And that was my answer. The protein supps just help you supplementing protein to your diet. You can use any kind of whey supps be it Ronnie Coleman's, Syntha-6, Combat Powder or anything but it will still be the same if your diet is the same. Remember, whey supplements are for supplementing, it is not a magic powder for you muscle mass to grow.

Well, who knows, I don't use any whey powder sad.gif

Think we should give gannicholas the benefit of the doubt. IF his training and diet are already top notch, then maybe there's something wrong with the protein powder he's using, therefore justifying his question.

Anyway here's my reply to him, I'm on Syntha-6. Gains are alright I guess, could be better though, still trying to get my diet perfect.

it's really hard to judge which protein brand is better than the rest. protein is protein after all. I don't buy into isolates and stuff. regular protein works just as fine. I nvr bother about effectiveness when it comes to protein. as long as I find it nice to drink and has 24-25g protein per serving, it works.

Malaysia's pretty slow in updating their supplements. So yeah, it's very possible to get the old formula.

We don't need as much protein as we think we do. Something i found out much to my surprise from an Australian journal somewhere.

You mean that the 1g protein per 1lbs bodyweight is too much?

assuming you read it as part of your medical science, does the same theory apply for bodybuilders as well?
the theory of 1-2g per lb of body weight for bb'er has been around for ages, though i'm not sure there is any scientific proof to it, it cant be just myth right?

Qoute from this http://www.gain-weight-muscle-fast.com/foo...ht-protein.html website:

But isn't there a point where you can really get too much protein?

Probably. And it is probably a point routinely passed by many bodybuilders as they subscribe to the "protein is everything" philosophy. As mentioned, there is evidence consuming in excess of one gram of protein for every pound of bodyweight is optimal (even necessary) for muscle building. However, it doesn't necessarily follow that taking in 3,4 or 5 grams per lb. will be even better.

Taking anything to the extreme is rarely a step in the right direction. Protein is of extreme importance to muscle growth but it is NOT everything. When you take in too much protein at the expense of other nutrients, the body will convert protein to a carbohydrate energy source through a process called gluconeogenisis.

This is not the body's preferred method of acquiring energy. It is not the most efficient method. The conversion takes energy, energy that could otherwise be used to help build muscle.

A balanced diet with sufficient protein intake (1-2 grams of protein per lb. of bodyweight) is the best way to maintain a positive nitrogen balance and build muscle tissue.

If you find yourself to have a fast metabolism that requires you to have a high overall calorie intake in order to gain weight, choosing to have a high ratio of those calories come from protein probably isn't the best course to take. What your fast metabolism (burning an increased amount of calories) is dictating is that you supply it with additional energy (carbohydrates), not protein.

For Example - A person on a 50/30/20 diet at 20x bodyweight would find their diets calling for 2.5 grams of protein per lb. of bodyweight. This is a lot and can present a digestive nightmare.

A wiser course would be to drop the ratio of protein down (opting instead for quality complex carbohydrates) in order to maintain a more reasonable protein intake of 1-2 grams per lb. of bodyweight.

Some apply 1-2g per lb of LEAN body weight. hmm.gif Although from what I have read, past 1g per lb of body weight is unnecessary to see improvement in Muscle building. Of course everybody is different, so I am sure optimal protein intake differs as greatly as different training out there.

Of course, many more experienced taikos out there probably know better notworthy.gif

Lol I would prefer if they added creatine instead of all those multivit. Anyway, how does a protein blend compare to just whey? Coz I'm using dymatize elite whey at the moment and I'd like to try their fusion 7 soon.
