Price is RM150 for 3 adults. we rented a honda city RM160 for 48 hours. pour in RM30 ron 95 and enough for u to explore the whole island.we went for chocolate shopping at haji ismail group and pasaraya billion. gamat shopping at mh saujana. at for my kid we went to underwater world at pantai chenang and bird park. overall our experience in langkawi is excellent except for the kuala kedah jetty.

Hi all, I'm flying to Langkawi in like 9 hours time. So will probably reach Langkawi around 8.30am, do you think we can make it for the 9am Mangrove tour or Island Hopping at Cenang Beach? Do they have a package that starts at 10am instead?
Or else, what can I do until check-in time which will be at 3pm? |

Nope. unless you are hiring a big boat which can store all your luggages. besides, the jetty for island hopping is 30 minutes drive away.Or else, what can I do until check-in time which will be at 3pm? unless you personally know a tour operator then its a bit tricky but you may get lucky |

QUOTE(galaz @ Oct 22 2012, 10:35 AM) Hello, i lived in KL/PJ. I'd say its just about the same. Driving up to Kuala Kedah is quicker than Kuala Perlis, but the ferry from Kuala Perlis reaches Langkawi faster since its much closer.Kl->(bu bus to)kuala kedah->(by ferry to) langkawi kl->(by bus to)kuala perlis->(by ferry to) langkawi which is cheaper? and which one is more time saving? |

Speaking of long ferry rides, I'm assuming u mean to avoid seasickness? I'm wondering if there are still ferry services that use catamaran boats. Those twin hulled boats r much more stable in open sea and less prone to causing sea sickness.

Chinese restaurant: Orchid Ria. I went there with 5 people & the total bill was RM164, didn't crabs though, fish, squid, tofu, 2 veggies & prawn. Mangrove tour, to me was enjoyable. I've gained a lot here, I'll write a report of my trip in a few days time cause I'm getting photos from my friends. |
