Delidding won't help IB cool better. It is a problem with IB's power density. Tested here.
Your temps for 4.5GHz @ 1.3V is so high considering that you have a RX360 cooling it. hmm.gif
*

Actually dual RX360 in push pull fan setup.
Something wrong inside the chip like other owners. Anyway my rads are still cool to touch. No hot air at all laugh.gif
But since I bought this 3570K dirt cheap so i don't mind to push it further.
btw my chip couldn't boot 5GHz with even 1.65v. Best is 4.9GHz with 1.6v bootable but unstable with random exe crashes & BSOD.
For you guys who don't own IB yet, the best thing to do now is to wait for a revised stepping.
Let's hope Intel has good news for us later.

Will Intel redefine/revision current thermal interface? Maybe second batch? Hmm

Very nice clock kelvin rclxms.gif
At least you are able to boot into windows at 5GHz
Is that 5GHz stable in short benchmarks eg Cinebench, Vantage, hyperpi etc?

Nice indeed. I think your CPU's low VID is the key for 5GHz and lower vcore. Going to start hunting for a 3770K tomorow biggrin.gif

I've seen better overclocking from Core i7 3770K's, better as in requiring less voltage than comparable Core i5 3570Ks maybe due to better binning. Try getting a Core i7 3770K and see if you can get better results. brows.gif

Many said that temp is not necessarily heat. IB may have higher temps but it actually makes less heat than SB. Strange and maybe confusing to some but I find it correct.

yeah i have the same thought.
maybe Intel wants us to get the more pricey 3770K instead of 3570K. sweat.gif

anyone here can suggest whether it's a good move to upgrade from 2600k to 3770k? From the review in guru3d they mentioned something like not a significant upgrade and base on Kelvin's Vantage score, looks only a bit faster than my 4.8GHz 2600k score.

Kelvin, your cpu vantage score above is for the stock 3770k or OC'ed one? if OC'ed, is it 5.0GHz?
Thanks

SB i7 to IB i7 is a very small upgrade, unless you have no idea where to spend the money, I suggest you keep the 2600k.

May be you hv missed my question towards him but that's the 3770K @ 5GHz.
Maybe because he didnt OC other parts or not tweaked enough to get a better yield.

But IB will not degrade like SB.
SB the first day you OC and put 1.5v vcore the second day or week you will realize that you need to increase vcore to 1.55v.
IB consumes less power, thus literally cooler although the cores show high temps. SB once OCed you will feel that your room is getting hot like sauna, but on OCed IB you WONT feel hot at all.
The TJmax for IB is 105c vs SB 98c, and IB wont throttle even up to 102C and it still consume less power.
